He went into the hospital about a week ago with pneumonia. They did some sort of scan (a CAT scan? ) to check his lungs and it turns out he has stage 4 lung cancer. :( They are going to give him chemo, but not radiation because there's not much they can do with Stage 4 I'm assuming.

I also lost my job today. :( They didn't really get into WHY I was fired and I didn't ask. So now I'm off to hunt for another job. Again. :( Why does this keep happening to me?

I'm sorry to hear that!!

And sorry to hear you got fired, too! :wizard: As part of the currently-not-employed group, I know it's frustrating trying to find a job.

Sending prayers and PD!

:grouphug: I'm sorry sweety. I hope your DH's g'pa isn't suffering too much. Cancer at any stage or time in our lives is a horrible illness to deal with. pixiedust:

(ps were you at your job long enough to draw unemployment?)

Tjaleks--probably not. I worked there about a month. The place I worked seems to have a REALLY super high turnover rate, sadly. I got really attached (more than I should have I'm sure) to some of the kids and a couple of them got su per attached to me. They won't understand WHY I had to leave and it'll upset them I'm sure.

DH was going to try and go visit his DGrandpa in the next few weeks, but now he may not be able to because of loss of income. :( Which makes me even sadder. It may be the last time he has a chance to see DG and he won't get to because of me.

I would at least want to know why I was being fired! They didn't say anything to you about it or give you a clue?

And maybe you can work out something so your dh can see his grandpa... It may be tight financially, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

((((HUGS)))))

Again, I am sorry. I happen to agree with Becky, though. Your DH should just go and see his g'pa. Money may be tight, but this may be a final good bye. :grouphug:

That's what I'm going to tell him. Maybe DH's parents can help out a little bit or something. DH has vac time stored up at work..he earns it faster than he can use it. It's just the cost of the plane ticket to Michigan (where DGrandpa and lots of DH's aunts/uncles/cousins) live.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck.

Travelocity shows tickets to Detroit for $225. You might could get a better deal on priceline or something. If you're working with a flexible schedule you can usually do pretty well.

I guess he'll just have to check the internet and see what he can find. DH used to travel a LOT (his mom worked for AA) and so has been a member of AA's Advantage Miles club (or whatever it's called) forever. I know the last time we had to fly out on an emergency a few years ago, he was able to get superlow priced (like 80 bucks round trip or something) tix to where we were going at the time (Knoxville). So maybe he'll have that kind of luck again.

I don't know if I'm going to go with him for moral support or not. I'd like to go, because I really like DGrandpa and DGrandma. But I don't know if we can afford 3 tickets or not.

TOV, I'm so sorry to hear about your DH's granpa. I'll say an extra prayer for him and your family. :grouphug:

I'm also sorry about your job. Maybe better something better will come along.

Thank you. :) They are appreciated.

I guess tomorrow I go out and start job hunting all over again.
