Over range microwave recommendations

Our microwave died yesterday. We went to Home Depot today and they have none in stock! Everything has to be ordered. The one we thought we might get can’t even be ordered from the manufacturer. It is not available. We have stainless GE Profile fridge and stove and thought we’d just get the same for the microwave. Any suggestions? Reviews are terrible on so many sites on appliances.

I’ve had a few different brands and haven’t noticed much difference in any of them, but I rarely do anything but heat up leftovers or frozen vegetables so don’t really try any of the different options! I think I would stay with the brand your range is, so the finish will match.
I would suggest that you look at build.com , I believe it is owned by Ferguson. I have used them for lots of remolding projects, and they have been excellent to deal with. You can search for brands in stock and I think right now they have a discount available. Hope it’s not against the rules to post a website

We have GE profile appliances too. It is ok to cook etc but the fan is so loud ! I think when we were looking Panasonic was really quiet but at the time I didn’t like the knob look. Now I wish I would have went with that.

Really not sure how the fan really works either always have steam dripping down the front that I keep wiping off so it doesn’t drip into my pot or on my flat stove top after I take the pot off.

Do your self a favor and go with a real hood vent that is actually vented to the outside, then buy a stand alone microwave..a built in one If you can make it work.

Reviews for appliances tend to be fairly useless. You get a few people who had a specific problem and then they go to every website they can find to bash that manufacturer and say how terrible their products are. Many also seem to exaggerate their issues and you have no idea if that person is just a chronic complainer or actually posts meaningful reviews. People who don't have issues rarely going posting in multiple places that they like a product. Which microwave is best for your family probably depends on how you plan to use it. Do you plan to have it as a built-in (then need to check dimensions to see the new one fits) or just place it on the counter? Agree with a prior poster that we mostly use it to reheat things, make popcorn, boil frozen vegetables and things like that. Have never found it a suitable replacement for the regular oven and some items tend to heat unevenly no matter how you arrange the food.

About 10 years ago we replaced all our appliances except our fridge. We have an over the stove one and replaced it with a Samsung over the stove. About 5 years in it started to keep running even after the timer went off. Something with the door. Hubby "fixed" it by breaking something off the door. That worked for another 2 or 3 years. Now if it keeps running we have to open the door and leave it open for about 2 min. It doesn't do it all the time. We plan on replacing it but aren't in any hurry as it works just fine. If it were up to me, we would have a counter one but we don't want to have to take out the vent and cover the holes in the cabinet.

I had to switch to a counter top microwave when mine died. The building code changed since my house was built and there was no longer enough space for one to be installed. No one around here sold them.
