Over the river and through the FUN!

Great parade pics MeMom!!!

I just re-read about you having the Holiday Sandwich at EOS... Mum and I had one each (I wanted to share but she wouldn't and guess what, she ended up leaving 1/3!) but must say I didn't enjoy it. BUT, I was still going through the "ick at most foods" pregnancy phase and still suffering morning sickness (which I still am today by the way!!! ) and I really didn't like mine I ended up going back for the tomato soup which was YUMMY!

On our 2nd visit there, she had another Holiday Sandwich and I had a plain turkey and swiss sandwich - boring but yummy! and more tomato soup!

xxx

That's why it's nice that they have so many choices! John also liked the holiday sandwich, but Jill just got the turkey and bacon, which is yummy, too. I have never had an Earl's sandwich I didn't like, although the sauce on the Hawaiian BBQ was not my favorite. Jill loves the potato soup there.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling sick. All the 'ickiness' of pregnancy will be worth it in the end, so you just have to hang in there!

I am with you on that one! I have never ridden that ride! I am not a fan of being in enclosed spaces! I used to go caving which I could not do now!! We used to go to Cumberland Caverns and I could crawl through those holes like a champ.....NOT ANYMORE!!!! So, I know I couldn't ride Mission: Space being closed up!! No way!!!

I went to Cumberland Caverns as a kid a couple of times, and I remember not liking it, but I did it with whatever group I was with. Now, there's no way. My co-teachers know that if we ever plan a field trip to go up there, they will be watching my class while I wait at the entrance!

The first time Drew rode Mission:Space, he informed me I would not be able to do it, and then later I saw it on TV or video or something. I don't even think about it now. I just enjoy browsing the gift shop while waiting for others.

Here, too! It's 19 right now, and on Friday, the high is supposed to be 13. I am SO looking forward to Florida weather.

Have a great day--you're halfway through the week; it's almost Friday!

Your trip is almost here! This next little bit should fly by!

Two days left, and my high from seeing Jill and Brooklynn should carry me through that.

It is a high of 15 here today in Ohio but they think its not going to get that warm. Tommorow is even cooler I think 8 maybe. My college roommate is getting married in Cleveland this sat and I think she picked the coldest day of the year to get married. Luckily my brother is keeping Caleb for us so we do not have to drag him in and out of the weather. He can stay put all weekend until we come to pick him up on Sunday.

Oh and we have propane and I pre-pay it so it will be cheaper. Not really sure if it is much cheaper or not...but it is really nice not to have to deal with the monthly winter bills. So that is a plus for me.

Have fun at the wedding. I'm glad you don't have to get Caleb out in the cold, and it will be nice for you to just have some free time to do a fun thing, too. Stay warm!!!

Ok, two things.

1. You made my cry with the Disney sentiment and your story about being robbed.

2. Our windchill temp for tomorrow morning it supposed to be around negative 50. Yes people, be very jealous! LOL! Gotta love Minnesota winters.

I LOVE the parade pictures!!! Great job MeMom. I just want to hug you sometimes!

I'm just a big old sap. I tear up at the littlest things. I am not a boo-hoo cryer, but I get tears in my eyes often - at TV shows, commercials, announcements of sickness or deaths at church or school - just lots of things. It doesn't take much to pull on my heartstrings.

I cannot imagine being in the cold you guys live in. I guess you just get used to it. I think we live in a great place as far as weather goes. We have four distinct seasons, none too extreme.

Glad you enjoyed the parade pictures. Give that hug to all your precious kids and I will feel it from here. I promise I will!

Oh, I wasn't a fan of Mission Space either. I took the "easy" side and still got motion sickness. Yuck. I also have the same 2009 calendar!

At least you were brave enough to try it. I think I would be able to handle the ride itself, because I don't get motion sickness, but it's just the closed in part I can't do. I would just die of preconceived imaginary suffocation! :rotfl:

Great parade pictures I love the one of Mary Poppins <3

Im heading to disney again next weekend this time with my DAD. He really needs a break from his life right now, and how could I resist these passholder discounts?? I haven't seen him smiling like he's been smiling in a very long time! I'm pretty sure in the middle of february when the cruise is paid off, I will be starting a pre-trip report for the huge trip we have planned in May. I will do mini-reports of my moms trip and my dads so i hope to see you there!

Of course, I 'thunk' of you when I took the Mary Poppins picture!

I saw that you and your dad were going, but you hadn't said anything about writing a report. I wouldn't miss a trip report with you, are you kidding? You are such a good daughter for going with your dad! I know why he's been smiling, believe me!

MeMom your parade pictures are fabulous!! I think you must have been a photographer in another life! :) You made me feel like I was there again! I could hear the music and taste the popcorn - delish!

I'd be happy to be a photographer in this life! That is what I hope to capture when I am taking the pictures. I want the viewers/readers to be able to put themselves right in that spot and feel, hear, taste, smell, and see everything as close as they can get to being there for real.

MeMom, just wanted to let you know I am still here. Eeyeore is my moms favorite too and you remind me of my mom so much. We are having cold weather too here in Omaha. Our high today I think is like 5 plus we have wind chills of like -40 very cold. Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.

I'm glad you are still coming out to play with us, even if you don't talk much.

I love Eeyore because he's just so humble, I think. He just needs so much loving. I just think his little face is cute.

Of course, I love just about every Disney character. My students get the biggest kick out of the fact that I watch Disney movies. They just smile and laugh, and then I smile and laugh at them right back!

I ended up having a wonderful Wednesday. You're psychic!!!

what a great compliment that is from you! thanks. i totally agree. he not only affected all of our lives through the great trips and memories we've had there and the great movies that he's made and the friends we've made through our common interest in him and his creations, but think about how he's affected the world around us. the theme park and family entertainment industry would not be anything like it is without disney world!

by the way, you may have commented on this and i've forgotten, but i just wanted to make sure you'd seen it:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29645917&postcount=394

I did see that, but I didn't comment. I think it's a great poster, and if he was truly a man who wanted to give people a happy place to spend time with family and friends, I think he has more than succeeded!

Super exciting news! I get the internet on Saturday. You guys will be my first stop when I log on for the first time.

Yay for the internet!!!

More yays!!!

Ok let me start by saying I asked my BF to name the 7 dwarfs...the first one he came up with was "Moody" so I stopped him there :rotfl:

I love those parade pictures, you guys had a really good spot!

Good luck with the cold temperatures down there for the next couple of days, its supposed to be 9 degrees here on Friday but actually much lower with the windchill. My BF is a field service guy for a cable company and I'm nervous hes going to be outside too much Friday. You guys don't typically get weather this cold down there, do you?

Jill, congrats on the internet for Saturday!

Moody - that's hilarious! If you look at Wikipedia under Snow White, you'll see lots of other names that were considered. You might be interested in seeing some of them.

Oh yeah, I would hate to have an outside job at this time of year! I'd love it in the spring, though!

Yea Jill!!! Can't wait to get to hear from you more often around here :cool1:

Just wanted to add to the weather conversation...all the schools here in central Iowa are already cancelling for tomorrow. Not because of the 8 inches of snow we have gotten in the last 3 days but because of the temp. Actual air temp right now is -10 and it's not supposed to warm up much tomorrow. Like my neighbors in MN and NE, wind chills expected to be -30's and -40's :scared1:

Good. Everyone can stay inside and be warm and spend time together. It is dangerous to be outside in ther bitter cold. I feel sorry for our kids that have to wait at the bus stops when it's freezing, and we don't even touch what you guys get up there!

Yea!!!!!!!!!! That is exciting news!!!!!! :goodvibes

Even more yays from me!!! She needs this for her sanity.

Hurray!!! :goodvibes

I am all weepy tonight, MeMom, and Jill's super sweet gesture made me all teary-eyed!!! What a wonderful daughter you have!

She is a great daughter. She is and has always been a very thoughful girl. She always doing nice things for other people.

A testament to what a parent and friend you are to her! So sweet... I can only hope to raise such considerate kids!

I don't think it has much to do with me. I think God blessed me with one of his best treasures!

Your kids will grow up to be awesome, incredible, wonderful, fantabulous adults! Mark my words!

And I hope we're all still hanging around here (the DIS) to see them grow up!

I'm so jealous that Jill lives close enough to just pop in. I'm close to my mom but live 13 hours away. It's great that Brooklyn can grow up by her grandma. What a sweet daughter to pick up on your emotions and to take care of you!!!

Jill is two hours away, which is not bad. It's not great, but it's not 13 hours. I'd have to move if it was 13 hours! I know the times you are able to be together are so special and treasured!

I know, I am really upset we never got to go to Opryland! My inlaws used to go up there and go to the Grand Ol Opry and I would have loved to have been there. I love clean, family friendly parks and Six Flags is definately not that!!! The closest thing to Magic Kingdom to me is Dollywood! Everyone was so nice when we went there. Plus, it was super clean!!!

Whoa, turn me loose in that mall!!!!!

Opryland was better than a Six Flags, in my opinion. It had lots of shows, too, which we enjoyed.

If you ever come to Nashville, we'll meet you at the mall!

I think that our high today was about 8....tomorrow is supposed to be in the 2-5 range....or at least thats what it was supposed to be when I last saw the weather!

Just one thought comes to mind - brrrrrrr!

I'm sorry you had such a frustrating day. I don't know how they expect you teachers to do all that they demand. I just want to thank you for what you do. I homeschooled my oldest for two years before I realized he and I were not cut out to work together. ;) I am so thankful that there are teachers out there to teach my children what they need to know. It is such an under appreciated profession.

What a sweet thing for Jill to do to cheer you up. She sounds like a wonderful daughter (and I can't wait to get to know her more once her internet is up and running! :goodvibes ).

I'm reminded more and more these days that our families really are the most important part of our lives and that no matter what happens to us - they're always there for us. :grouphug:

I think if every parent spent one week in a school, all day every day, they would have a better understanding of what really goes on and how draining it is.
I think if every administrator and board member and all the higher-ups spent one week in the classroom, they'd make their goals and demands more realistic. I doubt either of those will ever happen, though.

We cannot make up for deficits in the home, and we cannot work miracles. We can only teach and nurture to some degree. They are trying to squeeze things out of us that we don't have in us, and it's just a frustrating no-win situation. We have lost so many good, good teachers in the last five years because of the stress. They are doing more damage than good, and they can't even see the obvious.

I didn't have a close family growing up, and we don't stay in contact as adults. I knew I wanted my own family to be real and to be close. They are everything to me, and I thank God every single day for giving me such great gifts!

That is so sweet of Jill and Brooklynn! I bet it was a wonderful way to end the day!

No better way I can think of!

What a lovely daughter you have MeMom! (;) Jill!) What a nice way to be cheered up!
I can't believe how badly teachers are treated. I mean, you help shape the future. You should be treated like kings and queens! It's amazing what you do and you should be thanked each and every day! :) I'm sorry you're underappreciated. My future children would be lucky to have you as a teacher and I'm sure your students love you! :)

All most of us want is a little respect and some support. For the most part, we try our best, but the demands of NCLB along with the deficits of kids in a poverty-stricken school are just a lot sometimes.

Many teachers probably do not feel the stresses we do at our school. Our school is a high poverty school, for starters. Then our old principal opted for a Reading First grant, which meant we got a lot of stuff, but also a ton of requirements put on us for several years.

awww.....this is SO SWEET!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes how nice of her to make your day like that! isn't that just so sweet when the people that love us do whatever it takes to make us smile?

Yep. She's the best daughter I've got!

Aw that's so nice of them!

You know I love that mall!

It's amazing how much the little ones can make your day that much better. One smile from my little guy and it melts my heart.

I hope maybe we can meet you at that mall sometime when you are driving through!

Yeah, those little ones can be little angels and little demons all wrapped up in one. Especially when they are going through the terrible twos!

So I am reading Baby and the Tramp.... so I can figure out what Luke will be like this summer! We are headed to WDW and I thought Brooklynn would have been about his age that trip... it gives me a lot to look forward too!

Have a great Thursday.... it is super cold here so I know there will be no outside recess for the kids to burn their energy at!

I hope you are enjoying Baby and the Tramp. We had a great time with Brooklynn, and you will have a great time, too!

Nope. No outside play!

Thanks.
If you can keep a secret, our place is in contract and deposit goes in Friday. he still needs to be approved by the board but hoping it all goes well.
We put a bid last night on a place and it was accepted. Now those contracts need to filled out this weekend. It was more than what we wanted to pay and $10,000 over the limit I was told for a DVC but I was told that we are definitely getting one. :woohoo: I did my happy dance all around.
I like the parades, just everyone I go with does not. :sad2:

How nice of Jill to bring Brooklynn up to see you. That was so sweet. Glad it made your day better.

Congratulations on the closing. I know this has been a long time coming. Comgratulations on the DVC purchase, too. You are very lucky!

You think if I call Jill and act depressed again today she'll come back??? ;)

I was going to say the same thing! My mom is only six hours away, but that still means no dropping in. And she has been teaching and working in the education field for decades, so I know she has rough days like that too :worried: It was so sweet of Jill amd Brooklynn to surprise you! :goodvibes

I somehow missed you on the previous post. Sorry.

Six hours is at least not 13, so I guess we can be happy for that. It would thrill your mother for you to make a surprise vist sometime! One day when you have a couple of days off you should do that. She would love it!

Since your mom has been in the trenches, you've probably heard some of my comments from her before. It really has only gotten so bad in the past 4-5 years, and once it got bad, it got worse fast!

Is your mom close to retiring? I hope I live to see retirement!

I have to share with all of you how sweet my daughter is to me. This is her day off. She called me on my planning time, but I was in a meeting. Teachers have lots of meetings. It was another one of those where they send in a representative from some high authority to critique your school and give you about a dozen new things to implement into your already overly-packed day. Two of the newer teachers left just overwhelmed, one left with tears in her eyes, and those who have been around for a while just left knowing it would do no good to say a word about anything.

Anyway, I talked to Jill at lunch break, and I was venting to her all my frustrations. She was headed home from doing errands to put Brooklynn down for a nap. I went and got my kids from lunch, finished the rest of my school day, and right at the end of the day, I was shocked beyond belief to see Jill and Brooklynn standing at my classroom door! She said I sounded like I needed a pick-me-up, and a visit from them was the perfect one! I couldn't have been more excited! That was totally unexpected. Totally unexpected and much, much, much appreciated!

We made the rounds to see a few of my teacher friends and then went over to Opry Mills to the Disney Store. Jill wanted to get gifts for friends who are going at the end of the month. They have three girls, and she is fixing goodie bags for them. She got them matching t-shirts and some Disney dollars to go with the stickers, etc. she has already gotten them. These are the people who dogsit Ben whenever we take our long trips.

Then we picked up Sonic and came back to the house. I can't tell you how nice it was to have Brooklynn sitting up in her booster sit at the table tonight! I was down in the dumps, but the thoughfulness of my sweet daughter and getting to spend time with her and play with Brooklynn for a few hours has just made my whole week better!

I know this may sound so trivial to some of you, but I just wanted to share my joy with you guys and brag on my girl and how good she is to me. There are some days I just love being a mom, and this is sure one of them!

How amazingly sweet. It brought tears to my eyes. Jill that was a wonderful thing to do for your mom.

That is soooo sweet that Jill and Brooklynn surprised you!

Your trip is almost here! This next little bit should fly by!

I know!!! It's going to fly by even more when I start back to school in a week. :hyper: I already put in for the time off from work, and I need to call the vet's office where I board the dog to get that set up. The little things like that make it seem so much closer and real. I need to take pictures of the ME tags and stuff, still, but I still don't have my camera cord. I'm guessing that my dad put it somewhere when he was cleaning, because it's definitely not in my room, since I cleaned it a couple of days ago and didn't find anything. I need to take my ME tag pictures!!

Congratulations on the closing. I know this has been a long time coming. Comgratulations on the DVC purchase, too. You are very lucky!

You think if I call Jill and act depressed again today she'll come back??? ;)
Thanks. Still going through, very slow process. I hate it.
I will believe it when we are actually done with everything and the DVC is done too. Could be 2 more months.

I would not push it. :lmao:

How amazingly sweet. It brought tears to my eyes. Jill that was a wonderful thing to do for your mom.

It brought tears to my eyes, too, when I saw them! I bet I kissed Brooklynn a hundred times in ten minutes.

That is soooo sweet that Jill and Brooklynn surprised you!

Thanks. Still going through, very slow process. I hate it.

I would not push it. :lmao:

I know. I never believe anything, either, until I see it really happen.

You people up north must have outrageous heating bills! I hate that for you.

Thanks MeMom. :goodvibes I don't even want to know what our bills is going to be with this -20 degreen weather. It'll be a doooooooozy!

Super exciting news! I get the internet on Saturday. You guys will be my first stop when I log on for the first time.

YEA! Congrats Jill!

and right at the end of the day, I was shocked beyond belief to see Jill and Brooklynn standing at my classroom door!

That is SO SWEET! I'm glad she was able to give you the much needed pick-me-up. And what a lovely evening it sounded like the three of you had. :goodvibes

I can deal with the regular tour at Cumberland Caverns, but not the wild one anymore! We had talked at church about taking our Sunday School classes there and I told them that would be fun! BUT NO WILD TOUR!!!!

I told Chad he can ride Mission:Space when we go back and I will very happily just shop...and shop.....and shop!!!:)

We really like shows! That is one reason we just go to Six Flags around Halloween. To watch the shows!

OOooooh, that would be nice! I have only been to Nashville one time. There was a family friends daughter who got married to a nice fellow from Nashville. So, we went and stayed with my Aunt Elaine (the one that was Jerry Reed's Mother-in-law) She was old and set in her ways! She told us we must be back in by 8:45 because nothing good happens in Nashville after dark!:rotfl2:

It was a beautiful wedding!!! We visited Hard Rock Cafe and then Aunt Elaine took us to...........some huge cemetary where her husband was buried. I wish my mother had took a picture of my face as she took us into the mausoleum! It was priceless....

I would love that!

Just give us a heads up when you are coming through. Maybe Erica and Dawn and any other Nashville girls might want to come, too!

And maybe some Nashville guys?

Thanks MeMom. :goodvibes I don't even want to know what our bills is going to be with this -20 degreen weather. It'll be a doooooooozy!

YEA! Congrats Jill!

I got lucky twice this week. They ended up cancelling school on Friday due to the low temperatures, so I just went from school yesterday on down to AL to spend the night with Jill and Brooklynn. John has been in California for a few days for work, so I camped out on her couch last night and stayed with Brooklynn today while Jill went to work. She came and picked her up at lunchtime so I could come on back home. My trip was unexpected at the announcement of the extra day off, so I had no clothes, make-up, hair stuff, or anything, plus I wanted to beat Friday afternoon Nashville traffic home. So, we got to spend lots of extra time together this week, and it was very nice.

It's been so many years ago since I've been that I don't even know if there was any such thing as a Wild Tour. I remember walking way down in the cave and hearing them talk about tight squeezes in some places. Those things stick out in my mind big time. I guess as a kid I didn't feel like I had a right to say I didn't want to go down there, so I did.

I like the shows, too. I think that will be a bigger part of what my friend, Kay, and I do when we go in March. The younger people in my family don't care so much about stopping to see the movies or hear Voices of Liberty and things like that, but I think since Kay is my age, she'll enjoy those things. We might see several of the musical performers at Epcot and some of the Davy Jones concert, if not all of it. I love the Candlelight Processional, and I would really enjoy it if they had more group/singing shows like that all throughout the year.

I've always told my boys nothing good ever happens after midnight. 8:45 could be a little early! :rotfl: She could be right, though! I've seen some crazy looking people in Nashville. I rarely go into downtown Nashville for anything, anyway.

If you ever come to visit us in Nashville, I promise to NOT take you to see anyone's grave!

**********************************

I hope everyone has had a good Friday. I'll be back later to catch up on all of your reports. I just got in and thought I'd see what was going on around here real quick.

With the parade finished, it was time for us to liberate our appetites.

IMG_0526.jpg

As he usually does, Trent tried to aggravate Brooklynn.
This time, it was by putting her into the stew pot.

IMG_0527.jpg

That got her all stirred up!

Oh yeah, I did say that.
Am I pathetic, or what?

Liberty Tree lights and decor.

IMG_0528.jpg

IMG_0529.jpg

As we waited for food, we had a visitor.

IMG_0533.jpg

IMG_0534.jpg

And another visitor.

IMG_0538.jpg

And while we were still having salad, another visitor.

IMG_0540.jpg

Then we got mass quantities of the good stuff!

IMG_0541.jpg

I've read you can buy these mugs, but we forgot to ask about them.

IMG_0542.jpg

More company.

IMG_0544.jpg

Chip was in search of a dance partner.

IMG_0545.jpg

I'm so glad we got to see Minnie in her colonial dress, since the characters are no longer there.

IMG_0546.jpg

IMG_0547.jpg

IMG_0551.jpg

I couldn't decide which of these pictures to leave out, so I put them all in.

IMG_0552.jpg

Then Minnie flirted with the menfolk.

IMG_0554.jpg

Trent had the scruffy look going, and he has on his very unclean Florida hat. He looks like 'bum goes to dinner' there.

Another light fixture.

IMG_0556.jpg

Characters started making the rounds again, even though we really hadn't been in there that long.

IMG_0559.jpg

We figured they were different people inside this time around, since we saw some repeats.

IMG_0560.jpg

Brooklynn was a little puzzled about why we were seeing the same characters again.

IMG_0562.jpg

We forgot they had dessert with the meal. Jill, Trent, and Jarvis had all left the table to go to the restroom when they brought the apple cobbler and ice cream, so John, Brooklynn, and I ate a little of it. It was very good!

Next up:

IMG_0563.jpg

What a fun update! I too found the character interaction at LTT to be some of the best...what a shame they decided to stop it. It was a pretty good meal too! And you know, I think if you look up cute in the dictionary, you'll see Brookyln's pictures right underneath! :) It's nice to see your family having a nice time together! Thanks for sharing!

I hope everyone has had a good Friday. I'll be back later to catch up on all of your reports. I just got in and thought I'd see what was going on around here real quick.

Oh my gosh, Davy Jones is going to be there when you go!!! I used to love to watch The Monkee's!!

Thank you, I really don't think I could stand to go to that cemetary again!!!! :lmao:

Looks like you had a fun and yummy meal! The characters look neat all dressed up. I'm glad we had a change to eat there in 2003.

That looks SO yummy--I could definitely go for some of that roast beef and green beans right now. I'm so sad that it's not a character meal anymore; I would have liked to get my mom to add it as an ADR, but we mostly liked going for the characters.

I cracked up at your comment about Trent, even though I think he looks fine. :rotfl:

Hey Memom, Let me introduce myself. I live next door in Arkansas, about 45
minutes from Memphis. I have been lurking around the trip report boards for
a couple of years and always look foward to reading about your trips.
I just want you to know how much I enjoy reading about your trips and your
photos are wonderful. I will be welcoming my first grandchild in April and can't
wait until I can share a trip to Disney with him.
This is my family

Sorry, the photo is so small, I'm not very handy with photobucket.

MeMom.....I had a dream about you and Jill and Brooklyn..It was us meeting up outside of Rainforest Cafe.:rotfl:
