My DH is flying home from WDW early because he has to work. He is overweight and I was wondering about booking him on SW? Last time we flew SW we had extra seats because of the kids so I was not worried.

Anyone have to buy an extra ticket because of size on SW? Just wondering.

TIA

There are several (long) threads here over the last few months about this exact issue. Just look through the pages of this board, or search for "customer of size" or "cos"

Southwest's FAQ about their Customer of Size policy is VERY informative. Check that website - click on search or find (I forget the exact term) then type in Customer of Size

Yeah, I know what you mean. I generally don't pay attention to threads I don't think apply to me... then a few weeks later I'll have the exact question one of those threads would have answered!

Can he fit into one seat with the armrest down without taking space from the adjoining seat? If not he will need to purchase a second seat. That ticket will be refunded is the flight is not full.

how "overweight" is overweight in your opinion? dh has flown swa numerous times w/out needing to purchase the extra seat... he's 6'4" tall, very broad and weighs about 325... wears a 46-48 pants... maybe that helps you decide if your dh will have a problem...

"Overweight" is really a misnomer in this case. What matters is, as Anne said, whether the passenger is so wide as to extend over the edge of the assigned seat -- basically whether the person is more than ~16" wide when seated.
