The first time we went to DW, it was nothing short of magical for DD (just turned 4 years). She was in the midst of the princess phase, loved everything princess, watch the movies religiously, you get the point...fast forward to now, she is 6.5 and while she still likes the princess, it certainly isn't to the extent it was but she isn't quite into the "next stage" either, "That's so Random," "Suite Life," "Hannah Montana," etc....How was it for you daughter ages 6-8ish? What did they like? DD has a fav princess, Rapunzel and I bought her that dress from the Disney store and the bathing suite/flip flops. We still plan to do BBB and CRT. Please tell me she will still love it. They don't know we are going yet. Its a Vday surprise : )

You have nothing to worry about! She will *definitely* still love it! My daughter was 9 last year when we went and was not into princesses at all anymore (or so she claimed!).. but as soon as she saw them at the meet and greet, she had the biggest smile on her face! She was mesmerized! We're going to Cinderella's Royal Table even this year, and she's now 10! She's really excited about it, but I'm sure would never think of admitting that to her friends. ;)

My DD is 7 and she is a closet princess lover. Princesses are not cool anylonger, however when we are at WDW all the love comes right back!

My DD was still into the princesses on the trip we took when she was 8. She had an Aurora tutu outfit for Akershus and everything. But by then it was a "closet" interest because the kids at school had long since labeled princesses "for babies", and she did start trading away some of her princess pins in favor of Tink (who has now been traded away for Muppets :rotfl:). I'd say 5-6 was the peak of her princess phase - for her 6th birthday we went to WDW for the Pirate & Princess party, and on her brother's birthday trip a few months later she got a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover that she just loved.

Actually she's still sort of into the princesses, but now she uses the excuse that it is "for her little sister (3yo)". She has declared that we have to get DD3, who will be 4 or 5 before our next big trip, a BBB makeover next time because DD10 still remembers the one she got at 6 so fondly.

I just turned 30 and I still love it, so I really wouldn't worry about a 6 year old. At that age, they tend to go with the flow and enjoy everything they see anyway. Now if she was 13, it might be a little more questionable.

My dd still like princesses however now her and her friends are really into Tinkerbell and the fairies.

Mine were out of the princess phase by the end of Kindergarten, but they still love Mickey and Minnie. You'll have no problems with a six year old.

My daughters are 6, 9, 12, and 13. They are all still in love with the princesses, and the older ones still love dressing up like the younger ones. Of course they don't do it in front of their friends, but that's ok!

my DD6 still LOVES the princesses and begs to go to DW all the time, I don't even want to think about her being to grown for Princesses yet :) but I think it will all come back to your daughter once you guys are there :thumbsup2

So is mine. DD claims to not like princesses and then almost had a heart attack when I told her I was cancelling our princess meals since she didn't like them anymore. Apparently she still loves them in secret, she just won't admit it out loud around her friends. :confused3

I think you are good.:thumbsup2

My dd is now 12 and way over it. BUt two years we took my MIL for the first time and I had her dress up as Belle. She was sort of reactant. BUT when she was there she loved it:lovestruc look at my av you should of seen her face when the Beast twirled her.:cloud9:

Cute pic!! Thanks everyone. We told the kids last night that they were going. They are excited and DD is excited about the BBB and CRT. Great news! We are going to live it up!!

It really depends on the child. When we went when my DD was 4, she was completely in love with the princesses, did BBB and dressed as Sleeping Beauty most of the time we were there. When we went for her 7th birthday, she decided she was done with princesses, but she was into the fairies. She still did BBB, but dressed as Tink, and didn't like when CMs called her princess. We just went again right before she turned 9. She had no interest in princesses, fairies, or BBB. But she loved the Pirate's League, and had a great time meeting Mickey and friends, Chip n Dale, etc. And she loved the rides - especially the thrill rides! There's magic at every age, it just varies by age and by child.

We had a similar expereince. We took ODD when she was 4 and it was so so magical, I loved it and she loved it! She was in awe of the princesses, it was so precious and special. Last trip she was 7 and didnt care to do a princess meal. Kind of sad! I did surprise her with BBB and CRT and she absolutely loved that! She just dressed up in a pretty summer dress rather than a princess dress and was very happy with that. She still adores WDW and cant wait to go back this fall at 10 yrs. She loves the characters and is now getting more interested in the other rides too.

So for us.. different than at 4, but still wonderful!

We brought my niece who was 6 years 9 months, and much to my surprise she LOVED everything. It was more magical with her than my own girls 4.5 & 2.

I bet your daughter will still be totally into it all.

enjoy :wizard:

I may be almost 17 but I still like the princess. My friend is the student body president at my school and she loves Tangled. You'll have no problem.

I kind of had the opposite experience. During our WDW trip last year, my DD4 refused to wear any princesses costumes and wasn't into princesses at all while my DD9 wanted to still wear princess costumes and meet the princesses  Now I am starting to think that my DD4 is going to be the one who "grows into" the princesses instead of "grow out" of them as she recently asked me to buy her a Tinkerbell and Snow White costume

My dd7 (first grade) used to live and breath princesses...but is mostly out of it. Mind you when the girls who are a little younger who live next door come over to play, she's perfectly happy to throw on a princess dress--but she's just as likely to dress up in something else as well.

I still toss a princess dress into the suitcase for Disney, but leave it as an option if she wants to wear it. Last time, she wanted to wear it to eat breakfast with the princesses, but took it off after the meal.

However, they still like the character meals---I think they just see them as part of the fun. Dd9 (who has moved from princesses at 4, to fairies a 6, to pirates at 8ish, and now to Disney Channel tweener shows) just commented today that she can't wait to get to Disney again. She's mostly interested in shows/bigger rides/resorts/restaurants, etc.---but still loves it!
