Overthinking - points and booking ?

I think I am starting to confuse myself. If I've got points that expire in April, I believe they can be used to book a resort after april so long as the booking takes place prior to their expiration...?

Likewise, if I have points that are coming in April, my travel time is after April, do I have to borrow those points to book my vacation earlier then April?

Does this make sense to anyone and can someone let me know if I'm thinking correctly? (I'd better not try to balance my checkbook tonight, if I can't figure out DVC, I've got no hope of reconciling my budget... heehee!)

You have it backwards. The points have to be available during the actual stay, not when you make a ressie. So if you're not making a trip prior to April '07, you need to either bank those points or do something else with them (rent them, deposit into II, etc.).

For your trip after April 1 '07, you would use either '06 points which had been banked to '07, or '07 points.

Thank you. I knew something wasn't right with my thought process. We've only owned DVC for a year and we had booked and used points in the same use year, so this was a different situation for me.

Now I can get on to the fun vacation planning stuff!
