Owners Locker for yearly visit?

I just signed up with a special promotion, I have three trips planned for the next year so if I see value in it I will keep is after the first year. I had a ball today hitting the dollar store and filling it up. I am excited that I won't have to carry all this stuff the next two trips.

:goodvibes Just another thing for us compulsive, obsessive planners!:lmao: As if we don't have enough to plan for the trip itself.....I already have my box to start filling up for my OL! Haaa....heaven!:thumbsup2

I think these discussions are very healthy...and they very accurately reflect the market. Our Members talk about how Owner's Locker has changed the way they vacation. While others say they have no need for us....and they're both right.

The reason no one has offered a service like Owner's Locker is that people haven't demanded it. They have packed, shipped or gotten along without. And you know what, they've had a good time at WDW for a very long time without Owner's locker.

But OL takes vacationing to a whole new level. I think the real key is that with an Owner's Locker you have things on hand that you'd never pack, ship or haul back and forth. Of course you can get along perfectly well without one of our Lockers. But can you really treat DVC like a second home? I'll argue that that is where we really play a role. We allow you to have things around you that make you feel more at home. Do you need them? Of course not. Is it nice. You bet it is.

That's why we offer a risk free trial. Give it a try and if you decide it's not for you for any reason whatsoever, we refund every penny you've paid.

I think this service will be more valuable now that airlines are starting to charge for a second check in bag, or even a first check in bag!

And shipping stuff is about as expensive as using Owner's Locker.

I disagree. I can ship a good size box of things UPS for about 20 bucks. Much cheaper than OL.

Well, since you are here, I have a question:

A lot of us do annual passes, and do two trips in a year, skip a year, then two trips...

So if I went at the end of February one year and at the middle of February the next year to use my pass, is that two trips in one year as far as OL is concerned?

I disagree. I can ship a good size box of things UPS for about 20 bucks. Much cheaper than OL.

The boxes I've shipped that are the size of an owner's locker have been $37 to $40.

And then, I've had boxes get lost! That's a serious drag!

That's always one of my fears, even with packing things in suitcases. I distribute things throughout everyone's suitcases. We've had good luck not losing suitcases, but on a couple of trips, they've been misplaced for a day or two, so we're missing things I need/want. And I really prefer not spending vacation time having to re-shop.

jodifla,

Your first trip (we call it a Visit) is included in your Membership Fee. We have an empty Locker waiting for you at your resort when you check in and then we pick it up full of your stuff when you check out. The date that your Locker comes into our warehouse for the first time becomes your Anniversary Date and that's when your year begins to run. It's sort of like a use year.
If you have the standard plan, one Visit per year is included. Additional Visits are $25 each.

La2kw, the trick with shipping is that people store things in their Locker that they'd never ship or haul back and forth. Bottles of wine and liquor. A large bottle of laundry detergent. A water filter pitcher. Our typical Locker winds up weighing about 50 pounds and we even have one that tips the scales at 90 pounds. The shipping cost of that one would take your breath away!!

We actually designed Owner's Locker to make sense for people who visit once per year. The best thing to do if you're on the fence is to try it...and if you don't like it, leave us an empty Locker and we'll refund every penny you've paid us--no questions asked.

I am the Queen of Frugal but after much deliberating decided to give OL a try. I love it! I keep all the usual; ponchos, umbrellas, backpack, full size toiletries, sewing kit, first aid supplies, etc. In addition, I have my feather pillow (always packed it before), framed pics of my kids and their families (love having them sitting around and magnetic ones on the fridge) and a faucet water filter and many other items. It's so nice not to have to gather all this stuff together for the trip, or put it away when we get back home.:)

That's sort of what I was afraid of.

Probably wouldn't be worth it for us then at this point.

It is a cool concept.

Good luck with your business!

For those who store wine, etc., do you bubble wrap glass bottles or what keeps it from getting broken if the locker was dropped? (thinking bell services). I am thinking of packing a crockpot but am concerned about possible breakage if dropped.

We only visit once a year and although we visit from Ireland and our use of the locker would be different from someone in the US, our Owners Locker is a real bonus for us. It's not how much it costs to ship a box or how much to buy something just for our trip then throw it away. It's about the convenience of our locker and the great service we get from John and his team. At the end of the day the locker costs less than one TS meal at WDW and if you thought of it in those terms you'd see what a great idea it is
