Considering buying into DVC, question.

If I bought a small amount say 50 points at one of the more expensive DVC's (Beach Club for example), then bought a larger amount say 300 points at one of the less expensive DVC's(HH for example), could I book for a stay that requires more than 50 points at Beach Club in the 11 month window?

I.E. use 25 of my BC points and 150 of my HH points for a 200 point stay at BC booked 11 months in advance.

Hi Schrute Farms,
To answer your question about owning multiple resorts and the booking priority, Disney will not allow the scenario you described.

You would have a booking priority for each resort you own though only for the number of points you own there. In the example you gave you could make reservations at Beach Club for 50 points 7-11 months in advance. If you wanted to use any of your Hilton Head points to complete the reservation you would have to wait until 7 months or less and based on availability.

I hope this helps.

Also, buying at one of the less expensive isn't really the best choice. MF's over the years will eat up any savings you have on purchase price. if you don't care which DVC you own at, SSR is probably the best choice right now. Resales are going in the low 70's and MF's are very reasonable. Maybe that would be a better way to go the VB or HHI.

Nope - that is not how it works. Home resort priority at the 11 month window is only for the points you own at that resort. Only at 7 months can you combine or use non-home resort points to book accomodations.

So in your case, if you had 50 BC points and 300 HH points you could book the 50 at BC at 11 months and then at 7 months you could use the HH points to add more nights at BC - if rooms were still available!

Helps a bunch. thanks,

Figured Disney closed any loopholes, but I your explanation for very clear.

Very rarely does Disney not close the loop hole. The Mouse is pretty smart. :smickey:

If planned right, you can also bank and borrow your 50 points at BCV - for a longer stay at the 11 month window (did I say that right?, lol)

There's a good reason for this rule. If this were allowed, then it would cause a huge points imbalance. Also, it would be unfair to those who, for example, purchased 300 points at VWL only to be cut out by people who have purchased 25 points at VWL and 275 points at a less expensive resort. It would not be a loophole; it would be a disaster.

This was one of my questions also and I have looked into it.(could not find a loophole :confused3) I am looking to add-on at SSR. Short of banking/borrowing and using current years points it just does not seem to make any sense to buy elsewhere for me. Each owner uses their points differently depending on their vacation plans. But we go every year to 1.5 years. SSR for us!:thumbsup2

That is why it's important that you buy into the resort you want to use most. We started out with OKW, but realized we really like BWV and BCV. We ended up buying into both BWV and BCV. Then we added on at other home resorts because we wanted full option of going to any resort at any time. We had a big case of addonitis.
