Anyone have to replace the "heat sensor" in their oven.

From what I read on the internet it seems to be pretty easy.

BTW its a Whirlpool stove/oven.

it must be pretty easy-my DH replaced the ENTIRE control panel for our GE oven, and it took him maybe 10 minutes, tops. hope you get it fixed soon!

We did it on a maytag (around 10 years old) about 2 years ago and it was quite simple. You felt a little weird taking the thing apart and then using it. The only issue with ours is that when it "beeps" (timer) is sounds sickly. Our sensor went out when we used our self cleaning feature...never again.

Thank you.

I am hoping to get the part this week and getting it working again.

We are out of gas on the grill so planning meals is really hard.

There's a youtube video for just about everything. Try googling your model number and "thermistor replacement".

Thank you.

Time to warm up the index finger and get inventive with the microwave.

Good luck getting by until the part arrives.

Microwave, toaster oven, griddle.

Breakfast for dinner is always fun, and heck so is cereal!! Kids will love you.

Our appliances always go down as soon as I file the taxes. This year it was the fridge. My part took a week, hope yours comes in soon.

OK...the oven is down...

...but what about the four burners on top of the stove?

Hamburger Helper immediately comes to mind in a budget-conscious world.

I did post, thankfully that I was able to get gas for the grill. Don't know where to post went.

My BFF owns an appliance store about 700 miles away.....she was able to find the part on an oven set for scrap!!! The part would have been around $90 plus shipping if ordered directly from Whirlpool or $88. plus 10-15 business days if ordered from a semi-local applicance repair shop...paying for part before ordering.
She put the part(sensor) in the mail today:goodvibes
She also said its pretty easy to fix....regular handyman tools!!!

At first we could not use the stovetop because when the whole oven/stove is turned on the broiler element is on and overheats the whole oven. So, my BFF explain that removing the broiler element will allow us to use the stove top....yeah!!!

Last night my son did frozen pizzas on grill......alittle burnt on edges but they were tasty. Not bad for his first attempt.

I am happy that I can use the food I purchased now...via stove top or grill.

Thanks again for all the suggestions!!

Between the internet and my BFF we could open an all girl Applicance repair....."Mommy's fixing" or something like that.

In the past we have repaired many parts on our washer....which runs daily due to having 5 kids. DH says our applicances actually age 2x as fast due to useage.
Instead of sorting whites and darks, I can actually sort in colors of the rainbow.....2-3 loads of just red, load of tourquoise, now I have graduated to a full load of yellow and at least 2 loads of khaki. Don't even get me started on the blacks & navy. Hahaha.

If your broiler comes on when the stovetop is used, that is something that needs to be fixed!

The whole oven sensor is broke causing the oven to not work properly. The fault codes displayed indicated that it is the heat sensor.....luckily for us something that can easily be repaired.

The fault codes occured when the broiler was on, thus if there is ANY power to the oven at all the broiler element is on. We have kept the power to the oven off at the main breaker.

Thanks to my BFF I was able to learn that we could take out the broiler element and use the stove top, as the sensor does not effect the stove.

Crossing fingers and lots of prayers that we'll be cooking again by Easter!

It shouldnt be difficult. I had to replace the electronic ignitor in my gas oven and it was pretty easy. If you dont have the owners manual I suggest you locate one online, it will make things easier if you can see how everything is accessed. Good Luck!

Silly me....I posted one thread about the oven repair....easy, experience, etc.

Then I posted a different thread for meal ideas. This whole this has me thinking upside down.
Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks again for your assistane.

If you ever need any help with any problems.....God Bless you, knocking on wood, that neither you nor any of your family have to face unexpected job loss, a county that has a super high unemployment rate and financially stresses all hitting at once....however if you every do, remember that the Disboards are here to help. God Bless

You can look up where I live, we have some of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Our real estate is very high also.

I am sorry to hear that.

Our area has been so greatly affected. At first it was so hard on the kids, but now about 50% of the families here have at least one parent who has lost a job. Thankfully our strong community keeps up together. Our plan is to be able to ride out this crazy storm until the oldest 2 graduate.....within the next 3 yrs.
Oldest in line for great acedemic scholarships, other maybe in line for football scholarships...so cannot really uproot them right now.

Just going through some tough times with the oven and dryer happeniing all at the same time.
