override air conditioning?

Ugh. I totally forgot about this thread when we were at Disney last week. I read it prior to leaving and made a mental note of it and then promptly forgot about it. Our room temp always indicated 65 degrees but yet the room never felt cool, or even felt like the a/c was on. I like it chilly when I'm sleeping and the room always felt a bit warm and muggy.

I could kick myself for totally forgetting about this override thing when I was there.

Love the balloon idea. We will definitely try that next trip!

I like it to be about 64 for sleeping. Any warmer and I have difficulty sleeping. It sounds crazy because most people are cold when I am comfortable. I live in Canada and I turn the heat off at night even in winter and open my windows. I do have 2 warm comforters on my bed, but it goes down to the 20's and I love it. I dislike summer and love winter (except for the short dark days).

I have brought a ribbon (tied to my luggage for easy ID) and taped it to the top of the thermostat.. the air moves it enough to keep the air on

I know! People think I'm crazy! I have 2 Newfoundland dogs that would never come inside, though, in winter if I insisted upon a warm house! So, i have become acclimated to cool temps. (Their winter coats are about 2" thick and you can't pull it apart enough to see their skin. It makes for a lot of fur in the house in the spring when they shed their winter coat!)

I have to confess, it doesn't get as cold in Newfoundland though, as it does in Chicago! It goes down into the 20's at worst, for the most part.

Off topic...I grew up with two newfies also they were miserable in the summer and loved the cold, and of course the water.

So nice of you too keep it cool inside for them I love it when people spoil their doggies.

on top to the thermostat. Sometimes, I don't need tape..just running the ribbon across the top secures it. There is a dark plastic piece that runs on the top left corner. There is a motion sensor there. If the ribbon (the light curly type) is across that and the fan is on, the ribbon moves just enough that the sensor registers it as "movement" and won't allow the thermostat to shut off.

I wish I had a picture, but it never occurred to me to take a picture of it..
