Question specific to renewals for out of state AP's and adding their recently-turned 3-year-old:

My sister and her family (2 older kids) live in Arizona and are up for renewal. Their youngest turned 3 last month and they want to add her as a new passholder.

They're telling my sister that she AND the 3 year old must come down IN PERSON within 60 days of the baby turning 3, in order to get the baby added (with the baby's birth certificate). They said they were told this by two different phone CM's.

Is anyone else in this situation or experienced this??

Nope, but considering they aren't selling any new passes at all, I wouldn't expect them to do anything else than make people show up in person (oh, and collect the parking fee!)

From all my Disney groups and resources I have heard that yes that is correct.
The reason is likely so that Disney is covering themselves and not allowing those ot simply buy a pass that would otherwise not be for sale.
Since a 2 year old didn't need a ticket and now does per Disney policy , they are allowing the exception within their rules which they are not even required to provide.
Of course this isn't very helpful to those out of state but just reiterating all I've seen and heard.

I found this on the disneyland webiste also :

Bought my Magic Key pass when my son was 2 years old which means he did not need a ticket. My son is now 3 and needs a pass himself. Is there a way to get him one? I have no use for my pass if I can't bring him along without paying a full price ticket.”

Hi there, Jennifer!

This is a great question. As you are aware, new Magic Key passes are currently not available for purchase. So situations like yours do come up from time to time. An exception can be made for Magic Key holders with children turning three years old who will then require theme park admission. To inquire about obtaining a new Magic Key pass for your son, please call the Magic Key Holders phone line at (714) 781-PASS or (714) 781-7277.
