Overwhelmed, uncertain and considering cancelling.

We've booked OKW, which looks lovely. I believe there's a boat from there too? I think the bus to MK might be the best idea. Thanks so much.:)

Yes their a boat from their to sorry I kept seeing por and thought You was staying their. I highly recommend using the boat to go from market place to west side it will save you. Since their really nothing to see in pleasure island so their no sense to walk that far. I also recommend splitsvillie it has great food. That in the west side.

hi Glen, thanks for the reply. I can't seem to find an answer on the length of walk to the park, whether there will be a wait on the monorail, whether there are places to rest en route etc.

there can be a very long wait to get on the monorail, and there is no where to sit while doing so. if you do not get in the front, you may not be able to sit on it either. the ramp to get there.. is a steep sucker

benches are spaced at fairly heavy distances apart and are going to be in use nearly always.

the train is only at MK and again, limited benches in the waiting area.

From the front gate of any park to the action.. well it ain't for the weak

I would still go to guest services still and explain your issues. They may be able to help more then you think. I have heard of many people with stamina issues etc still benefiting from a GAC.

Another option is to get someone who is able to push a wheelchair to come with you. You could walk some and ride some.

I'd love to hear peoples opinions and/or experiences.

thanks xxx

Even if you avoided the MK, which is the hardest for me with my son, too, because taking the bus is so difficult, you will have to walk ALOT. (his chair does not fold up well, and it is very heavy, and I have to get it on and off the bus while hanging onto DS too). I drive to the other 3 parks. But you have to walk a good way to the entrance anyway, even if you park handicapped (which is ok for me, I am pushing him in a chair).

One solution for me is to try and stay at BLT, and walk (DS in his chair) to MK, or WLV, and take the boat to MK. The monorails are hard, because I have to push him up or down a steep hill, except at Epcot, where there is an elevator.

Most of the walking at WDW, is to get to the front gate, to get to your hotel room, and all around the park. Not the lines themselves, ironically. Good luck. I will say, if you ever have the opportunity, DL would work out much better for you. The 2 parks are right next to each other, and even the rides are closer together.

PS AK is challenging too, the ground is uneven, and there is a big hill right after you enter, and it is very spread out.

My 2 cents - in April I went to WDW (where I am an AP holder, 3-4 visits per year) after surgery for Achilles tendon repair in January. Recovery from such is long and slow. I'd been weaning myself from the walking boot for 12 days.

I was to walk as much as I can tolerate , but I was SLOW and tired VERY easily. The foot also screamed obscenities when i overdid it.

I rented a chair from walker Mobility--nothing but good things to say about their rates and SERVICE.

Stayed at AS Music and my friend Cathy was with me, now known as She Who Offered to Push.

She would push me to the food court then onto the bus then into the park of our choice that day. We would park the chair, collapsed, either in obvious stroller/ECV parking or find an unobtrusive place (usually behind a trash can) and I would walk for a few hours. We tied a bright bandana to the hand grips.

This system worked PERFECTLY!!! On the buses I would transfer to a seat and we would collapse the chair. Boarding was quick and efficient. When departing, if I was not too tired, I would step off at the back door and Cathy would hoist the chair. Or I would walk down the ramp. If I was too tired and creaky, we would use the ramp. Going up/down the steep front steps would have been hard for me.

I am not overweight and unless you see my really nifty scar, I don't look like I should be using a chair. I got NO nasty looks from anyone, anywhere.

If you are even considering doing this, I cannot emphasize how easy and trouble free it was! And when in doubt RENT THE CHAIR!!! I could not have endured the parks w/o it.
