Owner's Locker or Ship it?

We will be renting a camper that will be delivered to Fort Wilderness in May.
This is our first camping experience but may not be our last since we have discovered this pet-friendly option for staying on Disney property. I figure that if we do this at least twice per year we could store her small kennel and some towels and whatever else would fit in the Owner's Locker rather than packing up the car every time. OL seems kind of expensive. What's more cost efficient, OL or shipping items to FW and back home each time?

Hi Nicole.

We had a question about the Owners Locker in a thread that got taken down by the OP but there was a suggestion to go ask about it on the DVC board.

I suppose it depends on how heavy your crate and other stuff would be. Of course, it's probably worth a little extra for the convenience of OL.

Thanks, Ed! I am following your latest trip report. It has been very helpful in my planning but the account of the tree falling on a camper made me go !! We are used to staying in hotel rooms so this trip is going to be an adventure.

Hey - just now saw you're in NOLA. We were down there last week of March for spring break. Pulled the pup to Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego. Parked at the Algiers ferry and walked on to go to the Quarter. Loved the WW2 museum. Are there other/better places to camp there? You may not be a camper based on your comment above but has anything caught your eye?

We used to live in Westwego now we live on the northshore. Fontainebleu State Park in Mandeville has a nice beach on the Lake Ponchartrain. We have never camped but have had family reunions there.

I hope your rental camper experience is a good one for you. The Fort is definitely pet friendly in certain loops and at the dog park. I still miss our first baby, our dog Sophie, and I bet she would have loved the Fort. She was part Chow, part Spitz, but very sweet and mild mannered.

Let us know how your visit goes. People seem to be gravitating more to camper rentals (popups, travel trailers, and fifth wheelers) which I think is great because it opens up the Fort experience to people who don't normally camp or own RVs.

You'll find the Fort to be more relaxing than one of the other on-property resorts. It's easy to spend the day there and not in a theme park.

BTW, did you happen to try Mo's Pizza while you were in Westwego?

No we only bought groceries at the Winn Dixie in Westwego.

Is Mo's good?

The days in the Quarter we ate lunch and dinner there.

The days on the road (Grand Isle, Tabasco, Oak Alley Plantation) we ate at the camper.

I feed five people (3 teens and 2 adults) and we SERIOUSLY blew our food budget on this trip (but it was delicious).

I'll remember Mo's for the next trip. It's probably not as expensive as the Acme Oyster House.

Yes, Mo's is very good and the pizzas are huge! You can buy by the slice though.

I have a friend camping at Fontainebleu this weekend. I can get some info from him for you if you'd like.
