My sister will be staying at fort wilderness in May. She rented a camper from greenburg camper rentals with the option to include a golf cart. I'm being told that fort wilderness does not allow this anymore. You can rent a camper but you have to rent the golf carts from fort wilderness only and that this a new rule. I can't seem to find info anywhere on this.

doll,

it's been discussed here a few months ago. WDW has changed their stance with the trailer vendors and off-site golf cart providers.

Here is a thread about no more golf carts with trailer rentals from September. I thought maybe Greenberg had an exception but if you say not, then not.

Same timeframe about Disney sticking the trailer vendors for extra fees. Guess who ends up paying those?

More on these topics.

Disney has tried to run the off-site golf cart vendors out of business. Now the vendor has to meet you well off Disney property and let you pull their trailer with the cart on it to the Fort, offload it, and take their trailer back. Do it all in reverse when returning the cart. If you don't have a hitch on your vehicle, you use their vehicle back and forth.

This off-site cart thread is from June.

Disney claims there are too many carts running around the Fort at times and cutting back on the number rented from off-site vendors will help the situation. However, in my unscientific opinion, the number of rental carts at the Fort at any time is MUCH smaller than the number of private carts people bring from home.

Here is a thread from last week of 2 folks using an off-site vendor (Tee Time Golf Carts aka Kenny) and the pickup offsite and drop-off worked fine.

Disney is trying to make life difficult so they can make more money off their higher priced cart rentals but you don't HAVE to rent from just them. And squeezing the trailer vendors why? Because they can.

Thanks for the info. When she rented from greenburg that last time in 2013 Disney was allowing that one particular camper rental company because it was offered as a package.

Sorry or sadly have to agree with Disney on the golf cart issue. My stays this past august and especially October there were WAY too many golf carts it has become a safety issue. It was especially insane in October I am surprised nobody got seriously injured. I would say if you really want a golf cart then bite the bullet and reserve from Disney or buy a used one you can get aused cart fairly cheap it may not be the prettiest but it will get the job done. After 2 visits it would be paid for compared to golf cart rentals. October traffic jams of golf carts all loops, children darting out unsupervised or no parent around. It was a zoo. It's just going to be a matter of time before something really bad happens, Disney has to get some control of this situation, and hope they don't stop privately owned golf carts from coming into the fort. Luckily my golf cart is street legal it is considered a slow moving vehicle we can drive on any road that is 35 mph or less either way I am fine with my golf cart.
If u can get an offsite golf cart go for it while you can. Good luck and have a magical experience at the fort.

A number of RV resorts in Florida are requiring property damage and liability insurance if you have your own golf cart on their property. We got a one year policy on ours from Progressive for $100. I can foresee Disney doing the same to sort of impose a limit on non disney carts.

I think it all depends on what time of year you go. I can see Summer, October & December being cart heavy but not for the entire year.

Also, we bought a used golf cart and it still cost a large chunk of money. We stay 2 weeks plus and it will take several trips in order for it to pay for itself....like 3 - 4! Even the shabby ones are 1500 plus.
