How do you do this? We stayed in the YC in Oct and the room was always stuffy and humid even with the ac on the lowest setting and the fans on.

We are going back to the YC in a few days and want to be able to fix the temp if it is too warm

I think you'll get a better response on the Resorts thread. I know I've read some tips there.

I just did this my past trip at Saratoga & I did it last summer at Poly. Press the down arrow (the one that lowers the temp) & the off button at the same time. You will see the letters bp show up on the screen, this means that you have bypassed the settings. From there, you can set it on any temp you like. It only lasts for maybe 24 hours or so, you may have to do this at least once a day. There's nothing worse then walking into a warm hotel room after spending all day at the parks!

Thanks, Im such a dope, I thought I was on the resort boards...someone please shove me over there :thumbsup2

Here are the directions to overiding the a/c system:

"On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there willbe the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The maintenance man (Christopher ) that did this for us said it was not a problem doing this as they do it for people all the time. Guess they get a lot of complaints."
Not to be critical of any other poster but the ballon thing is just not an option. When it ends up in a corner, its stuck there and the ac will shut off after a few minutes. In addition you have to stand on a chair to adjust the air vent in a way to get the air to circulate "around" the room if to even be mildly successful in getting the ballon to keep moving.Besides, why buy a ballon when setting the thermostat is FREE.
This process with the thermostat has worked for us at POP, ALL STARS, CBR, Y&B, BW,CR and GF.Our most recent stay (last week) was at WL, had a refurb room but the thermo was old style, just set it and forget it.

Just an FYI - I've wanted to follow these instructions before, but I haven't come across a thermostat with a power button. The one's I've seen have only had a button to change from fan only to A/C, and the up and down arrows. I don't believe they are all the same, as obviously some people HAVE had a power button. Just don't be surprised if there isn't one - and if there isn't one, you can only set it to about 68 degrees (which is no where cold enough for me).

Thanks everyone, we never had an issue with the ac anywhere else, just the YC. Hope we dont have to use these instructions but you never know. ;)
