Owner's Locker--The Ultimate Test?

OK ya'll....I am BAAACCCKK!!!! I'm glad John started a thread for ya'll so you could amuse yourselves at my expense while I was gone!:rotfl: I did not take time to get online all weekend (we had weather delays going down on Fri. so got no park time that night) and then ran commando for the 3 remaining days to get everything in that DS wanted to do...throw in a morning EMH and an evening EMH and we only got about 4 hours of sleep each night!!:scared: Yeah. We're BEAT!

OK, but so YES, I DID LOVE my brand new Owners Locker (as WE all knew I would) but ummmm (cough cough) WHAT cooler bag??:rotfl2::confused3 DH is cool with having ONE locker but I would not say that he's IN LOVE with it like I am. Let's give him time! He DID love that we could go straight to security when we got to the airport and that we didn't have to stand around at baggage claim when we got home!:thumbsup2 We each had 1 carry-on and they were STUFFFFFED full....esp. on the way home. Had to keep saying "NO! We can't buy that we don't have room to get it home!!":lmao:

I pretty much was just able to transfer stuff from my "Disney box" that I shipped down straight to the OL "as is". We had 3 bottles of water left over from our case of water and I was hoping to pop them in too but could only fit ONE!!:rotfl: I gave the remaining 2 to the bell service guy who came to get us for DME this morning. I only shipped down one 16 oz plastic bottle of my dear friend, Captain Morgan, for this trip and was hoping to upgrade to a fifth when we go in August but that might be pushing it. :rolleyes1 We did not use much of the consumable items so I don't have a lot of updates to make on my inventory list...some of the paper plates...I marked the sunscreens we used this time with a sharpie so we don't end up with dribs & drabs of 1/2 used containers (I'd prefer to finish one before moving on to the next). I used my ice cube tray but they didn't want to pop out very easily so I might look for a different one to take instead.

I hope we got the lid put on it right...I thought it should be tighter. Could it be possible we didn't seal it up right??:confused3 Is that possible??? They've never dropped & spilled have they??? Anyone???

BTW, I also LOVED my new packing cubes and will probably order some more sets!!:thumbsup2 For a full week or 10 days I think we will also have to check at least one large duffle but I really liked the organization they gave me. Basically, it only took me 5 min. to unpack them the other night & set them into the drawers / shelves. For our return, rather than spending time rolling the stuff back up I used 3 of the "medium" size space bags for our dirty laundry. It all fit in those + 1 of the "large" cubes!! We did still have a few items not worn (mostly 'cuz of erratic weather while we were there) so I overpacked just only slightly.

It was our first time staying at SSR and I think all in all the trip was one of our BEST EVER and yes, Owners Locker passed the Annie test!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2: I can't wait to see it again when we go in August...and manage to have a successful return at the car rental place at MCO!!:flower3:

(PS) John - the bell service guys at SSR like it when you bring them cookies!

LOL, glad to hear it Annie! You would have gotten a thermal bag if you had gone to the OL wine night on Tuesday. It appears to me you weren't there on a Tuesday though.

AhhhHAA!! :rotfl2: Perhaps when we go in August....that is a "free night" for us (no ADR's anywhere)!!

OMG !!!! Loved reading what you said about your "dear friend Captain Morgan" :lmao:

Maybe I can sell DH on OL with this - a place to
HIDE THE RUM :rotfl2::rotfl:

( your posts are the best Annie, I so enjoy reading them ::yes::

Did you hook the first end on before closing it and sealing it? Mine have always felt plenty tight.

Yes, we hooked it I think...I guess I was waiting for it seal up like a really BEEEG Tupperware container or something. I thought I would have to burp it to release the air or something!:rotfl2: Oh wait! I stuffed it too full for there to be any air!:rotfl: DOH!

LOL, yeah, it isn't *that* tight! I'm glad everything worked out well for you!

So, Annie, does your locker have a slight bulge in the top like ours? I have to sit on ours to put the seals on!

:rotfl: ALMOST bulging...that's why I took out the other 2 leftover bottles of water!! I pushed stuff in from the sides that was trying to jump out while DH sat on the lid to get it closed... I laid out our string backpack, DCL Castaway Cay tote bag and our big beach bag that we use at the water parks on the very top of the box to sort of have flatish stuff on top...that may have helped the bulging not be so bad by a little bit?!:confused3

OK, I can exhale now......
I'm just sorry you weren't here on a Tuesday night...you could have come to an Owner's Locker EPCOT Wine Evening and got a purple cooler bag (unless I run out-which I did the night Diane stopped by). I was looking forward to putting a face with the fantastic posts and toasting you with a glass of champagne! Oh well, next time.
Now, Annie, time to crank up the OL Member Referral program...I'll be glad to pay you in Captain Morgan that I'll deliver in person the next time you're here!

I am glad you liked your locker and more so SSR! I am still not convinced OL is right for us. I keep putting it off...

OK, now I'm workin' for the money (ahem, Captain)!:rotfl2: I can tell you that it took me a LONG, LONG time to convince DH it would come in handy. I am a famous overpacker from way back when and he has always hated all the bags I bring! THEN when the airlines started charging for all checked bags that made my plea more convincing!! That sort of pushed him over on the idea. That and all the tipping we always did for all of this luggage. At a dollar / bag...and I was typically bringing about 5 of them....tipped the parking lot shuttle drivers, the skycap, the bus drivers, bell services....coming & going!! Holy crap! Add it up & we were spending $50 on bag tips!! Now we did still tip a few dollars this past weekend but only like $5 to each bell service guy and a couple bucks to the DME guy & the parking lot shuttle guy 'cuz we only had our carry-ons...but so more like less than $20 altogether.

I don't know if you camp or not, and we don't go but once or twice a summer, but I have 2 REALLY large camping bins that keeps all of that stuff rounded up & packed neatly together. (DH thought I was crazy when I did those too but after one trip out he saw how valuable they were!) I figured it was the same idea. Keep all the Disney stuff together and down there so all I have to pack when we go is our clothes and any meds we might need. It was awesome not to have all those quart size baggies at the airport (I did have 1 baggie that had a few things, mainly items that I always have in my purse like neosporin & hand sanitizer & hand lotion etc.)

Anyway, I think it's an awesome idea and am ready to plan another trip for NEXT year 'cuz I'm down to only 1 trip ticker!! :)

Glad everyone's breathing again!

I'm breathing just fine - we unpacked our OL and minimally packed suitcases today and settled in to our 1 bedroom, offsite this time. Thanks to John and Brian, it doesn't matter if it's on property or off....we're home!

Annie, from the looks of those photos, you could have gotten a LOT more in that locker than you did! I think we have at least twice as much in ours! Of course, John probably gets a hernia when he has to lift ours into the van!

:laughing:I doubt TWICE as much...after all, my box DOES still weigh 44 /45 Lbs and my inventory list is 3 full pages long with over 125 items...but anyway, i am just WAY TOO ANAL to just throw it all in there loose...i would hate it if i didn't have stuff organized somehow by toiletries / kitchen items / my stuff / his stuff / otc meds etc... a lot of stuff IS loose tho, like our flip flops & umbrellas & ponchos....but i couldn't just throw loose bandaids, sharp knives & scissors, coffee filters & random pill bottles in there.:sad2: The packing & unpacking would take me longer too. i just keep picturing DS's old toy box when he was looking for something and it was on the bottom so EVERYTHING had to come out to find it! this way i can leave stuff in the box if i don't need it so it's not cluttering up the villa. but it's OK tho if you're good with it all loose - go for it!!:thumbsup2 other than a couple more bottles of leftover water & a bigger bottle of Captain i pretty much got everything in that i wanted to.:goodvibes

LOL! Well, Annie, we don't just "throw things in there" either. They just aren't packaged together in little bags. I'm realtively certain our locker weighed more than 50 pounds, because I know what an Airedale weighs, and I can pick up an Airedale easily, but the locker needs Dick to help!;)
