over thinking money

I also do things like sell old toys and clothes on craigslist. I let the girls keep that money for Disney. That way we get rid of stuff and they have their own money to learn how to budget.

Edited b/c I thought I sounded like an advertisement.

wow cool thanks ill check in to it.
an my hubby says only if it will save us a big chunk will we switch he still wants our minnies story tellers an such so well if its not saving us anything he wont want it.

lol he tells me just plan an say thats it dont look for cheaper prices lol

I would NOT do the meal plan if you are looking to cut corners money-wise. If you do not use all the money, you don't get change back. Why not just allocate money for food and then spend accordingly? You can save money that way because someone may not be hungry for a full meal every time you eat, as well as the option of staying somewhere with free breakfast, as you mentioned.

Thanks Patty for posting this. :) I have been getting rewards in the mail to apply for a disney credit card. I was offered the same thing $150 first time use. Too good to pass up. Plus we don't have a credit card and you never know when an emergency will happen.

Remember the monetary reward is only $1.00 Per $100.00 put on card. So for $10.00 gift card you would need to charge 1k. My suggestion is not get CC if only for the rewards. (Unless offered the $150.00 after first use-like we got).

well i dont know how much it would save not to get the meal plan.

I am going back an forth about it tho.

even if we didnt get the meal plan we would want
minnies storytellers ariels for sure.
BB we like an my hubby was sick last time so didnt get to enjoy it an wants to try it again
I dont know yet tho were checking back an forth money wise.

thanks all we have talked an checked prices an if wecould have got better price we might have changed things but to me breakfast isnt worth another 40 a night when we could do charcter breakfast an stuff.
An the walk to park from hojos isnt that bad at all.

Thanks for letting me rant an talk to you all

JadeDarkstar, have you done the meal plan before? We've decided to try it this time, we've never done it, and I've heard mixed things. One idea was to buy Disney gift cards instead, and use that for food. We love the idea of having the food paid for prior to leaving for our vacation. We are a family of 6, and on our last trip, we found the majority of our money was spent on food!We even went to the grocery store the day we got there and stocked up on food and drinks. We like to be in the parks all day, and we found it difficult to leave to find a cheaper meal everytime we wanted to eat. We spend ALOT of $$ on food and drinks for the week that we were there. We are booking on the disney website, so we are adding the meal plan.We aren't travelling until October, so we are putting down a deposit, then paying monthly until the trip is paid off (it has to be paid off by August 31st), which gives us plenty of time to pay it all off. I'm looking forward to having the entire trip, including food, paid for a month before we actually leave, so all we need to worry about is spending money when we do go:-) Just wondering if anyone has actually done the meal plan before..I'm curious to know what their experience was like!

yes ive done it three times I am the one who tells ppl its good an to do it every one else says its not. I love it my hubby loves it we plan our meals out down to the last cent of what we want before we get there. the only meal we do out side the park is rain forest cafe because I love that place.

I see it as if im already going to at least 3 charcter meals an bb its worth it
the snack vouchers pay for 2 of my fav snacks
an then popcorn an a few drinks.

i pay for most everything before we go an this time im getting disney gift card for each of us an a visa card not spending any from my bank this time because last time i got overdrafted tho it wasnt my fault an the banks were jerks any ways yes to save that from happening we are doing the pre paid cards.

Jade have you looked into pre purchasing character meals through getawaytoday? They are usually a little cheaper and it's stil prepaid that way.

We do gift cards and disney dollars each trip too. The only thing that usually comes out of my bank account is the hotel but I'm looking at prepayng that this year as well.

We just used what was left on our Rainforest GC a week or so ago. I'll probably pick up another before we go just in case we opt to eat there. We do have a few meals that we don't have planned.

we have getaway today is where i looked at prices to save but seeing we will go to bb any ways an the cel round up an snakes see it jsut equils the same thing.
same amount nothing saved everything paid for over the year.

How do I go about getting my $150 card. Can someone tell me what they had to do/call. I can't find it online. I have already used my credit card.
