I just wanted to see if anyone had some suggestions for not to miss things in the Outer Banks. My DH and I are headed there on May 8 for the very first time, and I'm really kicking into planning gear. We rented a house in Corolla, so we are mainly looking at things to do around the northern beaches. We don't have any kids and are just looking to have a lot of fun.

Most of the ideas I have are more kid-centered. But a few suggestions:
--a wild horse tour - make sure it is with a reputable company - the ATV tours often have a really bad rep, but there are some good SUV tours (I've heard good things about the one through the Inn at Corolla Light)
--kayak tour (if you guys are in fairly good shape, these tend to be a bit strenuous)
--Climb Jockey's Ridge (or go hang gliding)

Restaurants that I would recommend include
--Duck Donuts (OMG! So yummy and they make them to order right in front of you)
--Prime Only (The best filet I have ever had, you can cut them with a fork! And leave room for the bananas foster desert)
--Colington Cafe
--Ocean Blvd
--Tortugas Lie (near the turn-off for the northern beaches. It's not fancy, but has really good food with a carribean flair)

Hope you have a wonderful trip!!
