Hi All,

My DD is at WDW staying on our points at SSR. She is in the Grand Stand & loves the area.

She has remarked about the large family/friends groups that are everywhere. As she was coming out of the Mexico pavillion, she was caught in one of the groups. You just walk w/them until you can get out! Anyway, someone in the group yelled to the others " Hey! We need to find a place to sit down. Grandpa is drunk! ":rolleyes1

A couple of days later, she was in the MK & got stuck in another group. They were of the slow walk & stop kind! It seems that a couple of steps would be taken, then they would stop & slowly turn in a circle w/their mouths open. She overheard some people behind her say " Watch out! There are Zombies ahead. "

From now on, when I am at WDW, I am going to pay more attention to what is being said around me. Those are some of the best lines that I have heard in a long time.:rotfl:

Hope

It's just DH and I so we seem to hear alot of what other people say around us or while we are just sitting on a bench, taking it all in.

This past trip we overheard a little boy say to his parents "If you don't buy me that - I am running away and you'll be sorry!" with as much conviction as he could muster.

I can't even say that the boy was bratty - it just seemed that he really needed whatever he was talking about and couldn't think of any other way to get it. We looked at his parents and gave them our best "we feel for you look" before walking away with a slight smile on our face.

It's not like we are intentionally listening to conversations - but sometimes you just can't help it. It can be very comical!

"Grandpa drunk - never heard that one before!

I have a thing about kids. I really feel sorry for the little ones and I often wonder why their parents insist on bringing them to WDW when it's so hot and crowded.

I asked our adult daughter on our last vacation what she liked best about WDW during our first vacation there when she was seven. Her reply was, "I don't really know. I remember that we went here, but I couldn't even tell you if we saw Mickey". So much for the memories! :goodvibes

Now here is the worst thing and probably the funniest thing that we heard at WDW about a year ago.

A mother was trying to deal with her crying little one who was obviously tired and red faced hot. She told him to stop crying a couple of times and the child just got louder as he became more uncomfortable.

The mother was at her wit's end and said in a very loud voice.

"Stop crying damn it... we're at WDW, the happiest place on earth."

Now when any of us make a negative comment about the crowds or long lines, someone will always say,

Stop crying damn it... we're at WDW, the happiest place on earth. :)

Ah, yes, isn't people watching grand? DH and I love to people watch and make comments to each other on the down-low. ;)

"No baby we're not going to Disney World today, we are going to Epcot."

Anyway, someone in the group yelled to the others " Hey! We need to find a place to sit down. Grandpa is drunk! ":rolleyes1

That is hysterical! I am always in tune with what is going on around me (am I nosey???lol). For me, part of the fun at WDW is interaction with other guests, people watching, sharing a smile. Grandpa is drunk!!:lmao:

Our favorite is still seeing a little girl melt down and yell at her mother "I don't like you Mommy!" Mommy yelled back at her "Oh yeah? Well, I don't like you right now either" Little girl didn't know what to say to that.....

And the time we saw a couple, both on ECV's have an argument. One of them finally had enough, veered a sharp right and just drove away. I suppose it was the equivalent of stomping out of a room.

I love people watching at WDW.

I was behind a man having problems with the finger scan. After he got through, he said "it must be some new Obama trick, some ID recording thing".:lmao:

Zombies~! That is classic. That perfectly describes the mouth-breathers who have no concept of how to walk in a public place, be it WDW or the local mall. If you need to stop, step to the side!!! I'm definitely using that term.
I have always eavesdropped and you can hear some really funny lines that way. I love to hear sarcasm the most, especially when it's directed at a spoiled kid or a diva-type.

We love to listen and watch when we are in WDW! Besides picking up some pretty funny lines, we also see some really hilarious T-shirts!:lmao:

:)

DW and I are both teachers and can only take long vacations in the summer. Traveling from L.A., it's got to be a long vacation. We dragged our kids along every year in the summer and they survived just fine. It's hot at home too, so we might as well sweat at WDW.

My favorite was one of those multi-generational groups all wearing personalized T-shirts. You know the "Y family reunion WDW T-giving 2008", all the same color etc.

Well they are at MK getting a photopass person to take a gang picture in front of the castle. A bunch of the women in the group start ragging on "Susan's DH for being a weiner for not wanting to go on Space Mountain."

I think the matriarch in charge was trying to get them to stop, as all the kids were starting to laugh. And this was early in the day! Would have loved to hear the comments toward the end of their day at MK! :rotfl2:

One of my favorites from this board:

On being "herded" out of Mickey's Philharmonic, one man was heard to say, "Mooooo!"

Uh oh, that may have been my DH mooing--he has been known to do that when he feels like they are herding him. :scared1::scared:

I love to people watch at WDW.

My two favorite stories involve children:

In the first case, I had gone up to the Astro Orbiters to take pictures of my son and his friend riding. After the ride finished, on the elevator down a little girl, maybe 3 or 4, told her mom "Whew, that ride made me busy!". Her mom replied "No, dear, that ride made you dizzy". The little girl looked up at her mom with disgust and said "I said busy, I meant busy!!!"

In the other case, I was in the shop near the Lion King show in MK. A mom comes barreling through dragging her young son, again about 3 or 4, by the hand. The son exclaimed "Boy, Mom, you're going to drive me to drink!"

Kids say the darndest things!!

My DH has said that he's going to start "mooing" also! I'll see if he remembers when we return to WDW in November.

Reading your different experiences is really fun! So many times, all that is written about are problems. Now, Grandpa being drunk is going to be a problem ( especially since they are in Mexico & it's a long way to the front ). But it is funny since it isn't my Grandpa!:lmao:

I have seen many "zombies", & have gotten stuck behind them many times. I will be more "respectful" now that I know they aren't really living. I think the "zombies" are the ones in their own little world & have abslutely no idea that they are in anyone's way.:confused3

I have really enjoyed your replies!

Thanks,
Hope

I just got home from a busy 13 hr day at work. gotta love the hospital for the shifts. lol. And this thread really made my evening! I love these stories. Had me really laughing out loud. Love the Zombie one.:worship:

We saw many kids having meltdowns while we were there in June. I just felt blessed cause my kids have never really done that there. I think they are there best when others are having their meltdowns and they watch in amazement at them.:rotfl2: Please keep these coming. I wish i could remember some of the funny things i heard. Will keep my ears out in Oct.

This was said to me by my dd. Out of the blue she said, "You're the best mom in the world." We were just walking by the BC store on our way to our villa. A gentleman behind us said something like...I'ts good you feel that way because she is the only one you are likely to have.
