Ovarian cyst rupture question

I had a cyst rupture last night and ended up at the ER .. thought i was dying, super painful!

My question is how long does this last, the major pain is gone, but I feel very swollen and uncomfortable. I have something for the pain and it is helping and nurse said that once the fluid disappears I will feel better. How long does it take for it to be reabsorbed ?

I'm so sorry! I know how bad it can hurt. With my first one, I ended up in the ER too. I thought my appendix had ruptured! The pain for me usually lasts only a day or two.

Pretty much the same here. ER-sure I was dying and about 3 days or so. But FYI they can leave scar tissue and when you get pregnant and start to stretch they can hurt like a son of gun. Kinda felt like I was tearing something. It doesn't happen to everyone but keep it in mind when you decide to have kids.

Me too! Did the ER, thought it was my appendix, the whole deal. I recall it taking just about a day or two after the actual rupture to stop hurting. The worst pain was only for a few hours while I was at the ER. After I got home it was mostly annoying but not agonizing.

I didn't go to the ER, but I should have. I did go to the urgent care. It was my right side and I thought I was dying. I had a fever of 101. I was swollen and the pain lasted about 3 days.

After that cyst burst, it grew back and so did one on the left side. They ended up about 9cm on both side and just constant pain. I had them for about 11 months until I had a laparoscopy this past October. The doctor drained both of them and removed some endometriosis I had.

Since then I feel so much better, no pain!
