Hi all. I'm new to the chat. Our trip is June 1st through the 6th. First time to Disney with my family (one day on 1984 with ex-husband hardly counts) I am just feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of things to see and do.

Just wondering how much time should we allow to get from one park to another where we have dinner reservations? Not sure about the transportation system. Thanks.

Hi etmom, and welcome!

Don't stress, you'll have a great time!!!

As for your question, you should always allow at least 45 minutes to get from anywhere to anywhere using WDW transportation.

If you are more speicifc with where you're coming from and where you're going I'd be happy to help you (and so would lots of other people here!) figure out the best way to get there and about how long it will take.

If you are going with kids, my advice is to eat near where you are already planning on being. For example, plan meals at MK or the MK monorail (Chef Mickey's, O'Hana's, 1900 Park Fare) when you will be at MK. Some of the resort restaurants look interesting, but don't seem worth the travel time if you don't plan to be in the area. That way you won't be stressed about getting around.

Enjoy your trip!

It is overwhelming, but you'll have a good time no matter what you do. I've heard(gasp!) that there's some that don't plan anything at all and still have a good time

I guess the best tip I can give with regards to planning is deciding what parks you'd like to do on what days. Unofficial Guide Book carries per day historical attendance guides, although with the new MYM tickets, I believe they've done some updates on their website. Once you know which parks on what days, you'll have a better idea of what lunch or dinner PS's you'd like to make. IMO, as long as you have an idea what parks you're going to on which day you at least have a plan. And if you have hopper tixs and the park you're at gets too busy ,you can always go somewhere else. I would plan for an hour travelling time on the buses.

The only other tip-if you're travelling with little ones, be prepared for the unexpected, try to go along with the flow, and head straight for Fantasyland in MK first thing when the park opens. Oh, and another one that works good for us at any park, go straight through to the back of the park and work your way foward-at least if you arrive in the morning.

Have a great time, and read these boards for lots of good tips!!!

We make one Dinner Reservation a day. This way you know you will have a nice sit down dinner with the fam where you can relax and know you will have a seat for your party. You may have to wait a little while with a reservation but usually no longer than 15 minutes.
Breakfast and lunch we just go with the flow. Gives more freedom during the day. Some may want a burger or pizza or salad. Many counter service restaurants available.
But you will have to plan for that dinner time meal. Give yourself time to get where you have to.
We usually would be back to the resort and swimming around 3 or so and then shower and be on a bus an hour before our dinner seating time.
If you are in the park or area where your restaurant is even better.
The resort restaurants will be the quietest. Many to chose from. Enjoy!
We leave Thursday :earboy2:
