Owner's Locker

Hello
I posted this on the owners locker site, but thought this would be a good place to mention our experience with our need for Owners Locker.

"First of all, i can't say enough good things about this service! We loaded our locker a few months ago, and looking for its use in the near future.

My wife and i went to see the mouse in August. When opening our luggage, we found all of our belongings covered with suntan lotion, sunblock, and other liquids. We had all of these items in gallon sized ziplocked bags, and the bottles were sealed tight (never used). We also found our prescription bottles open and some of our pills mixed in with the suntan lotion. To top it off, we had a calling card from the TSA saying they inspected our bags. Needless to say we were not happy.

Now, having a OL, all of our lotions are tucked away safely, and we'll actually have clean clothes when we open our luggage whether TSA inspects us or not! We know that when we get our OL, all things will be in great condition, and that our belongings have been handled with care and respect!
Thank You!"

Since i wrote that, we were at Disney in December, and just as i mentioned, our belongings were taken care of very well, and TSA did inspect us again...didn't feel anxious at all. :thumbsup2

Now i just have to convince my wife to leave some clothes in a 2nd OL so we don't have to pack anything :thumbsup2

Once you use an Owners Locker it would be pretty hard to give it up. I can't imagine going to WDW without our 2.
Makes getting ready for our trips so much easier and also, makes unpacking when arriving home much easier.

I'm sure John is sending a thank you to the airlines for most of them upping their baggage fees again. Making OL and even better value for us.

Isn't that the truth! :thumbsup2

We are going to be filling our first OL when we go in April and I have a question! Is it possible to fit a george forman grill, blender, small wireless router and a medium sized crock pot into a OL? TIA

you know, if I had put in a business plan three years ago that the airlines would start charging for luggage, you would have thought I was nuts!

I love my OL! We've had ours for a year now & it was one of the best things we've ever done. You wouldn't believe how much stuff you can cram in there! Makes traveling so much easier. Just carry-on & go.

My feeling would be "yes", tempered by the statement that it will depend on what else you want in there as well. The list of what to leave behind (at WDW) grows rather quickly! :goodvibes

:confused3 Probably...but it will depend on the exact sizes of your crock pot & george foreman grill since both of those come in diff. sizes. The dimensions on the Owners Locker itself are: 22"L x 20" W x 13" H. If I were you I would look around for an empty storage box or plastic bin that is approx. the same size & see how I could arrange it with all of these items inside as a test. I don't have anything BIG like that in ours but before we went the first time I had found an empty cardboard printer box or something that was very close in size to the OL. It was a slightly diff. shape, so I made sure the linear size was just slightly smaller "just in case" and I packed that full and shipped it down via UPS. Everything I sent JUST FIT into the OL. We have to sit on the lid to get it closed.:goodvibes

hmmm....I am going to take a look at the OL and the costs.
Do they deliver off site? Like to Orange Lake Country Club and DCL or a hotel by DCL? I also own DVC so know it will go to the hotels.
So, for what you are paying, per year, it is less than if you didn't purchase the OL and landed in FL and then purchased the stuff you left? Did that make sense? :confused3
My mother goes with my sister and my family ever year (but my sister and I go at different times) so will see what we need to put in (toiletries would be wonderful) and cost and maybe split with sister.
Not sure.
Any insight would be helpful.
Thank you.

I do know they go other places than just Disney. For DCL, they might be able to arrange a meeting place near the airport? Depending on what you put in there (PP was looking at a blender, Foreman grill and wireless router) it would certainly be more costly to buy than renting the locker. Plus you have to spend your valuable vacation time shopping for all that, when it could just be delivered to you. Ours has ponchos, umbrellas, swimsuits, adult beverages, water, soda, can coozies, sunscreen and lots more. We could certainly get a day of activites at the resort covered with just what is in the OL (should our bags take a wrong turn).

They will deliver to most resorts in the Orlando area (I'm not aware of any they would not cover). We have had them deliver our locker to Orange Lake, Orbit One, Silver Lake, Vistana and Vacation Village - as well as many of the DVC resorts. They do not deliver to Port Canaveral but, in the past, have made arrangements to meet OL members at the airport to deliver and pick-up the lockers.

Yes, you could split the cost with family members and each use the service.

They are really easy to work with and quite flexible - great guest service! :)

We've had our OL for less than a year--just one trip "home" so far. One fun aspect is seeing your stuff you packed away in your locker. Like when you get the Christmas ornaments out each year and you sell all the stuff you've collected. Same kind of vibe unpacking your OL-- "Yay, it's the tequila!!!!";)

Using the OL is like buying DVC points at a DVC resort. One is not enough.

These purple boxes are huge, but we find ways to fill ours up. We even know some folks that don't bring any bags at all, they keep everything needed for their vacations in their lockers.

:) Bill
