P&P Party tickets

No, that's just not how this works. Park hours are driven by expected crowds---Disney doesn't extend the operating day to be nice, they extend the operating day because they have to to handle the number of people they think are coming.

Attendance was already down about 1% from the most recently completed quarter, and that was before the worst of the economic news really sunk in. Advance bookings for the quarter starting in January were down 10% before the promotion was announced, which is a really big number.

And, it's important to remember the real job of a promotion: it's not necessarily to get more people in total to come to orlando. It's also to get people to book a more expensive room than they might otherwise have booked, or to book onsite if they might normally have stayed off. A travel agent friend of mine told me that of the bookings she did in the first week or so of the 7-for-4 promotion, almost all were guests with established bookings upgrading their resort. Only a few were new bookings. Only one just took the discount on what they had already booked.

To me, the President's Week hours tell the story convincingly. Those are the shortest they have ever been since I've been coming in February in 2005. You have to go back to 2003 (which was still seeing effects of the post-9/11 travel crash) to find a time when MK had shorter hours that week, and even that's arguable.

I so hope you are right and I am wrong!

I wouldn't give up yet. I just called, and they said they are still having the Partys, just haven't started selling the tickets yet. I just wish they'd just either say "we aren't going to do it", or start selling the tickets. I mentioned how the hours had been changed, and she said they could be changed back again. :headache:

I feel for the people that are going even earlier than May...it's horrible trying to plan for anything this trip!

I wouldn't give up yet.

I wouldn't either.
Hoping for the best, myself.

BUT-

I just called, and they said...

There is not much that is less reliable
than "general information" that you get from a phone CM, chosen at random.

(Sorry, but its true.)

Again, I hope the parties are happening!!!

Robo - when I saw you'd posted, I just had to check the thread out again to see if you had some "inside info" for us! :rotfl2: We'll at least you're still hopeful, too. :goodvibes

Yup, what Tink Kel said! ::yes::

April 1st is a 9:00. With Wishes scheduled! I sure hope this doesn't mean I have been calling all this time for nothing!!:furious:
This is the one I've been waiting on too. I noticed the hour change last night.:sad2:

Only one just took the discount on what they had already booked.
Of course not the same TA but this is all I did. I was hoping to add an extra day but the savings didn't justify the airline change fee, so just applied it to our current reservation

For a first time Disney go'er, all this confusion sure doesn't make it easy for anyone to plan. Here I am trying to plan ADR's that I knew nothing about and I can't do that. I was persuaded by many of you on the boards to check out this party and now I don't even know if we can do that, which then affects my ADR's because I don't when or if we have to adjust for a party. I thought this was going to be fun.....:confused3 :headache:

To be fair, most first time visitors don't really plan. Most of us who've been there before know that no good plan goes unchanged. Something like this always comes up.

In any event, I'm going to bet a Mickeybar that the extension of hours is the final nail in the coffin. It might change again, but it seems that, for now, the intention to shelve the Parties is clear.

I'm still hoping for a party the end of Jan. They had them around that time before. Still keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I don't think there is going to be any:sad2: However we are lucky to be going back in October so can do MNSSHP then. I am going to book a princess meal for a treat for DD in May instead.

This is just wishful thinking . . .

Could the problem of selling the tickets be linked to the ADR booking system?

Well, here's the reply I've just received from WDW:

Have only been to WDW twice before and didn't know about the PPP so really hoping to go late May but know everything does point to no PPP :sad1:

IF no PPP then might think about BBB as Hannah is mad on Hannah Montana

I have just noticed that MK is now closing on 2-20-09 at 8 pm. This date was originally scheduled to close at 7 pm, and it was rumored to be a PPP date. This makes me think that the PPP is not going to happen on this date ? Any input?

We were hoping to go during our trip in May. Hopefully, Disney will change their minds. :rolleyes1

Yup.

That's the general consensus.

I wonder if the intent is to change the party hours? If they cut it short but charge the same for a ticket, I am no longer interested. ;)

I think I have sorta lost interest at this point. I don't like that they seem to be withholding it this way. You would think they have enough of us calling for tickets to go ahead and make a decision :confused3

Nope sorry not today. Thursday 11-20. I asked the CM about the dates not actually ever being posted on the Disney Website and the times being changed if that meant anything. She swore they still will have the party. As said in other threads- well not going to repeat it. But will continue to check until I get an official its off from Disney.
