At what age??

DS broke DD's crib tonight
he was able to make a temporary fix....
but she is my last and i don't want buy another one

My oldest climbed up on the railing at 13 months, so she was out of there as fast as I could get a different bed for her. In those days, there weren't "toddler" beds, there were "youth" beds (same idea, but bigger mattress). My youngest was a "wanderer" in bed, so he went into the youth bed at a fairly early age, too.

We got rid of the crib at a year and a half, and used toddler beds with side rails.

My youngest also was climbing out at about 13mths, a toddler bed with a rail works okay. The only bad part is that they can get out on their own

OK - so 15 months isn't tooooo early to think about it then - thanks :)
I couldn't remember how old my oldest was -
and my DS was way young - as he wouldn't sleep in a crib so we tried him in the toddler bed at 13 months thinking that he might just wake up and play rather than wake up and scream (yup didn't work anyways! lol)

DS went into the toddler bed at 14 mos. and DD at 16 mos.

Around 3. DD never tried climbing out.

Patty, I have a crib just sitting around if you need one. It's a really nice convertible one (turns into a toddler bed, then a full-sized.)

All 3 of my kids slept in the crib until they were 2. None of mine every tried to crawl out.

12 months old.

When DS turned one I put him right into a twin bed.
He wasn't climbing out of the crib or anything but I hated that crib...changing those crib sheets was the biggest pain of all.
He was my last & that crib was in the Pennysaver & sold the next week....I couldn't wait to get rid of it.

thank you Melinda -
ha ha maybe you can deliver it to the new house and meet the new neighbor ;)

(although since we won't move in for another 7 months that won't do me much good now would it - lol)

She actually sleeps well in it - and gets herself back to sleep in it so I am afraid to move her out of it -

Plus she shares a room with her brother

Ha! My first dd, I put her in a twin bed at the year mark. My second dd was into everything and we moved into our two story home so, I wanted to keep her off the stairs as long as possible. She stayed in hers until she was 2. DS is now 2 and I'm thinking of putting him in the twin bed but, I think I may just wait until he's 3!:rotfl2:

no, buy a bedrail and put the other side up against the wall.

The only problem is then they learn how to climb out of bed and you spend a significant amount of time trying to gate their bedroom door and keep them in there.

We never used cribs. My 16-month-old sleeps on a twin mattress on the floor. Has since he outgrew the bassinet at around 2 months. My older son slept on the floor mattress until he was about 2-1/2 when we moved him into a regular bed. Never did toddler beds either.

My son was 13 months when we converted the crib to a toddler bed, I hated the crib by then! He slept in it for two months until my mom got him a tigger couch (the foam fold out kind) for Christmas- he decided he liked it better immediately and never slept in the crib/toddler bed again... Now he's in a big boy bed since he rolled all over the floor when he used the couch.

That's so true! :rotfl: The first time I tried moving dd into a toddler bed, she was about 2 1/2. I woke up to noises coming from the living room at around 2 a.m. once. I get up and there is dd raiding the fridge with the TV blaring. She was watching a rerun of Cheers. She was turning into a teenager already! :earseek:

So after a couple of nights of this happening, I put her back in her crib for another 6 months. ;)

Good thing - we have a "dutch door" from when DS was a baby - aka a Mr Ed Door - KWIM?
she already climbs the gate bt hasn't figured out that she could get out of the crib...
