Outlook Express 6 mail question

I just got Comcast internet service. They have Outlook Express 6 on the tool bar (I think that's what it's called) across the top of the screen. When I try to set up an account, I can't get past one of the questions...It's asking me for my incoming mail server and outgoing mail server. There's a drop down menu with three choices of incoming mail servers...POP3, IMAP or HTTP. The next question asks you to type the incoming mail server in the box. The third question...An SMTP server is the server that is used for outgoing mail...then you have to type your Outgoing mail SMTP in the box. I'm totally confused and have no idea how I find out what my incoming and outgoing servers are. Anyone here know? Thanks!

depends on your service provider.

For example, for my earthlink account, mine is set up as:

Incoming & Outgoing SMTP Server: mail.earthlink.net

If you don't know, look in the literature they gave you (if any) when you got the email account you're trying to use.

Or, call their tech support hotline.

Per their website (this link here)

POP3 is incoming-mail-server type.

For incoming mail server enter mail.comcast.net For outgoing mail server enter smtp.comcast.net

incoming is POP3

try this in the next fields

incoming.....mail.comcast.net
outgoing.....smtp.comcast.net


Not sure if it will work out for you too...can't hurt to try though

The joys of setting up your Outllok Express email account. I think I've done it often enough that I could enter the info with my eyes closed.
