Over the river and through the FUN!

this is my favorite tombstone! i just love good ole fred.

awesome picture!

hmmmm.....i wonder who that could be???

i say columbia harbor house! i've never been there but you guys are in the area, so that's my guess.

Are you the one who said you had a boss named Fred? Someone took a picture of that for a boss named Fred.

So you've got like a park map etched in your head, huh, oh Disney wise one?!?!?
So just for ha-ha's, if we were to be coming out of Small World, where might we eat?
Or if we were needing a little pick me up after getting off the TTA, where could we turn for sustenance?

You've never been to Harbour House? You should give it a try. You get a massive basket of chicken, fish and fries or apples for a decent price.

Awesome shadows on the tombstones!!!

All of the castle ornaments and decorations are great!

You'll appreciate this story, MeMom. I had test administration training this morning (on tests I have given for ten years) at the Central Office. Well, our test administrator had the castle with the Christmas lights as his desktop background. He then spent the first ten minutes of the training going on and on about visiting Disney World at Christmastime and all the things people can do there. I just sat there smiling to myself as I sipped my morning coffee out of my refillable mug.

Unfortunately the rest of the training was not nearly as enthralling. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Could you tell if the instructor was a diehard Disney person or a new recruit? Which refillable mug did you have - the YOAMD one from this year? Did he notice? Did you talk Disney?

I had a trainer notice my Disney purse at a workshop once, and she started talking about it. She and her husband go every year with their kids and ten grandkids. It was fun to speak Disney words instead of individualized instruction and running records and such.

I love your Haunted Mansion pictures! The dining room one came out awesome. That's one of my all-time favorite rides. I love riding it with my parents in one car, b/c my mom found out exactly how to scare my dad on it--she eyes the guys that pop up from behind the gravestones and grabs my dad's arm just when they pop up, and my dad flips out. It even works ten seconds later! I wish I knew how to get that one part on to YouTube, but my dad might kill me. Thank goodness he doesn't read these boards! :rotfl:

I adore that cart outside of HM because I love the Nightmare Before Christmas. That black shirt in the picture might be the one that I really wanted to buy last year, but I couldn't find my size. My boyfriend's little sister gave me an awesome NBC shirt for Christmas, but I will have to keep an eye out for that one.

I think that is the best ballroom picture I've ever gotten, and that was pure luck. I just snap away in the place, but they hardly ever come out. I'm aiming for a good 'ghost in the cart' picture someday, but have had no luck so far.

I've never seen Nightmare Before Christmas in its entirety. I need to do that someday. I like some of the music.

Hi MeMom

I've been AWOL again... we had problems with our internet access over Christmas etc. so I didn't come online too much.

Hope you all had a great time!

Back to work now, and back to my regular early morning reads!

Julie xxx

A day without internet is a day without Dising,
and a day without Dising is no fun!
It's good to have you back, even if it took going back to work to get it.

Thanks for the update! :goodvibes Loved the pictures, can't wait to see where you had lunch:)

I hope Jill's test goes good for her. Let us know how it goes.

Just ask Dawn. She knows everything!!! :rotfl:

Hopefully, all results will be perfect.

warning to anyone in alabama that is hungry today: GET OUT OF THE PREGNANT WOMAN'S WAY!!!!!

seriously, hope everything turns out good! :goodvibes

Yeah, I wouldn't have wanted to be the person in front of her who was having a hard time making up my mind about what I wanted!

Great HM pics! I didn't think much of that ride the first time I rode it, but it became one of my faves on my last trip and I love it now! It was especially fun riding it at MNSSHP.

That castle merchandise is so beautiful! I would love to own all of it. Particularly the stockings and matching tree skirt. Unfortunately, almost all of my Christmas decor is red, white and silver, so it wouldn't match. I'm afraid if it added blue stuff it would look like the wrong holiday. :rotfl: It is pretty though.

Hope everything goes well for Jill today. And hopefully she will get some YUMMY food after her tests are over!

You just need to have lots of different trees to solve your problem. You can have a castle one and a princess one and a Fab Five one and a Winnie-the-Pooh one. Then you'd have lots of reasons to shop, shop, shop!

good luck to Jill. I hope your GD test comes out normal. My one hour one was a little higher than normal so they made me come back for the 3 hr one. That was stressful but luckily everything came out ok...no Gestational diabetes for me. Though I was warned ahead of time to bring somethign with me to eat after the 3 hour because of fasting that long and having blood drawn 4 times will make you weasy...I was fine afterwards but I heard if you are sick after the 4th time...then you probably have GD.

As for haunted mansion. I lvoe that ride. I still remember the first time I rode it with my dad on my first trip in 1991. The ghosts in the vehicle was a suprise to me and I thought it was funny that a ghost was riding with us. I wasn't scared but then again I was 10.

That ride is so fascinating that it's hard to imagine being scared of it, but I know some people are.

Thinking of Jill!!!
I have to have a glucose test too - in 4 weeks. But they have changed it recently in my area and I only need to go in for one blood test after drinking a VERY sweet and yucky syrup drink!!!
I'm also anemic (sp?) and on iron tablets so really sympathise with Jill!!!

Love Julie xxx

Just hope you never have to have a full body CAT scan. I had to do that with my big surgery, and I had to drink 4 very large glasses of stuff that tasted like a milk of magnesia and warm banana shake mixed together. It was so gross, and it took me forever to gag my way through it. They brought out four glasses on a tray, which I thought were for me and three other patients in the room. Nope - they were all for me! Gag, gag, and more gag! Never again!

Will they give you the drink before your test. Like a couple days before?? Mine did and I kept it in my fridge so it was cold when I drank it. I was expecting the worst but it ended up tasting like an sunkist (orange drink pop) though don;t know what they have where you are. I have heard there is also a lime one that kind of tastes like a sprite/7-up too but I did not get that one.

The people who make that need to talk to the people who make the banana milk of magnesia stuff and see of they can give them some pointers!

So glad that Jill survived the fast! KFC sounds soooo yummy!

Glad Jill survived the fast and I hope her tests come out well!

Jill,
I bet you were so hungry, that was probably the best KFC you have ever eaten.

She made it through, and we thank you all for the good thoughts. I just talked to her a few minutes ago, and she was ordering a BBQ sandwich for lunch today, so life is good again.

I'll catch up with more responses later. I hate getting so far behind, but I'll get caught up tonight.

Memom:
That milk of magnesia crap...Caleb had to drink that when he got an upper GI scan for the reflux and I think he drank it only because he was so hungry he couldn't refuse. I was really shocked he drank it as it looked really gross to me.

nope, no boss named fred here. or at least not that i remember anyway.

yes, it's etched in my head because it's my favorite place in the world! i really don't know epcot, DHS or AK like i know MK though. i mean, i can get around those without a map, but not like MK.

after small world i'd go to either pinnochio's for a meal or you could do scuttle's landing or mrs. pott's for a snack. or even go the other way to columbia harbor house since it's right around the corner. off the TTA your closest thing would be the lunching pad, although they really don't have meals there, just snack-y stuff. but cosmic ray's is right up the way a little, as is the noodle station if they're open while you're there. ;)

and you know you're the disney wise one - you've been way more often than i have and you know all these things!!!

nope, never been to columbia harbor house. i'm not big on chicken tenders and fried cod, which is i'm sure what they serve there. and i don't like tuna salad because i don't eat mayo. i'm telling you - i'm a very strange girl!

Great pics as usual. Happy to here Jill 'passed' her test :lmao: (only those of us who have done that can truly appreciate the joke)

Canadian conversation side- Even though declansdad loves dulse, I find it disgusting.

Our students started back Monday and we are looking at our first possible storm day tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.;)

Thanks for the PM. I think we've made a decision that everyone will enjoy.

It seems like I've answered you about the storm day before, but I'm a little delirious tonight. I had some oral surgery this morning and am on pain medicine, so I'm a little loopy. Did you get the day off? I want to wait a few weeks and get a snow day. After a break, I feel like I can make if for a while, so I don't want to waste a weather day.

Oh I love the Haunted Mansion! I really really do! Awesome photos! And I love the gypsy-style cart for souvies! I really think that is very creative! And you got both of my HM souveniers there! The gray-ish t-shirt with haunted mansion written in pink on it, and the doombuggy licence plate (which is now hanging in the rec. room!)

Oh poor Jill! I hate fasting! All you can think of is food, all you see is food, all the commercials on TV are for food, a cooking show is on every channel, every building you pass when driving is a restaurant...I'm glad she survived! Hopefully all is well!

It's nice to have souvenirs at home to remind of us being there!

The nurse called her today, but she didn't get the message until after work when the office closed. She'll find out in the morning. She's a carb eater, so they may make her cut back on those a little. We'll just have to wait and see.

MeMom, you take really good pictures in the dark, I have to tell you. I actually know what the picture is of, not like when I take them and its just a blur of darkness :confused3

Glad to hear Jill survived her fast and then made up for it at KFC...I can't wait to be pregnant just so I can eat whatever I want and not feel bad about it! :rotfl:

Most of my pictures are dark blurs. I get lucky occasionally. Maybe one day I'll have a fancy schmancy camera that gets great dark ride and fireworks pictures. Until then, it'll just be shoot a bunch and delete all but a few.

Now that she's said something about KFC, I've had it on my mind. When I can eat something more than soft foods in a few days, I may have to go and get some. Drew loves it, but Trent doesn't. I get it about twice a year, and Drew can put away the better portion of a bucket in a few days!

Thanks DeclansDad and Brookelisabeth for letting me know what 'prarrie oysters' are.....I will never eat those.....EVER! Thanks for the heads up...:rotfl2: I think.

MeMom the castle shopping pics are lovely. I never knew they had so much castle merchandise. Our friend should love those pics. ;)

I couldn't go on Haunted mansion last time because of the refurb, Lexi is scared to go on, I hope I can change her mind by summer.

BrooklynnsMommy I feel for you today, having been through it twice before. It's not the best way to spend the morning. I don't share your love of KFC, but I hope you enjoyed it. Glad everything went fine. We should all be so thankful for all the medical testing they do now for pregnancies. Gives us piece of mind.

I hope Lexi will go on it. Wouldn't you love to see the amazement in her face when she sees the ghost in her cart?

I live that castle.

great update and pics.

I love the HM.

When will you be back to see the castle and ride through the mansion?

Yes, we have a syrup drink to make up the night before with warm water so it fully disolves and then we top it up with cold water in the morning and drink it 1hr before seeing the Dr for the blood test.

I read on the pack its a lemon flavour drink and I'm told its not horrid tasting, just REALLY sweet!!!

Fingers crossed it all comes back normal!!!

xxx

Here's to healthy pregnancies, easy deliveries, and beautiful babies for all!

LOL, glad to help out. I think Westerners find them quite the treat.

Zebra domes are my kind of treat!

LOVE the HM pics! That's my favoritest ride!

You'll be hopping on a doom buggy of your own very soon!

Great pictures and so happy that Jill enjoyed KFC. I could go for some of that, but unfortunately I'm not pregnant and really need to fast, like for the rest of my life. :rotfl:

I need to fast, too, for about thirty days and thirty nights. I can't get motivated to lose weight in my old age.

Memom:

I'm sorry he had to go through that. I'm sure he was much better about drinking it than I was! And yeah, it was GROSS!

nope, no boss named fred here. or at least not that i remember anyway.

It's been a while since we went to Pinocchio's. The last time I was at Mrs. Potts' Cupboard was in October of 2007, so it may be time for another ice cream treat from there!

Honestly, I'm not big on either of those things either, but somehow they just hit the spot sometimes when I'm in that place. The tuna was pretty good, but it wasn't the best I've ever had.

************************************

Since I was pretty much supposed to lay around and do nothing all day and I am taking pain killers, I've slept off and on. The doctor called to check in on me this afternoon and told me to go back to sleep, so I did.

This is the dream I had:

I was in Disney World.
Yep, it's true.

I had a Minnie Mouse plastic square-ish tropical-themed plate and a bigger round plate with me on which I was eating a lunch I had brought into the park. I laid them down for a moment, and a man with a little girl on his shoulders reached down and picked them up.

I told him they were mine.
He didn't believe me.
I showed him my fork, and asked him why in the world would I be carrying a silver fork in the park if it didn't go with those plates.

He held them up high and taunted me with them, and then when I told him I would find a Disney cop, he reluctantly threw them at me.

A few minutes later, I noticed Disney security was following me. They questioned me about the knife I had.

Knife? No, I had a fork.

Then I found myself at a picture pick-up place. On one end of the counter, people were picking up their ride pictures. On the other end, a printer was printing out childhood pictures of me!
Brooklynn was behind the counter of the picture pick-up window.

I asked the workers where Jill was.
They said they didn't know in those voices that tell you they absolutely do know.

While I'm trying to figure that out, a Tower of Terror CM runs by being chased by a Disney manager-type guy. He chased him into a side street.

I heard there was a riot at Tower of Terror, and it had something to do with the fact that dancing princess worked there and had come across the guy who had taken my plate and an argument ensued.

I'm not sure how the rest of the ToT workers got involved or why the one was being chased.

I asked again where Jill was.
They still wouldn't say.

I just stood there and held Brooklynn.
She had on a purple shirt.

A lady started talking to me as if she knew me, so I assumed I was supposed to know her. She wanted to know when the Voices of Liberty were coming out to sing and where.

I showed her the pathway, between some rows of dorms, where they would come out.

I woke up.
Thank heavens!

I don't know if I should go back to sleep again! :rotfl:

Have you read the Kingdom Keepers books by any chance, or have any of your students described it to you. It sounds like that dream could be a chapter in one of those books. I have bought both of them for my 10 year old and read them myself. They are very good!

Also wanted to say I have been enjoying the updates. Love the pics! I even have some of those metal ornaments in my collection.

Jill I am glad you are doing fine! The why's will go away...eventually!

wow.....what a dream!

so you had oral surgery, huh? hope you wake up feeling better. i had a cavity filled a few months ago and they gave me ativan before to relax me (i have dentist anxiety).....and boy did it ever! i was in and out of dreams like that all day.

/
We should have the internet in a week or so so I will be on more often.

Why??

I'm excited for you to get internet!

Hope you are doing well and sorry you had to starve and be stuck SO many times. That's no fun :sad2:

MeMom, I hope you are feeling ok from your oral surgery. If you have any questions let me know b/c that's what I do everyday :upsidedow

Sorry that you had to have the oral surgery. Hope you are feeling better. I'm glad that Jill survived her fast, too. I would not have done well between not eating and then having to get stuck that many times.

What a dream! I hope that you managed to get some real rest in after in that. :rotfl:

I would hazard to guess he is a diehard -- everytime I have been in his office to pick up tests or drop tests off in the last two years, he has had a different desktop background on his computer. ;)

YOAMD on the coffee mug. I can't wait to see the new designs.

It was fun to talk Disney instead of norm-referenced scores. :rotfl:

I have heard about them, but have never read any of them. Sounds like maybe I should write my dream and make some money off of it! I wouldn't mind being a writer for a living. I could travel to do research and then write about it and get paid. Seems like a good job!

Pull a tooth.
Write a book.
Make money.

Not bad.

Now, just how many teeth do I have left?

Oh MeMom, what a dream! Hope you are feeling better!

From the dental work or from the dream??? :rotfl:

wow.....what a dream!

so you had oral surgery, huh? hope you wake up feeling better. i had a cavity filled a few months ago and they gave me ativan before to relax me (i have dentist anxiety).....and boy did it ever! i was in and out of dreams like that all day.

Total dentalphobic here. Maybe Erica knows the real word for it.

I am lucky in that I know my dentist well. Our kids went to school together, so we've shared many years of field trips, sports and honor activities, working in the concession stands, etc. He knows what a big baby I am, and he hand-holds me through it all. He kicks up the 'laughing gas' and tells me to breathe deeply and go to my happy place! :)

Why??

I'm glad that she'll have a way to put up more pictures of Brooklynn, too. She sends me phone pictures sometimes, but it'll be nice for her to be able to put up a random picture of her playing with her kitchen or dressing up in one of her Punky Brewster-ish outfits where I can see it better.

So far, so good. I can feel the throbbing a little, but nothing I can't handle. I had the pain meds for yesterday, but I'm not supposed to take anything if I go to school today, and I am going to school, so I'll just do OTC pain relievers today, if needed. I slept off and on all day yesterday, which is very different for me. My sleep meter probably thinks it is having a malfunction!

Sorry that you had to have the oral surgery. Hope you are feeling better. I'm glad that Jill survived her fast, too. I would not have done well between not eating and then having to get stuck that many times.

What a dream! I hope that you managed to get some real rest in after in that. :rotfl:

She'll talk to the nurse or doctor this morning to get the results. I'll check in here after she calls to tell me what they say. She's young and healthy, so surely anything they see of concern will be easily cared for.

After I woke up, I went in the kitchen and washed a few dishes. Trent came in, and I started telling him the dream. He thought it was weird after the first few sentences. I'm pretty sure he had left the room before I finished the story!

I'll forgive his rudeness, though. His mind was only on getting over to a friend's house to watch Florida play football.

*******************************************

When we last left you (and our previously departed friends at the Haunted Mansion), we went for shopping and eating.

I've shown the shopping, so

here's the eating part.

First, here's one that was on the way to the eating part.

IMG_0406.jpg

He made no attempts to attack us or anyone around us.
He was from one of those peaceful tribes.

We ate here.

IMG_0407.jpg

Because we were in the area. ;)
And I think Jill said John had never eaten there.

IMG_0408.jpg

I want a whole sleeve of these to have for get-togethers at home.

IMG_0409.jpg

We went upstairs to eat.

IMG_0410.jpg

IMG_0411.jpg

There were job offerings to ponder as we ate.

IMG_0412.jpg

Anyway, that's where we ate. They give you hefty portions, so I can never eat it all.

This time, though, I think I took Jill's advice and did not carry a piece of fish around in a baggie for two hours before I finally threw it away.

Have a good day, everyone!

I will eat at CHH in June; I will eat at CHH in June; I will eat at CHH in June -- I have wanted to for several trips, but we always end up at Pecos.

That clam chowder looks delicious!

I am glad to hear that Jill convinced you not to carry around fish in a baggie!!! :lmao:

We ate here.

:cool2: so do i get a prize?

There were job offerings to ponder as we ate.

IMG_0412.jpg

ray would totally have done this. he wants to crab fish for a season so he can make a bucketload of money in like 3 weeks and i told him no, that i'd rather have my husband alive.

This time, though, I think I took Jill's advice and did not carry a piece of fish around in a baggie for two hours before I finally threw it away.

probably good advice.

Hope everything came out ok with Jill's tests. And I am glad that you are feeling better. That was quite an entertaining dream, at least to me. I agree that the Kingdom Keepers book are a great read.
Oh yeah, I thought of you and Brooklynn yesterday while I was at Target. In their dollar bin, they had a bunch of Monster's Inc stuff. They had notebooks, pencils, little coloring books and socks. They also had Toy Story and The Incredibles.

I'll forgive his rudeness, though. His mind was only on getting over to a friend's house to watch Florida play football.

At least his priorities were in order! :thumbsup2:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good Morning! Hope you're feeling better today MeMom and that you had nice peaceful dreams rather than odd ones. I find too that when I dream about WDW that it is different than in real life. It looks different or certain things are in the wrong parks or all mashed together....weird! At least you and Brooklyn were safe and you got your plates back! :upsidedow I often dream about walking through a Haunted Mansion...but it's not the Haunted Mansion that is now. The decor is all brown, more like an abandoned farm house and I'm always alone in it. Strange!

Don't you just love Columbia Harbour House?! Their food is good and there usually isn't much of a wait. Plus eating upstairs is often quiet and relaxing. Thanks for sharing as I didn't get there on this past trip! And good idea on not carrying fish in a baggie....that is a nightmare in itself!

Jill - nice to hear that you're getting the internet! :goodvibes I can't wait to hear more from you! Hope you're feeling well!

Thanks for all the great pictures of my favorite CS restaurant in Magic Kingdom! I love everything there - the tuna sandwich, the hummus sandwich, the mac n cheese, and the clam chowder (though I wish it still came in a bread bowl!). Between this and the other TR I just read (Lessa's!) that showed pictures of the cheeseburgers at Beaches and Cream, I am REALLY hungry now!

That dream is HILARIOUS! Don't you wish that you knew what dreams like that meant? CHH looks good, definitely will have to eat there soon.

btw, I had KFC last night for dinner and though of Jill. It was delishhh!

Hope you are feeling better today.

We've never eaten at CHH, have to try there with the newbies.

There's part of the upstairs dining area that is over the outside walkway. We like to sit by the window and watch people walk under... but then we like to people watch all over Disney (it's very entertaining!)
