Over-rated food that you have tried...

Zebra domes- to me they have that "refrigerator" taste to them. We go to Boma every trip and my daughter really enjoys the zebra domes, so I occasionally taste a dome. Nope, still don't like them.

Tonga toast- Gross. WAY too sweet for any meal, much less breakfast. I love a huge breakfast- eggs, meat, pancakes/waffles, toast, etc., but Tonga Toast is like having an overly-sweet dessert for breakfast.

Cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, etc.- They are just too big and too sweet. I think people are amazed by the size, but for us it's just too much sweet.

BOG- We've been here twice for lunch (first time for DD to see it, second time for DH to see it). Both times the food was mediocre at best, and the fries were terrible (soggy and salty). The first time we ate in the Library (? not the main Ballroom, not the West Wing) and it was peaceful. Second time we ate in the Ballroom, and it was just like eating in a college dining hall. Noisy, crowded, smelly, stacks of dirty dishes. No thanks. We won't be back.

The naan bread and dips at Sanaa was way overpriced (most places here give naan free with the meal, thought Sanaa's would be special but it really wasn't, just overloaded us with bread!)
Most Indian restaurants in my area (greater Boston) include rice with the meal but charge for naan.

So many of the things mentioned here I absolutely love. I don't know if I would call it overrated, but the most disappointed I've been has been with Be Our Guest. It was just meh. Service was good, happy I did it at least once. But it was just not what I had hoped.

@Westcoastwild I loved you mentioning your different scales.

That's IT. I am still booking Kona breakfast, but DEFINITELY not getting the Tonga Toast. This is fine, I can try the pineapple macadamia pancakes

Crab Cakes at ANY WDW restaurant.

Say what they might about them, the cannot hold a candle to the genuine MD crab cake.

If you have never had a real crab cake and are --say--from Idaho or North Dakota-- the WDW offerings might seem good.

Otherwise---

Crystal Palace lunch would be the top runner for over-rated on my list. Thought the food was unimpressive to say the least and we didn't even get to see all the characters after spending well over an hour there. Definitely prefer Tusker character meal over this.

Casting my vote for the giant cinnamon bun from Gaston's Tavern. I was SO excited for it, but it was a major letdown. Smells a million times better than it tastes. It's a warm gooey loaf of disappointment.

HOWEVER... the BBQ pulled pork cheese fries at AK was one of the most delicious things I have eaten in the park. Give those a try!

Well, all the dislikes for zebra domes made me decide to skip that side trip. I'll just get a Napoleon from France :)

Earl of Sandwich. I can't for the life of me figure out why that place has such a cult following.
SAME HERE!!! I dont get the hype over EoS either. Its A SANDWICH!!! Sorry but i'll pick hot meals at WGPE over EoS any day. And now that Disney Springs has more amazing dining options, I doubt i'll ever be back to EoS. Just not a fan. Its like a glorified Quizno's or Subway.

I also think the Dole Whip is way over hyped.

I think all of the food is overrated on these boards. "Amazing" is a word that gets overused way too much on the restaurant boards!

That being said, I think that Disney generally serves above average 'park food'. It's fairly consistent and combined with the atmosphere, makes for a good dining experience. And I usually feel that way whether I am eating at Pecos Bill or California Grill.

May be an unpopular opinion, but IMHO most WDW food is overrated. There are exceptions, but to call most of it above average requires (a) grading it on a "park food" scale and (b) ignoring the price point.

I largely agree with this.

But to be more specific, I have been most disappointed by:

- School Bread in Norway
- Grey Stuff at Be Our Guest (actually, BoG in general)
- Voodoo Sticky Pig Wings at Club Villain
- Earl of Sandwich. But I've only ever tried the one in Disney Village at Disneyland Paris (and only because much of the food at DLP was truly terrible.) Was thoroughly unimpressed though.
- Boma (I really thought I would LOVE this place but definitely an overpriced MEH for me)
- Pretty much every pastry/baked good I've had at WDW (especially the cupcakes)... EXCEPT the Mickey-shaped cake pops. Those are awesome!

I'm neutral on the Zebra Domes. I think they're kinda good, but wouldn't bother unless I was staying at AKL.

Not sure if it's overrated but any pastry from France. I used to go there all the time in the 80s/early 90s and never thought it was the best but I was a teen/early adult and it was junk so what did I know. Then I said one trip, nothing is appetizing and I never looked back.

Also, tried the pork nachos at Captain Cooks and I ate them because I bought them.

Oh wow- exactly how I felt March 2015. Went for the lobster roll, got talked out of it by staff, and talked into the pork wonton nachos. gross.

I don't think I'd be happy with the lobster roll either. I live in CT and like mine hot and butters on a toasted New England style bun.

they even gave me a "free sample" of the lobster roll at captain cooks. Tasted the same to me, as the one I had at Columbia Harbor House- but they insisted the pork nachos were better. I didn't like them. But ya know, to each his own, right? Since I live in the Northwest and have never had a truly good lobster roll, what do I know?

Zebra domes. Not sure if my taste buds were off the day I tried them or what because I really thought I'd love them. It wasn't a total loss, though. I happily moved on to better things.

Another vote for zebra domes. Also thought the grapefruit cake at Hollywood Brown Derby was too sour.

whether it's food in the parks or food on DCL, i've never been impressed with any of the food. On our very first park visit - probably 12-15 years ago, we thought Ohana was awesome (the pineapple with caramel sauce era) but then one year it became as milquetoast as all the other food.
