Just wondering if anyone out there who doesn't live in FL has purchased AP's for other immediate family members....

I'm asking because even though we only go once a year, twice if we're lucky but that's rare, I don't know if it's worth it to get my husband a pass as well. I was able to use my AP to purchase my family's tickets last year but I figured if the renewal rate is cheaper than the original AP price it might make it worth it in the future. I don't know what it costs to renew since I haven't had to do that yet.

:flower3: Thanks for sharing any thoughts about this!!!

if you only go once a year for a 4-5 day stay, don't buy the Mr. the AP.
better off buying tickets with your ap or tickets thru UT.

I bought APs last year for our August trip, since we are going this July. It was cheaper than buying 2 sets of 3 days tickets, plus we got free parking and hotel and food discounts.

Thanks!! Do either of you know know how much it costs to renew the AP? I mean is it the same price as it is cost for the original purchase?

I'm not sure. I don't plan on renewing mine this year. We will wait until next year and then get a new one to use for 2013 and 2014.

Yeah, I wish I would have bought one years ago... I just kept thinking that if I bought one one year I wouldn't come back the next. Thats before I knew about how much money it would actually save even just using it one year. I think I'll eventually have to get my husb. one because if my kids take friends with them we'll need a discount on an extra room...

when i renewed in april '11, the preferred annual pass was $170.xx

We are a family of 4 from NY. We each have an AP. Works well for us when we all split up. We have had them for about 10 years now. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys!!! I see where it's cheaper even with the renewal to buy tickets but maybe another AP would prompt more visits!!! We're shooting for twice a year once our finances are in order... ;)

I am renewing next month and it is $170 for the premier. At $120 for a 2 park 1 day ticket I will always do the annual pass. With the discounts I break even if I only go once, but usually I go twice a year

We also buy the AP (have both Disney and Universal AP) and live over 1200 miles away but we go to FL about 4 times a year. Unlike Disney, the Universal AP renewal is significatly discounted. Also, the AP discount at the three Universal Hotels definitely make it worthwhile. Also, with AP, we find that when we do visit Disney, we will go over to Universal for a couple of hours to eat and maybe do a ride or two.

I think we would go more if we all had AP's so I'm still considering it. Even if we go down to the beach for a week we could definitely go over to the parks for the day. I'll probably at least get my husb. one and appreciate the input! :goodvibes
