Overprotective Mom question

A few months ago a group of friends and myself were at DL and during Fantasmic, we were walking towards the NOS right in front of Mark Twains boat and me and my pal Nichole see a little boy no more than 18 mo. old trucking alone on his way just by himself. We looked at each other and then grabbed him before he got near the water. Suddenly the friend of the mother comes running up to us thanking us for finding him. We all walk back together with a cast member just to make sure its all kosher and stuff. The mother, visibly shaken thanked us and said that they were all watching Fantasmic and he must have unclipped himself from the stroller and just worked his way out through the crowd and was on his way. She didnt even see him go. So, that being said, I dont have kids and can only suggest that one holds their kids while watching Fantasmic or fire works or a parade or what ever because , those little ones, they are wiley! The mother was so freaked out and she said that IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN I personally like those little back pack looking things with the handle attached to the parents wrist. My Dfi hates that idea, but I dont care,I am right and he is wrong and that is what we will use on our kid when we have one.

I hate to break it to you all, but the only requirement to work there is a social security number and a pulse. There are "standard" questions on a application, but nothing more complex than that.

CM's are trained when they find a lost child to hand around the area where they found the kid for a few minutes walking around, and if the parents cannot be found (which they do in 95% of the time) to walk them over to lost children (or if you are unable to do it, find a CM that can).

Also there is not a ton of plainsclothes security walking around. A few around gift stores for shoplifting, but not random people walking around.

i have told my kids to find "a mom with kids or a lady who looks like grandma" if they get lost. and once they have their safety tats (google it) they will have my cell #.

if yo uhave young kids and think they cant learn a phone number, make it their password on the computer, if they are allowed to use it. my dd had almost learned our old phone number, then we moved. i granted her computer access, but the new phone number is her password, and she totally remembers it because hey, thats how she gets to play games!!! now, she knows our home number, not my cell #, but when we are at disney she will have a safety tat and clear instructions on finding a "mom or grandma lady" and the safety tat will have my cell #. same for ds, who is the "runner" in our family. you better believe if i lose either kid i am checking both phone numbers every 5 seconds until i get a message. i can count on dd to tell someone our home # or show them the safety tat. ds is more likely to be interested in something shiny....

One easy way for kids to tell a CM from a regular guest with a name tag--the CMs have white name tags. Regular guest tags are colored. Also, CMs have a city and state or country on them (except College program CMs who have a college on them). Guest tags are name only.

OK so maybe I'll tell Eamon to stay where he is and yell for me, which would probably work b/c he calls me by name rather than title

Make sure your kids know the area code, too!!!!



We were at Universal Studios yesterday. Happened upon a lost 5-year old. An employee was nearby, but my sister the super mom didn't like how he handled the situation and told the guy the kid will use her phone. He tried calling mom but didn't know the area code!

We asked him what city he lived in, thankfully we knew it was 714, and we found mom quickly.

The employee was certainly following his training (he called lost children, they were sending over someone to collect the kid) but that was far away from where we were. The cell phone was faster. And there is no way you're going to tell my sister the super mom to not help a confused child.

Yay for super moms! It's comforting to know that in a place like DL there are so many watchful moms willing to help.

I've been practicing my phone number with DD including area code!
