Overbooking ADR's without cancelling

My son can't wait to go on Star Tours. First time rider and this is HUGE for him. Because it is "my responsibility" to put him first it is then ok to cut in line. Afterall, he deserves to have the BEST vacation possible and forget about anyone else trying to enjoy themselves right? Gotta leave my options open and put the odds in our favor too! Plus by cutting in line I can possibly squeeze in one more ride or attraction before try to rush to our one of 4 ADRs. I've got a cell phone so I can call last minute to cancel. Gosh, I think I thought of the PERFECT plan. Let's see how many people I can upset but it's all in the spirit of putting my family first, so hey, I guess that's ok.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Funny.

But don't try to cut in front of me and my deserving, well-fed family! ;) Perhaps I'd be more understanding about you cutting me if I were able to get that darn Le Cellier ADR.

Try to justify it all you want, you know all too well that this is wrong.

Were you directing this to me or the other poster?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Glad you got the sarcasim. And I am so glad your family is well fed. It's of vital importance. And thank god you are looking out for their best interests. ;) GL with that ADR, if I give mine up I expect you to hold my place in line at Star Tours!

Absolutely not towards you. I, like you, am against the idea of multiple simultaneous ADRs. This was in response to the person using this as a crutch in order to provide 'proper nutrition'. Gotta love that reasoning! :thumbsup2

Whew... thanks for clearing that up for me. I don't get half of the "reasoning" provided on these threads, but it's fun to read anyway. I get a kick out of a good healthy debate!
Have a great evening!

Oh yes it should be closed. and why should it be closed? Because, I am getting very, very, very :furious: Just wanted to say that. Ahh, I feel so much better. But really how childish is this really. Me getting mad at selfish apples. :rotfl2: Hey, there is always going to be a few bad apples in the bunch, of disers. :rotfl2:

I've practically given up on Le Cellier - perhaps if those selfish multi-reservation people would play nice I might get it! hehe :teeth: We've decided on Marrakesh instead - I think it will be an interesting change of pace from the standard steak and seafood.

And incidently, I would most definitely let you cut in line for Star Tours if you give me your LC ADR. Besides, you'd only be cutting in front of DH ;) ....I don't like Star Tours (can't do those simulation rides), & DKids are too young.

Some, bd and others, have not yet come to learn that it IS possible to both meet your family's needs as well as be respectful of others in the world.

Just wish folks would stop using the $ they are spending and the poor KIDS as a thin disguise for what is lack of civility and definitely smacks of a narcissistic bent, as another poster observed.
If the exact location of a restaurant makes or breaks your "perfect" vacation, we have more problems here than rudeness.

Wa, was, wa.

Stop the complaining, and focus your efforts and energies on more beneficial and productive things.

Saw it? Heck, I experienced it - and not even at a particularly busy time! Surrounding Labor Day (yeah, I know, not extremely unbusy :)) I could NOT get a PS for Le Cellier or Cinderella's Royal Table (for dinner, yet!) in advance, could not get a PS while I was there either by phone or with the assistance of Lobby Concierge, could not get a PS over the next few days by presenting myself at the respective podiums, could not get walk-up seating... This year, no problem. CRT's menu change means I'm no longer interested, and I've had an ADR for Le Cellier since April...

Well, why waste valuable cell phone minutes? Why not just tell the Host/ess where you DO end up eating to cancel all your other ADRs? Or, call those restaurants later from your resort room and tell them, "Yeah, thanks, we decided to eat someplace better; you can cancel our several-hours-overdue reservation now..."

"Instant Karma's gonna get you . . . "
And if not instant Karma, then maybe Earl Hickey? Or am I not allowed to refer to an NBC show on a Disney message board? ;)

Just for the record, and I KNOW you're not talking about me :) - while I did temporarily have more than one ADR for a couple of nights of my vacation, I had only ONE for Le Cellier and NO other ADRs for that entire day!

They very well may turn away walk-ins, most restaurants do when they are extremely busy....but an ADR does not hold a particular table for any of Disney guests...It holds a spot for you in line above the walkins and other later ADRs. That's why even with an ADR you still have to wait up to 30 minutes for a table..... I'm not saying that it makes it any less annoying to some on this board but people who make multiple ADR's absolutely block others from making ADR's at a particular time but they do not hold up empty tables.

May I ask a Question that sends this in a new direction?

It bugs me that Disney gives me nothing in writing when I take the time to make my ADR's 180 days out. (I have my little notes with the times, dates and ADR number, but its just in my handwriting)

If you show up at your ADR and Disney has lost it.... you have no paper-work to prove you made the ADR.

I would feel much better if I got something in writing from Disney that listed my ADR's

I know you can get this when you check-in (but it is too late to corect mistakes at that time, because all the best places to eat are booked)

Disney ask you to make ADR's and then has no way to fix problems when you call back a month before your vaction and find out that they lost your CRT ADR and there is nothing they can do.

I'm allmost tempted to make back-up ADR's now (180 days out) because Disney gives me nothing in writing and if someone with the same name or some operater accidently cancels one of my ADR's I have no recourse?
( I don't want people to start doing this, but it has crossed my mind )

I like to plan, I like to do things right. I don't like that Disney doesn't give me proof or a leg to stand on if anything goes wrong when I show up for my vaction.

Like Judge Judy say... Get it in Writing! or its not a business transaction.

If Diseny makes a mistake and cancels your ADR by accident... you are forced to pay the price for their mistake. That is not a very good system for us?

I like the idea of having it in writing and before you get to your resort. But knowing so many folks change their ADR's so many times, I can understand why they don't. Could you imagine the paperwork that would have to be mailed?

It would be nice if on their website you could pull up any ADR's made to your room reservation number and print those out.

A whole different thing....but....one of the nice things about concierge is that I make all my adr's through them and they send me an e-mail with ALL the adr information - time, place, confirmation #, etc. There is also a list waiting for us when we get to our room. So Disney DOES have the ability to send the list, but for now it seems to be just a concierge benefit.

Jill...who made all her adr's for august weeks ago.. :)

YAY!! I FINALLY GOT 'OHANA~

We got 2 tables of 3 (there are 6 of us) for 5:40.

Thanks, whoever let their ADR go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I cancelled my Sci-Fi for 8/16 at 5:10pm for table of 6, if anyone wants to jump on it, lol.

I was waiting for a response like this from you. Usually people who are in the wrong are the first to try to turn it around to the other person.
I am sure you are VERY busy and "productive" making all of those phone calls for ADRs. Why not spend that time looking at the information that is out there and save yourself the embarassment when WDW cancels all of your ADRs and your poor family is left with nowhere to eat! *gasp* How would they get their proper nutrition then?

I have confirmation numbers for all of my ADRs. Is this different than what you are talking about? I sure hope none of mine get canceled, but then again I will just have to suck it up and go with the flow! :)

Also known as, 'There is no compelling argument that I can make that makes me seem like I'm less selfish and self-involved.. so, I'll insult you for being annoyed with my behavior.' It's second only to the aforementioned, 'You're not perfect, so how DARE YOU say anything about me being willfully selfish' argument.. At some point, someone who's for making multiple ADRs needs to come up with an ACTUAL reason for why this behavior isn't selfish and self-important or admit that it IS.

Also, defending the behavior here is no more "beneficial and productive" than us complaining about it.

I'm sorry-I wasn't clear, not unusal for me.... :rotfl: I wrote them down, but nothing will come from Disney stating that THEY have them, until I check in.

So I will have no proof that I did/didn't cancel them, which ever the case may be. That's why I wish there was somehow you could look them up on their website. I understand the logic why we can't book over the site, but I would think they could make it so you could look up your ADR's.

Also, could let everyone see that everything is still in order and nothing has been accidently canceled.

I hope this thread gets locked soon...

I have learned a long time ago, that I can only be responsible for myself..and my family. I certainly don't have the time or inclination to try & control the actions of anyone else going to WDW. Until Disney has a policy in place...why worry about it and expel this kind of hostility?...if you think it's ethically wrong...don't do it, feel good about yourself...and move on.
