DD wants to go here for her birthday next Friday. It is new to our area, we have never been. I have read mixed reviews on the restaurant. I need to know if possible, what you definetely would order and what you would never order again. She is a chicken person.

Also, the online menu has no prices. What should I budget for a family of 4? Thanks.

Chicken lettuce wraps are the most popular. Large leafs of lettuce that you fill with the chicken and wrap it up and eat.

Get the lettuce wraps, it's an appitizer and they are great. I'm guessing for four adults ticket would be about $60 unless you do like us and buy a couple of entrees and appitizers and share! Love that palce

Wow never had lettuce wraps before.

An idea of take-home chinese for our family (we get a few leftovers, not much though) constists of General Tso, Orange Chicken, Chow Mein, and Sweet and Sour. Usually get 2 eggs rolls and lots of fried rice....

DD loves eggrolls. Are the springrolls good here?

P.F. Chang's is very predictable and good.

I'm vegetarian, but ... I get the vegetarian lettuce wraps and/or the Ma Po Tofu.

We love PF Changs!! Lettuce wraps are a must have! I have not had a chicken dish I didnt like. My DH likes the spicy chicken and I like the orange chicken.

I like P.F. Changs, the must haves that I get there is the lettuce wrap for an appetizer and the crispy honey chicken for an entree. It is so good.

The double pan fried noodles are terrific.

Whenever I visit my friends in Virginia Beach they take me to PF Chang's. Love the food there.

We love us some lettuce wraps. We also like the hot and sour soup (the large is family size), and the hot fish.

the lettuce wraps are awesome!

i also love their orange peel beef, pork mushu, and their dan dan noodles.

i have never had a bad meal there!

I'll secong this. Lettuce wraps and Crispy Honey Chicken!! DEEEEELISH!!! :goodvibes

Mmmmm...Now I want PF Changs!!

I Love PF Changs... I disliked Asian food before I went there for someone's B-day. Everyone order something different and then we passed the plates around to sample...Oh My! I feel in love (LOL) My favorite is the Kung Pao Beef or Chicken with garlic noodles instead of rice...yummy! It's a great place to celebrate an event. Have Fun

Okay the lettuce wraps are a definate. She loves orange chicken or maybe the honey chicken. DS loves General Tso, so I will recomment the Spicy chicken for him. DH is really picky so I will keep reading for ideas that pop out for him...

I am going to budget $100.00 dollars. Do they do anything for bdays? Any suggestions on desserts or should I get her a cake and have it at home. She will be 17 so a cake isn't totally necessary.

Chang's is pretty Americanized, which would probably explain the mixed reviews you saw. It's not very authentic Chinese, but it is good quality fresh food, and the service is usually excellent.

At my last job one of our VP's had a group of Chinese visitors in town and he took them to Chang's, because it is fancier-looking than most of our locally-owned places. They ended up having to be escorted to the kitchen to see the food being prepared because the dish names were completely unfamiliar to them, no one working in the restaurant spoke Mandarin, and they did not have a Chinese-language menu. They didn't care for most of the food at all, once they figured out what they wanted to try. I now work with a lot of Chinese folks, and they pretty much universally don't care for the place. (We have one about a mile from the office.)

I find their food extremely salty. Yes, Chinese food (what we think of as Chinese food) is high in sodium in general, but I find PF Chang's to be really salty, and at the same time, too tame with the heat on hot dishes, skimpy with sweetness on the sweet dishes. So they underseason everything except the salt!

Pleasant restaurant, pretty safe to take people to, but your average strip mall take out place run by actual Chinese folks probably has tastier food.

When they ask if it's your first visit, be sure to say yes because they might give you the lettuce wraps for free.

We like Mongolian Beef and Lo Mein.

Thanks for the heads up at least for me. I have HBP, so I will take a water pill right after the dinner...

Any MSG here? forgot to ask that.

NotUrsula, I am sure that I wouldn't know real Chinese food if I tried it. I can relate why your guests wouldn't want to eat at the chain though. American-Chinese is what we are used to and I certainly wouldn't go to China to have my chicken 'n dumplings. (by no means am I trying to sound snarky, no matter how I say this it doesn't come out right)

Their Beef Szchuan is quite good. Ma Po Tofu is good as well.

They have a pretty interesting menu of cocktails as well.

:earsboy:
