Outer Banks, NC or Hilton Head Island, SC???

If you are still considering Hilton Head, check out the Palmetto Dunes Resort. PalmettoDunes.com It is beautiful and the beaches go on for miles. It also has over 11 miles of lagoons for kayaking running through the resort.

We stayed on Hilton Head last summer and are going back again this summer.
The beaches are great, lots to do, and we loved the 50 plus miles of bike paths all over the island.

As an example, we just rented a two bedroom condo for $1575 for TWO weeks total. Includes all the taxes, cleaning fee and even two bikes. We booked with an owner through home away.com and are staying in Palmetto Dunes.
We can walk to the beach in five minutes and are right on the bike path with a large deck for outside grilling. Cannot wait!

Another suggestion would be Kiawah Island Resort near Charleston.

Have fun planning!

I love OBX. We stay in Frisco, NC which is a very small beach town without tons of things to do other then go to the beach. You are, however very close to the Ocracoke Ferry with bikes and shops, and close to the Hatteras Light House, esp. cool at night. Homes are very reasonable to rent, hotels are rustic, from what i can see. You don't have to have an ocean front home to have an ocean view, many decks have great views and many homes that are one lot back have uninterupted views due to empty lots. We are planning a late spring trip this year. We often use Midgettrealty.com

We are also fans of OBX for the reasons above + dog friendly beaches:goodvibes. Midgettrealty.com is great~we've used them too~very reasonable!:)
