Overthinking a solo dinner

Done Tiffins solo several times with no issues. Great place to unwind with a late lunch and cocktails after a busy AK morning.

I just had dinner at Cape May at the Beach Club solo (they're offering a 40% deal for passholders Mon-Thurs) and it was a great experience! I hadn't dined there in ages and having recently been on the Disney cruise, it gave me a Cabanas buffet feel, so maybe that's why I liked it so much? I think there's so much going on there that a table for 1 doesn't really get noticed as everyone's busy doing their own thing, kinda like Boma (though I do admit the food at Boma is better).

The only odd part was when I showed my server my annual pass to get the discount at the end of the meal, I saw her face go from a smile to an immediate drop. I wasn't sure if that was because she now had to apply the discount or what, but the receipt still suggests the gratuities (18, 20 and 22%) based off the original price, so its not like the servers get less of a tip.

I always made it a practice to mention it at the beginning of the meal - the server would usually ask me if I had dining plan or any discounts on coming to the table. I think they're supposed to, so having to re-ring it meant she had skipped that step and some managers might give a hard time about that.

I don’t mention my AP until time to pay the bill. Sometimes the server will ask me if I have one but never before I’ve ordered 🤷🏽‍♀️.

From what I've observed, I think this is supposed to be the procedure. In reality, I would imagine that this step often gets skipped when they're busy. Thus, the manager reinforcement piece, and a potential explanation for the facial expression change.
