Owners of Hilton Head - why is this your 'home'?

we own at Hilton Head because we love the island so much. we don't mind that the resort isn't oceanfront as the condos we used to rent prior to owning DVC were never directly oceanfront due to cost. The Disney beach house and pool are great and very accessible.

I've been debating buying an add on at HH or Marriotts Surf Watch. I'd love to hear the good and the bad about both. Are they comparably priced? We own at OKW so I understand DVC point structure but what does 125,000 Marriott points mean can someone help me. THanks

We closed in January:

1. Best combination of price per point and maintenance fees. Since they overestimated '04 fees, our fees are actually $3.88 this year. Our contract also came with banked points, which we are using up next week.

2. 11 month booking advantage for summer.

3. Can drive to HH in 6-8 hours.

So far, we have booked BCV for December and BWV for January. In December, we'll be booking a 2BR for next July at WDW.

We live 4 1/2 hours from HH and went about once a year long before we ever heard of DVC. We are waiting out ROFR right now for a HHI add on that we are anxious to use. We love HH, we'd love for DVC to be on the beach -- but we can live with the situation. We had been doing a cash rental on condo units on the beach, but the prices keep going up and at a couple of the condos the maintainence was going down. One reason we bought our SSR points to get into DVC was knowing that we go to HH every year.

We went to the resort on a whim and fell in love. I like the fact that we can reach the resort by car in a little over 10 hours (1 day drive for us). I love the theming and laid-back atmosphere. The beach house is a great place to spend the day and then we can drive back to the resort (home). If I want to hear the ocean from my room we go to VB.

The points per night are a bargain if you go at anytime besides the 3 summer months. The CM's are some of the friendliest and most involved of any of the resorts.

We usually only go to WDW every 3 years except for this year when we took advantage of the discount on the annual pass. (We are going 3 times this year :guilty: ).

CarolA, HH was never planned to be any bigger because of the size of the Island it was built on. You are thinking of VB where the original plans had rooms built on the other side of the road. Thats why they built the big tunnel under road.

can anyone tell me where the good seafood buffets are in HH (I want some crab legs haha)

I love it because We alternate between WDW and the beach. My DW and I love the beach, and HHI is only 5-6 hrs from Atlanta. PLUS- they have GREAT golf as does WDW, so I have the best of both worlds!!!
PLUS-My DW loves the beach so she beaches and I golf!!!

DeerH

You have to understad that HHI itself is a good enough reason to buy there. Unlike Vero Beach. HHI is a very, very, Very desirable area with high real estate prices. You can not go worg owning a piece of HHI.
