Overthinking a solo dinner

Thanks! I agree wholeheartedly on Citricos and have also had some great stuff at Kona, but I don’t intend to venture out of the Crescent Lake area this night if I change current Boma plans. Hell would freeze over before I went to Disney Springs on a Saturday night… My mom and I are doing V&A’s a few days later, so although cost for this particular night is not a major consideration, it certainly does not need to be signature. (Btw, if you like sushi, I highly recommend checking out Shiki Sai. That place is the bomb, and it seems to attract more of an adult crowd than many other places in Epcot.)
Thank you very much for the suggestion. Based off your comments I’d might slide over to Shula’s 🤷‍♂️

If I go to Shula’s without my DH, he will straight up find a lawyer 😂.

@GADisneyDad14, when I mentioned the closure to him, he was — let’s just say “displeased.” Which is sort of silly since he hardly ever comes with me, but hey, elimination of any cow purveyor was never going to go over. Hope Bourbon Steak is amazing, there is one up in OC that gets raves.

We just did a couples only trip for 8 days and did signature dining only. Can give a very hefty vote for two. Citricos House salad was amazing and filet was so good my wife thought I was having a seizure. Every single bite deserved reflection. 😄. A close second for me personally is Summer House at DS. More upscale than I thought it would be and the potato salad devil eggs were delicious. The main dish was Cobia and it was absolutely fantastic. Done to perfection. Overall I would rate it a 10 whereas Flying Fish would be an 8. California Grill was Meh, and Steakhouse 71 was terrible I could do better with a Kroger steak. Turf Club at SSR outperformed easily. Trattoria Al Forno was another disappointment. The strip steak was thin and all cupped up. I’d be embarrassed to present that. We had drinks at Trader Sam’s and found Kona Cafe is a sleeper. The California rolls are good as was the Mahi. The setting is not overly great however. Narcoosee surf and turf is fantastic and has a wonderful fireworks view of MK.

I had good experiences at 71. It has been a few years so I hope steak sourcing hasn’t changed.

The service at 71 was amazing and they earned a fantastic tip for all the hard work. The poor guy was working several tables and sweating his can off. The food however would be a significant drop off a Longhorn Steakhouse

It could have been an off-night, but my hubby and I had a terrible meal a year ago at Trattoria Al F. We were seated 45 minutes late, stuck in the middle of the room and it was so crowded and noisy. Our server disappeared for long periods. The lasagna was cold in the middle and it was just meh. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary which caused our server to recount his painful divorce. ( we are ministers, and I swear my husband has a permanent blue light on his head that flashes share your traumas with me. I run away to WDW to get a little space). Maybe it was just a bad night, but in a head to head our local Olive Garden wins.

We were at the Rosa Mexicans across from the Lincoln center in NYC a few months ago. The guacamole was terrific, then it was downhill from there. I don’t know if the one at the Swolphin improves upon what we had.

I would still be going to Boma 😁

Any of you have experiences with solo dining at Tiffins… after reading about the experiences in this thread i am a bit worried now

Never had a problem solo at Tiffins, I've been in several different rooms at normal tables. Though I am often there at what seems to be at a slightly earlier time for many people (5ish most often) and during traditionally "slower" times like September or the better parts of mid-November, so the rooms aren't anywhere near full.

Awesome thanks! I’m hoping to go around park close but normally AK closes pretty early in the summer.

I recently dined at Tiffins solo and it was wonderful! The service and food was excellent! I'm so happy I did it, it was a great experience and I love all the art!

There is no restaurant in WDW were you would feel uncomfortable eating solo even V+A. It’s just the vibe that Disney works hard to foster.

Have fun.

I did Il Mulino solo in December. I was at a table, and it was a nice, but busy, meal. The bar the night I was there was jammed
I booked Rosa Mexicano - I still have my Boma res, but I am guessing I will cancel. On my way to the airport now, yay! Except omg, it looks ridiculously hot next week. Thanks to everone for your comments:).

Safe travels!

I just returned from a 7-day solo trip and did a mix of counter service, bar&grill/lounge, and table service dining. Every single place was welcoming and comfortable, from Geyser Point to California Grill. Disney gets a large number of solo travelers and business/convention guests, so they are used to it. I do try to tip extra well at table service because I’m usually taking up 2-top. Sometimes I read a book or play on my phone between courses, and I never have felt uncomfortable.

Have fun and enjoy!!!

Overthinking is a favorite pasttime or mine. But, it sounds like you have a nice plan. Enjoy your trip!

Oh, I am a-ok with being (and dining) solo at Disney. I agree on all points! Love that you posted this, though. I know I was really nervous about dining solo the first time.

I occasionally feel odd waiting by myself for a traditionally kiddie ride or water slide, but restaurants at WDW have always been great as a solo diner. The waiters can be fun to talk to, but you can also just sit and enjoy the ambiance.
