Also back in June 2001, my Uncle at 58 years old who ran marathons, always eat healthy & was not overweight dies of a heart attack, so I think it's unfair that these people who are overweight can keep living like this when a healthy person dies.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you are basically saying an overweight person should die instead of people who eat right and exercise. I guess some people deserve to die more than others???? Let's make a list on who we think should drop dead first. yay.

Why does it affect you so much what other people do?

I realize some people may flame me for this & I am not posting this to start trouble, I am posting this because it has been on my mind. When I was at WDW last month my family & I saw a lot of what we call overweight people using an ECV. I do realize there are some people that really need it because they can not walk, so I understand that part. What I have a problem is seeing these people at a buffet like the Golden Coral stuffing themselves with Fried Chicken, Pizza, bread dipped in oil, Meat Loaf, Ice Cream & etc. So my family & I said no wonder these people we were so overweight, it's because they eat so much which makes them to tired to walk. Here is another example I saw at the Food & Fun Center. We saw a family where the Mother & Grandmother who were both overweight & were in ECV's. Well they were eating Cheeseburgers with French Fries, Nacho's with Cheese, Chips & for desert Mickey Mouse Cup Cakes. Once again I say no wonder they are overweight & can't walk far. I guess I feel this way because when seeing overweight people in ECV's, stuffing themselves with junk food you don't know who has a real disability caused by an injury, because I have seen posts where people say they got dirty looks because they don't look handicaped. Also back in June 2001, my Uncle at 58 years old who ran marathons, always eat healthy & was not overweight dies of a heart attack, so I think it's unfair that these people who are overweight can keep living like this when a healthy person dies.

So if you want to all flame me go ahead, but this is how I feel.

Gawrsh, this sure doesn't seem very Disney-like...whether it's something that's been on your mind and bothering you or not. My first inclination would be to say that you have some unexplored feelings of anger/guilt/remorse over your "healthy" uncle's death, and that you are lashing out at what you see to be the guilty and undeserving diametric opposite of his lifestyle; but then I'm not a psychologist (although I *have* stayed at Holiday Inn Express on occasion).

So then I thought, this actually sounds more than a little immature, and when coupled with your typically awful grammar and spelling and combined with the inflammatory and/or completely inane nature of the subjects of "discussion" in the posts you start ("Who thinks people shouldn't be allowed to park at resorts if they're not staying there?" or "What do you tell your kids when they see two Mickeys within five minutes of each other at the parks?"), I have to ask, OP, how old are you?

Regardless of your age, as others have suggested, it might do you well to worry less about others and their physical appearance, dietary habits, and real or perceived disabilities. The fact that you were interested (obsessed?) enough to remember so clearly what the two women at the F&FC were eating whilst astride their ECVs is very telling...and I'm afraid the story it tells isn't apt to cast you in the kindest of light. MYOB, and concentrate on the reason you and your family are at WDW---not what others are doing around you that has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on your vacation...unless YOU allow it to, which you obviously have.

For the record, my DM uses a ECV at the parks, and as a matter of fact, she is Pooh-sized, too. She is also living with COPD, the beginnings of what her doc's think is rheumatoid arthritis, and has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia (CFS) by previous physicians she has seen. So, does she need the ECV? Or, oh oracle of all that is proper and appropriate, does she DESERVE the ECV? Does she even deserve *gasp* to LIVE since she has a few extra pounds on her? My family likes to think so, and we have a great time at the parks together. Best of all, if we were to happen by some trollish dolt shooting her dirty looks because they THINK she doesn't need to be on an ECV (or even to be allowed to draw breath---which she has a hard enough time doing anyway, but what would you know or care of that?), we don't even notice, because that's not WHY WE'RE THERE!!! We certainly don't dwell on it and other various and sundry small issues and wait until we get home and then bombard a message board with our peccadilloes and obtuse viewpoints, and IMHO, you shouldn't either...trust me, it will eat you up from the inside out, and not only that, but it will get you some pretty passionate rebukes/flames from other posters, and in a worse case scenario, it could result in some type of physical altercation, were you so foolish as to make your opinion known at the time you witness what you perceive as an "injustice" by the overweight.

Life's too short, man. And that's all I have to say about that...

Except this:

While I'm at it, didn't you post here under some other name like APOCOA Joker or something similar to that before you became CR Fan? If I'm wrong, correct me, but IIRC, the writing styles and :stir: posts seemed to be very much the same between these two screen names...just wondering?

Sorry for the rant, folks; we now return you to our regularly scheduled programming. Please stay tuned for the next troll-feeding, which takes place right here on this thread, about, oh, every six minutes or so throughout the day (or until the mods shut it down, which I *wish* they would, as it serves no purpose other than to get folks like me somewhat riled up...and that's not what I'm here on the DIS for).

I would understand your gripe if the person using the ecv got up from it and then walked around the buffet singing and dancing and acting like gene kelly in singing in the rain etc, and then sat back down whincing in pain. But in general these people do need these vehicles to make their standard of life a little better. But im not saying that there are not certain people that do use these ecv's because they are bone idle!! just because they are overweight it doesnt make them lazy. fat skinny tall small there is good and bad in all.

This seems to be a new hobby for CR Resort Fan 4 Life. I have seen this poster start other threads just to cause trouble. It seems she has alot of time on her hands to worry about how other live, what they eat, where they park and where they stay while at Disney. So when you say you didn't start this tread to stir the pot...I would like to recomend a 12 step program for liars.

My husband and I are both overweight. We both use ECV's. We both live productive lives. We might be overweight, but you are rude, and we can always go on a diet.

OK. I am not replying to the OP, I am replying to EVERYONE else on this thread. Why on earth have you responded to him??? One of two things is true here. Either he is trying to :stir: Or he has such a crazy outlook you aren't going to change his mind.

Now I am not saying you can't respond. Sometimes responding makes you feel slightly better I guess. But I just don't want anyone to think they can change this person by responding intelligently...

Everyone but the OP have a good day. pixiedust:

OP, go to your room and think about what you did. :badpc:

Those ECV things are a pet peeve of mine, but for a different reason. I work for the Home Depot, and our store (lower volume) doesn't have them. What we do have are two regular wheelchairs ,handicapped parking, and handicapped bathrooms for our disabled customers. Apparently that's not good enough, I can't tell you how many able bodied people (most significantly overweight) WALK up to the Customer Service desk and curse me out because we don't have "motorized shopping carts" for them to use. At which point I'll show them the wheelchairs w/ baskets and they'll walk off in a huff...

I snipped the OP for space...
A few thoughts:
1. It's none of your business.
2. Most people eat what *I like to call crap...most likely including YOU. It's not healthy, detracts from quality and length of life, and costs ME money out of MY pocket for subsidized healthcare costs. Yes, it ticks me off and YES, it's really stupid and self-destructive...but there isn't a darn thing I can do about it except eat right and exercise myself, and raise my son to do the same. :thumbsup2
3. You have no idea why someone is overweight. There COULD be a medical reason. I agree that many, many Americans are overweight or obese, but it's not for you to pass judgment as to why any particular person is not svelte...even if you see them eating junk food. :rolleyes1
4. You have no way of telling who has a disability or not.
And that brings us back to #1:
It's none of your business.

I've been on the DIS for about 18 months. I've had my share of disagreements with people, but I've never put anyone on "Ignore" before. This has now changed with the OP. I can't imagine respecting anything else she has to say about anything, since her comments are so disrespectful of others, even though she would disagree with that.

Oh, and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Life is unfair -- so deal with it.

Know what bothers me?

21 year old jerks, who go to various rests. to stalk people just to see what they are eating, if they have disabilities, if they need any type of assistance, and then come post it on a public forum. And to top it off, post in the Theme park strats page, instead of the CB (not that it's ok there-but would more so fit this stupid ignorant thread, then here).

That about sums it up on my behalf, because his "lack of a" point, isn't even worth responding to.

CR Resort Fan/Club Jester has never been rational. You really can't expect anything better than this from this person. Nothing to get upset over.

Move along, folks. Nothing more to see here! :rolleyes1

OT: I am noticing lately some Threads are started just to ANGER DISer's and tonight right now this is one of them. :stir:

To CR: Is that exactly what you wanted to do is start a Thread and see just how many pages it will reach with people flaming you? :stir:

There are just so many fabulous topics to discuss in this World of ours WHY do people have to be RUDE to get a DISCUSSION going. :furious:

It amazes me that every single Thread I read from any OP that the LAST sentence ends in..."go ahead flame me"...I am seriously beginning to think they just need some attention even if it is FLAMING attention. :stir:

It's sad... but true.

You never know the full story, so dont be so quick to judge others. Sure, the world would be a different place if no one used ECVs or was overweight, but hey, would it be a better one? I don't think so somehow....

Now if the OP had posted about able-bodied people using parking spaces at stores, parks, cinemas etc reserved for those with disabilities, to save them from walking a few extra yards, I'd have been jumping up onto the same soapbox....

I've seen similar threads over the years...never any different conclusions reached.... perhaps it's time to retire this one now Mods?

I'm just here to say stop posting on these TROLL threads.

You only keep bringing them back to the top of the list.

So stop, if you don't like them.

I just don't ever respond to them.

No more posts and it will die.
