I'm pretty new here so if I'm posting in the wrong spot, please let me know!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Disney World in October. My daughter will be on the verge of turning 4 and I'm hoping to hear some suggestions/recommendations for a resort (or any tips) that's best with a child this age? We're planning on coming back to the hotel around mid afternoon for a break (swimming, nap if necessary, whatever). We're in no rush to do it all but want to focus mainly on the Disneyland area.

Any help would be appreciated!

Questions I would ask is what are you planning to spend on your stay.....resort:Value, Moderate, Deluxe?

We stay at All -Star Movies .My Ds5 eats , sleeps breaths Buzz Lightyear and Woody. We stay so you look out in Andy's Room.

The value hotels are very family friendly in terms of theme and the fact that they are often filled with families with small children(My kids are bigger now, but still love all of the Values). Carribean Beach also offers Pirate Rooms, which would be fun if your DS is interested in those things. Honestly, I can't imagine any of the hotels being boring to a child. They are all Disney in their own ways.

Depends upon your budget. If money were no object - Polynesian. But, I like to go to WDW more frequently and spend as little as possible per trip. So, we stay at Values (usually POP CENTURY). It is a 'regular' hotel room, pools are basic (no slides) but big and nice, food court has plenty of offerings for kids and adults alike, and, the best part - you can usually get a room for between $80 - $110 per night. We have brought children that young and we have gone back to the room (but find it usually works better for us to just go as late as we can - like till 2 or 3 or 4 and go to the parks once a day on most days) using the bus. The monorail would make that afternoon trip back to the room quicker - but only if you are willing to pay. Other than monorail - all the other resorts will be about the same for traveling back to the room.

OOPS - just reread your post OP - was it a typo where you said 'Disneyland area'?? Disneyland Resort is in CA...DisneyWorld is in Orlando. All the recommendations I see so far are for DisneyWorld. So please ignore us all if you are talking DisneyLand Resort.

Wait ~ are you going to DLR ~ Disneyland or WDW ~ Disney World? If WDW I assume you mean you plan to spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom ~ and FYI ~ Disneyland at DLR is better than the MK @ WDW IMO. We stayed at Pop last Oct. and it was fun, my DD had fun in the pools. If you are going to DLR you should check out that board (my fave here) ~ http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26
