Outlandish discussion - Jamie Fraser & the Outlander Series!

I saw that also and think he can totally be the 23 year old Jamie! Diana Gabaldon thinks so and since she wrote him.... ;) I hope they do this series justice because I am such a fan of the books.

I think its going to be fantastic. DG is right on board and is helping out. Can't go wrong with the author at the table!

I'm a huge fan of these books as well! I'm very excited for the series to come out. There's been a great (well, sometimes contentious) FB site for the series -- all fan-based -- that's had casting suggestions, lots of men in kilts, lots of Scotland stuff, and that's been fun. If you're interested, it's Outlander Series (that's the name of the FB page).

I'll be getting Starz for sure next spring!

I believe I'm already a member of that group! lol

I love the Outlander Series. I have tried to get a few people into it and have yet to succeed. Most of my friends aren't really readers and while they tend to like the idea of the plot they take one look at the size of Outlander and flat out refuse to read it. I got my mom to read the first book but she didn't get into it. I don't know what is wrong with that woman. :confused3:confused3

However, my boyfriend is a reader. He is currently reading Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and enjoys it. I described Outlander to him and he is excited to try it. :cool1::cheer2::goodvibes I knew I liked him for a reason lol.

This is going to add to my cable bill. If I add Starz for this, I will have to let DH add Cinemax for Strike Back and Banshee. I'd have to play fair.

I started reading this series last year and quickly devoured them. The other week I was actually thinking that I needed to pick them up and read them again. Such a wonderful love story, and who here doesn't want to be Claire? :rotfl2:

I had no idea that they were making this into a series for Starz and of course I don't have Starz. Maybe by next year, when it comes out, I can justify the cost and somehow talk me husband into it?

I have no idea who the actor is, but googled him and this is what came up. Yeah, I think he will work just fine as Jamie!

His name is Sam Heughen (maybe I've got that spelled right...). He's actually Scottish! Diana Gabaldon herself said she's seen his audition reel, and thinks he's perfect for the part -- first role cast (at least that's been announced) for the series!

I think you'll just have to find the money somewhere -- maybe cut back the kids' lunch money? :)
