Do you have an outdoor fireplace or hearth?

They've become more and more popular over the last few years, and I've seen pictures of some very elaborate (read...expensive!!) hearths people have had built, but of course I couldn't find one to put on this thread!!

We have a small, portable fireplace that I bought for DH one Christmas. We've used it a couple times in the fall, and it works okay as long as you sit close enough to it. A friend of ours has one too, and when we have outdoor get-togethers this time of year, we use them both.

It looks just like this one! :)

I would like to get one of the Coleman one's that you can also cook on...:D

I've thought about getting one but afraid I wouldn't use it enough to justify the price.

Deb, is that you in your pic? Cute, cute, cute!!!!! :sunny:

Shep, ours is a Coleman. It comes with a grill, you just take the rounded sides off. We've haven't cooked anything on it, yet. :D

Yep that's me. I was a little witch. What's spooky is I kinda remember that. They had to lift me up onto a picnic table to do and I kept falling over because I had a snowsuit under it.

That's the kind of stove I'd like. Do you ever toast marshmallows on it?

Yikes..
When I replied I didn't see the pic...
That's the one we want...
But I think it has a gas hookup... It's like $119

Like Deb, we have talked about getting one but felt we wouldn't use it enough to justify buying one. And besides, it would be just another thing in too small of an area that already has too many things! LOL We are trying to rid our lives of things and not having too much success!

Just have to say, Deb, love that witchy picture. Wasn't your original user name a witch name too? And that Jack-O-latern is just GREAT! - (Gotta keep with the Flower/garden topics! LOL)

Shep - Your kids get more and more beautiful with every picture you post. (Not on topic, but just had to say that since this is the first picture of them I've seen in a while).

Shep, the price sounds about right (from what I can remember), that's why it was a good Xmas gift. It doesn't have a gas fitting on it though, it's just for wood, or charcoal too I guess.

You're right Tulirose, I think Deb's name before was Glinda (the Good Witch?) :) Shep's girls are sweet as can be!! :)

Deb, it's funny how you can remember little bits and pieces, like snapshots, of things when you were very small. I hope we're always able to remember them. :) :) Oh, and no marshmallows....yet. ;) :)

We have one.,...used it a couple times this summer to do s'mores...it's put away already...:(

We love ours. DS3 collects all the sticks he can carry (or have us drag home from his bike rides around the block;) ). He's really good at breaking up the sticks for the fireplace. He's recently figured out that he can put cardboard boxes in there to "help" the fire get going.

One of our most memorable family nights was spent around the fireplace with a package of hot dogs, buns and marshmallows. The kids loved making a quick picnic dinner. DH & I said it was one of the strangest combinations we ever had for a dinner but definately a long, lasting memory. DS9 & DS3 both ask to repeat it. This just might be a good weekend to plan that "spontanious" event.:D

I have one that I use all the time. I love the smell of a camp fire and this allows me to enjoy it when I can't get out camping.

I purchased one this year also. I got it at Costco for $89. I saw the same one at Sears for $150. When it comes to making a fire I cheat. I use those fake fireplace logs. They are real easy to use and clean. Not too much smoke either.

Tonight would be the perfect night to fire one up...:(
hopefully we'll get one soon..

Crzy4, Now that's a deal. Maybe I'll check out BJ's, they may have them set up at this time of year.
It would make a perfect gift for DH.
We miss the smell of a real fire. On LI we had a Vermont Castings in the den and a wood fireplace in the LRoom. Here we have a gas fireplace in the great room. I complain about it's not being "the real thing" but it has it's advantages. This morning I started a fire before the kids left for school to take the chill out of the air. I know I wouldn't be hauling logs in at 5am just to take the chill out.
Oh yea, gardening... I'll be planting more bulbs this weekend.

aka Glinda Good Witch of the Northeast.
Thanks for remembering Kim & Tuli:wave2:
