Overbooking ADR's without cancelling

I've practically given up on Le Cellier - perhaps if those selfish multi-reservation people would play nice I might get it! hehe :teeth: We've decided on Marrakesh instead - I think it will be an interesting change of pace from the standard steak and seafood.

And incidently, I would most definitely let you cut in line for Star Tours if you give me your LC ADR. Besides, you'd only be cutting in front of DH ;) ....I don't like Star Tours (can't do those simulation rides), & DKids are too young.

When are you going to be at WDW? I will be there from Sept 30 - October 7. I do have an Oct 6 ADR for Le Cellier at 2:50pm. IF you are going to be there during that time, let me know. I would be happy to give you my ADR. I have never been to LC so I don't know what I am missing. But I am SURE I can find something else at EPCOT that would be just as wonderful.
No strings attached (cept the Star Tours cutting ... lol)
Let me know. My attempt to bring some pixiedust: to this thread.

I booked two ADR's for Cindy's, one for lunch and one for supper, both on the same day. Disney dining called me to ask if I meant to book twice. Actually, I forgot to cancel one when I booked the second. I would think they would have some fancy system that wouldn't allow double bookings within a given time frame.

Well at least from reading through all of this bickering, I have figured out 1 positive thing (FOR ME) If, when I do finally get to make ADRs (12--02), and I do choose to make lunch and dinner ADRs, not certain of which timing would be better for my todldler. By the time the end of April comes around, and I decide that Ariel will be fine with the 5pm dinners, or that I should cancel them... Someone calling hoping to get into the place that I had cancelled, will feel lucky lucky, lucky... These ADRs must be a real ***** to get. Ill find out for myself in December. Things werent nearly this crazy 7 years ago... BTW, I wont be whining or complaining about needing to come up with second or 3rd choices of where Id like to eat, since I am slightly strict about timing. And it shouldnt be *that bad* booking for a 9 day trip 180 in advance :lmao:

DREAMERGIRL!!!
You just 'bout brought a tear to my eye. ;) How very nice of you to offer your LC ADR! Though I never would have taken it, it sure was a sweet offer. Really, thanks!

Believe it or not, our dates are close - we'll be there 9/25-10/2! Now wouldn't that have been funny if we were gonna be there on 10/6!?

Again, thanks for the nice offer. You are my Oprah of the DIS boards. ;)

Seriously, I joke about it but I think we are going to eat ourselves so silly  that week that I will hardly be able to stand the thought of a little restaurant called Le Cellier. Gluttony rocks!

Wow!

I was one of those hoping this thread would be closed and now I am so thankful it didn't.

For some reason, the nonsense and self-justification quieted all on its own and some great things actually came of it. Not only did people celebrate their ADR"s finally getting released but someone actually offered to give up one for someone else.

I am so impressed to see such great things come from this thread and I hope this brings a smile to many faces. There are such awesome people in this world. No matter how loud the others are, don't forget that.

And Dreamergirl *definitely* needs to be tagged Oprah of the DIS boards! Is that not the funniest thing ever?

Guys, I had a really great day and this just made it even better. :cheer2:

I really really hope you have a wonderful vacation. Keep calling on LC, you might just get lucky. If not, I know with all of the other wonderful choices PLUS the F&W fest you will have many delicious treats throughout your vacation!
I can't wait to get there!
Hope to see you around, it was a pleasure "writing" you! :wave2:

Ahhh... how sweet to be "tagged" as someone I really admire. Although, I only offered because sometimes it is just nice to do something unexpected for someone else! I love how you always mention karma and boy ain't it the truth? You never know when one good thing you put out into the universe might come back to you one day! Besides, Disney should = HAPPINESS! Right? :goodvibes I can't stop grinning.. I feel like a kid again! WOOOO!!!
Thank you for sticking around the thread. I am THRILLED it might have finally ended up ok!

Thanks! We all need to get back to basics now and again. Do unto others and all that jazz! Thank YOU for starting this thread. It ended up A-OK!
Have a GREAT evening.

They very well may turn away walk-ins, most restaurants do when they are extremely busy....but an ADR does not hold a particular table for any of Disney guests...It holds a spot for you in line above the walkins and other later ADRs.
But if a restaurant's ADRs indicate it's at capacity for that entire meal, they won't/can't TAKE walk-ups. And as I stated above, last September I couldn't get a (at the time) PS for Le Cellier or CRT prior to my trip or at ANY time during it.

Oh, wow. You're willing to GIVE away an ADR for the self-described 'most popular restaurant at Disney'? Awesome! But, um, 2:50 on October 6 isn't convenient for me. Would you please change to a much later time, earlier that week? Then I'll be happy to take it off your hands :teeth:

Note: Smilie changed from umbrella to grin because umbrella didn't give the impression I was joking!

I thought MANY folks were having problems getting ADR's for those places? Am I wrong? :confused3

And if the time for the give away (trying to offer help) wasn't needed by you, why did you mention it? Bitter maybe? Damn......try for another time.

Nope, just being funny. Since my post can apparently be taken wrong, I've changed the smilie - thanks, Evil Queen, and sorry for the confusion!!!

May I ask a Question that sends this in a new direction?

It bugs me that Disney gives me nothing in writing when I take the time to make my ADR's 180 days out. (I have my little notes with the times, dates and ADR number, but its just in my handwriting)

If you show up at your ADR and Disney has lost it.... you have no paper-work to prove you made the ADR.

I would feel much better if I got something in writing from Disney that listed my ADR's

I know you can get this when you check-in (but it is too late to corect mistakes at that time, because all the best places to eat are booked)

Disney ask you to make ADR's and then has no way to fix problems when you call back a month before your vaction and find out that they lost your CRT ADR and there is nothing they can do.

I'm allmost tempted to make back-up ADR's now (180 days out) because Disney gives me nothing in writing and if someone with the same name or some operater accidently cancels one of my ADR's I have no recourse?
( I don't want people to start doing this, but it has crossed my mind )

I like to plan, I like to do things right. I don't like that Disney doesn't give me proof or a leg to stand on if anything goes wrong when I show up for my vaction.

Like Judge Judy say... Get it in Writing! or its not a business transaction.

If Diseny makes a mistake and cancels your ADR by accident... you are forced to pay the price for their mistake. That is not a very good system for us?

When you check in you can have the hotel desk print your ADR's for you.

I've not read every page of this thread but the first and last five or so...so if anyone else has mentioned this I apologize...
Does anyone else think that Disney knows people double book ADRs and that they take it into account when trying to determine how many people to book. They must have a good handle on the no show rate for any particular restaurant. So I'm sure they double and triple book us as well. Probably if everyone showed up all of a sudden there wouldn't be enough room for everyone!

Well, I am glad that I treat others as I want to be treated. When in doubt I wonder is this a lesson I want my child to learn? I can tell you I have enough in my day to keep me on my toes. That being inconsiderate to others intentionally never appears on my to do list! OK that being said.....
I made adrs for LeCellier and was sitting waiting there when I saw families that were hot and tired with wee little ones that just wanted a bite to eat to recharge their batteries and a comfortable seat to do that. They work as hard if not harder for their money as I do. I never know what is happening truly in antohers life. I did so however numerous no shows that it seemed prevented others from getting that well deserved table! Thoe families being turned away made me truly sad, I considered offering my own table, but it was my husband and son's birthday celebration.

SO would it make me feel good that some child's birthday dinnner is not going to be at that special because of someone else's greed or that honeymooning couple that want to go to that speical place?? If you can think of all the special reasons that families have for going to Disney and all the saving some must do for years to get there, how is it that a person can do it with such carelessness is beyond me.

For some people this very well maybe their last trip with their family for health reasons or a serviceman before departing for active duty in some horrible place. For me it has always been those little moments that I hold dear, and if that is a dinner of a family or loved ones sharing that magical time so many have lost sight of, I hope maybe just one of you can step out of your own needs and watns and care about toehrs for jsut a moment!

You see the sad part is why should Disney have to police common sense?

You are right dreamergirl, that would have been rude. Sorry

I have no doubt that we will have a magical vacation, and I hope the very same is true for you and your DS. Wishing your DH could be there with you too....next trip, right?!

See you around the boards...."Oprah" ;)

IMO.

1. I am spending thousands of dollars on vacation. The more options we have, the better our vacation will be.

And the rest of us aren't spending our own hard earned thousands of dollars to be there, RIGHT? So because of you we are supposed to eat CS because you want what you want no matter what.

Who is it hurting? ALL OF US! But what do you care you got your multi-ressies and screw the rest of us, It's your vacation after all. Boy, what an attitude! :confused3

Why not spend that time looking at the information that is out there and save yourself the embarassment when WDW cancels all of your ADRs and your poor family is left with nowhere to eat! *gasp* How would they get their proper nutrition then?

see i'm sorry but that would be PRICELESS! i wish disney would cancel all ADR's but the last one chosen on those with many multiples. Maybe i can understand multiples for families splitting up for the day, but 3-4 spread over a 2 hour time frame is pure selfish.

I had not only one of my adr's canceled because i had two, but i was told by another CM that it was a no no and he wouldnt take my adr until i canceled.

I had a conversation with a CM about how hard it is to get into the more popular places for my upcoming trip end of Sept / beg of Oct. You would think that 90 days out you could get a time (even if a late or bad one) almost everywhere....

But nope ... CM said they are having major problems with people double and triple booking ADR's who never cancel or wait until the last minute to cancel.

I think it's inconsiderate to book more than one ADR knowing you are not going to use one.

BUT

I think the way things are set up at WDW right now are feeding into this problem as IF you have to change your schedule for an unforseen reason you may not be able to eat at a TS ANYWHERE that night!!!

Let's say u planned Monday as a "EPCOT" day and Tuesday as an "rest" day ... Well on Monday it is pouring rain and Tuesday they are calling for sunny skies. So you decide to stay in on Monday and maybe go to Disney Quest instead, holding off on EPCOT until Tuesday.

Good luck getting that Le Cellair ressie for Tuesday! Not gonna happen.

IMHO Disney should "hold" some spots for walk ups and or same day reservations. Sometimes you can't decide where you want to eat 6 months in advance.

Enjoy your vacation and I will try not to enjoy my coveted ADR for LC too much. n
