Owner's Locker.... Useful?

Now we have two--mine is called "Duffy" (after a DIS members dog, who loves OL)

Then there are 2 OL fans who have a dog named "Duffy," though sadly our little guy is waiting across the Rainbow Bridge. Our Duffy is pictured at left as my avatar.

I have been wondering about an Owner's Locker, but wasn't sure about it. Now after our trip a few weeks ago, I totally see why it would be awesome. DD kept asking me why I didn't bring her swimmies, I ended up buying melamine bowls in the gift shop, I packed an insane amount of toiletries and still forgot my Tide pens...
I think we may order one before our next trip.;)

We LOVE our OL!!! I don't keep much clothing in ours other than a few things to keep us warm in the colder months, but we do keep a LOT of kitchen things in there as well as things like curling irons, cosmetics, tools, etc. This time I edited out one pair of shoes that needed to be replaced, and I made sure we didn't leave anything like sugar, coffee or oatmeal this trip, since we wont be back for 9 months.

John probably thought our locker was a bit lighter this time!:rotfl:

I used to take a minimalist approach to vacations, managing to do without a lot of "stuff" on our trips. But we decided to try OL and now I get it! I enjoy having plenty of hangers (especially plastic ones to hang dry damp bathing suits), a toothbrush holder, a lighted vanity mirror to combat aging eyes and dim lighting at AKV, decent sized coffee mugs and cereal bowls (AKV again), power strips and extension cords for all of our electronics, a bathrobe, a small digital clock for the other side of the bed, etc. It's handy having plastic wrap, aluminum foil and leftover containers since we do fix a few meals each stay. We also keep a supply of coffee filters in our locker.

We also have lots of toiletries which occasionally need replenishing or recycling (I take stuff home when it's getting close to it's expiration date to use it up) so you do need to make a list at the end of each trip of the things you need to bring down next time to restock the locker.

There are two downsides to getting a locker. The first is that it takes longer to pack up at the end of a stay since you have to pack up the locker as well as your luggage. I find packing up very depressing so I delay as long as possible but with a locker, I need to get started earlier. The second is that if you used to take your luggage from the room on your own, you'll be using Bell Services now since you will have a heavy locker in addition to your bags. So factor in the cost of tips.

We are so thrilled that we won an Owner's locker and a year free rental at the DVC Welcome Home Wednesday in Feb. We were thinking about getting one, but the initial cost kept it a dream. Well, now we own one and can't wait to get down to just carry ons!

We too keep cereal bowls in ours as well as a griddle for making pancakes.

We just ordered our first OL and I'm so excited to get it stocked up. I'll be shipping stuff before our trip so that I don't have to lug it down, unless my BFF who's going on the trip as well, drives. If she drives she has to leave room for a box in her car!

I'm keeping a list on my phone of what I want to put in the OL and got even more ideas from this thread! Thanks!

:) John if you are reading this could you create an OL Iphone APP. It could let us place items on a list and send you messages for deliveries and stuff like the OL dashboard. :thumbsup2

Nope, you guessed it, my OL was named after your sweet Duffy. I sent you a PM. :cloud9:

Hmmm, good thing I didn't name our locker Duffy in honor of our "Duffy" who passed away last year.

Well, I want to thank you people for nothing! ;) I just went and got a second OL and then went to Amazon and purchased a Keurig for it. I really hate microwaved water for tea (we usually stay in a studio). Toddy you were the eye opening comment. We've spent so much money on our 203 points at VWL. Pissing about $70 is just silly on my part. So, you all can take up a collection for us to help off set the costs that you all made us incur. LOL

Toddy...I'm here and an app is in the works....ideas of what you'd like to see (probably on another thread) would be most welcome.

I just started this thread. (Try not to hit your head on the floor, John, when you read the last thing I ask for.)

J - very cool! Please don't forget us Droid users. :) For me, it's pretty simple, the ability to schedule visits/make changes to visits, the abililty to update our OL lists. Love that you're working on this. :goodvibes
