over rated- Ohana dinner

We've done O'Hana's before...it was a below average experience given the hype and especially the price. Haven't been back in years.

It was a one and done for my family. The food was okay but it was unbearably loud and if the waiter called us "Cuz" one more time I was going to backhand him.

I am so glad that we are not the only weirdos who don't like Ohana dinner. We've tried it three times and decided it's not our style. Food is just mediocre at best and the atmosphere is too loud. We've dined here with both Dining Plan and OOP and felt waste of money both ways.

We love Ohana and its a must every trip, but we did have one of the meals be rushed and hubby was so mad he swore he would not go back..but the next time we did not let them rush us and have not had one problem since..we love the food..yes expensive we pay OOP for all of our trips but worth it to us for our splurge meal..

Yes it was a "once and done" for us DH hated it, the service was slow and he thought the meats were fatty. I'm always surprised how hard it is to get a ressie there

As you can see from reading this thread, some felt too rushed, some felt like they waited too long for the food, some said over-cooked meats, some said undercooked meats etc. Bottom line is try it yourself and don't listen to a bunch of strangers on the internet.

The poster who said they wouldn't go back because a few years ago a server told her husband he has to eat more next time, really made me laugh. I am from NJ and I guess we don't get easily insulted because I don't even know how you took that as an insult.

Hi everyone! I'm the one who started this thread....

Please understand that I was just sharing my thoughts, after our long awaited, and much anticipated ADR for Ohana. I rarely do reviews, or share my thoughts on forums. I don't ever want to start controversy! I just thought I would share my thoughts about our experience, as others have shared, and have helped me make decisions about trip planning.

Obviously, everyone has their own opinion of what a "great dining experience" is. I know that many families consider this a must do for their WDW trips, and I can so appreciate that!
Perhaps, the places we did enjoy on our trip, were not what others would enjoy, but that's OK too.

One of the biggest challenges I faced all over WDW, was the amount of sugar, calories and carbs, in the majority of the foods, that I must avoid as a diabetic. I've heard it said that "calories don't count" while on vacation and at Disney! But I must always be mindful of sugar, calories and carbs, and so the meal that I paid a lot for at Ohana, was not ideal. I suppose I just didn't realize what the food would be, despite going over the menu head of time. The menu on Disney's site doesn't really describe it well. In hindsight, perhaps I could have made special requests to the chef. In addition, it just didn't feel like a fun experience, with the rush, and the lack of entertainment in our seating area, and the high price. This is what I was attempting to share about our experience.

In retrospect, I just know now, that if I do get to go back to WDW, I will try somewhere new and get a new experience, and a new memory. This was a wonderful trip and I am just hoping to convince my DH to take another trip to WDW trip sometime!!!!!! :worship:
