AAHHHH the day I have waited for. We were in Orlando stayed at the Holiday Inn Select (priceline 50.00 per night) ate breakfast at the hotel very good I may say...checked out of our room then on our way to the Port.

That was a fast drive before I knew it I was telling my hubby that at one of the bridges you could see the ships. At that point we were there. All I could say was WOW what a big ship!!!!!!! So we go to Avis turn in the van and get on their shuttle next the port!!! All this didn't take long. While at Avis I am looking around at the signs and what do my wondering eyes spy? A sign for The Perfect Gift. Wow I thought about everyone who posts to these boards and how shirley and norm have a special place in everyones heart, I also "wonder" how our make-a-wish family is doing at this time.

Before I know it we have our key to the world cards, our daughter is signed up for the club we have our pager, we have taken pictures of well everything in camera range Minnie is out and I am in line to get Amys first of many many many shutters pictures.

We get in line to board the ship...yep telling myself I'm not going to cry I'm not going to cry.......Yeah ME made thru the CM announcing us NO TEARS I think ok now just make it past hearing the horn :rotfl2:

We eat at the Beach Blanket ok ok yes everyone is right the shimp yummmy. We are then off to our room. WOW bon voyage everywhere. amy said the cake was great she is 4 years old anything sweet is great. Our dis meet was great SORRY for leaving early everyone its just Capt Hook is my all time fav had to go get a pic with him. The lifeboat drill not so fun...seen some upset kids...mine ...she fell asleep real worrier there.

Sailaway well we got really caught up in it and we skipped dinner.....yeah yeah yeah I know the horror. Anyway we were in bed by 8:30.

The part you have probably been waiting on:

OK I didnt have a watch on neither did hubby thats ok we have that nice stateroom clock...........................well Jamie wakes up and I do to stateroom clock says 5:00 yes we will get pictures of the sunrise!!!!! Jamie goes upstairs get 4 cups of coffee. We sit on the veranda then we want to know where we are at we check the station on TV for the bridge report.........Welcome to the Disney Wonder the time is 2:05 a.m WHAT!!!!!! Well our stateroom clock was wrong 1 1/2 cups of coffee and its 2:05 A.M. We hear a comotion outside we go out on our veranda low and behold there is a fight on deck 4 under the first lifeboat. I look over the railing and there is a guy UP ON THE RAIL screaming "leave me alone" a female yelling "no someone help"
YIKES I call guest services yep they know and someone is on the way......

This guy was soooooooo drunk WOW he was on the rail at least 3 times before anyone got there....from what we could tell he was adopted and was just told he really wasn't handling it so well. After about 20 minutes of this someone did come and he was gone they spent awhile cleaning the deck, we heard him tossing things about.

We did get back to sleep around 4:00ish and didn't miss the sunrise after all.

The Good----everything except:
The Bad-----coffee from deck 9
The man on the rail---geezsh some people.
Next post Day in Nassau --not as exciting :rotfl: :rotfl:

Gosh I was on that cruise and missed all the excitement! Glad it did not end in a tragedy.

Hi

Was wondering if you could post or pm me a mini review of the Holiday Inn Select? We also pricelined and are staying there next week for 2 nights. Well, actually 1 but I did the night before as we are arriving at 6:30am and wanted to check in immediately. I'm curious as to whether they provided you with 2 beds and what kind of room etc.??

Anything you could tell me would be great!!

Thanks and glad you posted. I originally had us on this cruise and then changed it into the 3/5 Magic.

JDM:

We are at the Holiday Inn Select now. We leave for the magic today. Very nice hotel for the price. Kids eat free in the dining room. Breakfast yeaterday for me and DS & DD (buffet) came to a whopping total of 9.75. Wonderful shower heads. You can change the settings. Very clean. Our room is on the 4th floor, parents on the 2nd. Exactly the same. Hotel mostly full of airline employees. Pool very warm. Open until 11pm. Dennys across the street has the most disgusting food. Don't even bother. Florida mall is about 15-20 minutes away. Shuttle runs at 10:30 am with pick up at 2pm for return. (Comp) Taking a taxi at a different time will run you 17.00 one way. There is also a fitness centre by the pool. Never used it. Also if you have little ones, there is a tennis court with a basketball hoop. You can get a ball from the gift shop. We bought a beach ball at the gift shop (1.99) and played volleyball with DD9, DS3. Staff very friendly. Well, gotta go on my ship now.

I am ROFLMFAO!! (Parents, don't translate all of those letters for the kiddies). The whole thing of the guy was adopted, had just been told--as an adult or at least drinking age, anyway--and was up on the rail thinking of jumping, and then a focused, not to be distracted DIS response wanting to know more about the Holiday Inn Select !!! I love it! Like, "So how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?" or "Okay, aside from that, how was Dallas, Mrs. Kennedy?"

My boss is adopted, so is his son, he is going to have a good ol' laugh when I show him this thread. I love the "sheesh, some people, too". I agree--though I may not mean the same people as the O.P., I might mean the folks who told him, and waited to do so until he was grown. My boss and I practice family law, you see, so sometimes we have clients who, like my boss's parents, hide the truth until it comes out in adulthood, and we dont advise that. The best part of this is that my boss is so matter of fact and unaffected by it all, and in his case even somewhat relieved, and he's a great parent.

So here's mine, never having been out and about on DCL at 2 a.m.--is the drink station open and operating? I can never have too many diet cokes, 24/7.

a little more in depth about our jumper.......at first we thought he had caught his wife/girlfriend cheating on him. When he said he was adopted I thinking ok yeah thats it take him on a Disney cruise on the first night and tell him. What kind of "magical gathering" was she looking for??? : Of course I have to admit the third time he climbed that rail and the female yelling again he told her to "leave me alone I got s*** to do" we found that to be really funny. Just so I dont get flamed here....it was pretty clear he was not jumping over board by this time.

The drink station...yeah baby 24/7 all the diet coke you can drink oh.... but that coffee nasty tip bring a big cup theirs are small.

Thank goodness this day was pretty uneventfull. We went to the beach blanket for breakfast, took our daughter to the club then went into Nassau. When we started planning this trip I told my hubby that in no shape nor form was I leaving my daughter on the ship. Well, to my suprise she did not want to go "shopping" all she wanted was to go to the club.

We leave her and head off into Nassau. I have really long hair so I twisted tied and tuck all that up under my hubbys baseball hat and a good thing I did. We lasted a total of 1 hour then back to the ship. I am a firm believer that if you have never been to Nassau go I have now so Im staying on the ship on future sailings. Hubby did go to Atlantis he said he would be kicking himself when we got home if he didn't.

I did start this as though it was uneventfull except it was our 8th wedding anniversary. We had AAPT rotation. So off to Animators for dinner, remember we blew off dinner the night before....WELL our servers not so happy with us. If you blow off dinner the first night LIE LIKE A DOG to your servers tell them your whole family was sea sick. :rotfl: :rotfl:
They really enjoyed ribbing us for standing them up.

After dinner we were ready to leave , no room for dessert ....Putu our server just about flip out. So we stayed and they sang to us and brought out a cake. It was nice.

Cant say enough about the pirate party.....DONT MISS IT pirate: pirate:
I haven't had that much fun in along time. After the party we were off to bed so we could get up early for castaway.

This time when we woke up we looked at the time on the TV not the stateroom clock!!!!!!!

funny report.... :rotfl: waiting for more :cool1:

We were on that cruise - that rotation too - 1st sitting. I'm adopted but it wasnt me yelling and trying to jump overboard.
It was my son however who nearly threw up over everyone at the life boat drill because we were standing in the sun for so long with those vests on. Disney just has to do something about this.

wow what a morning the sun shine was wonderfull......we had the reas...so we had our champagne breakfast at 8:00 am very yummy...dont like mimosas hahahah neither did my 4 year old dd. Turned my head and she took a big drink. :rotfl2:
anyway so we were off the ship in no time and heading for the beach. It was really warm the water WAS NOT. After sunning ourselves for a while we learned one thing ....you will do anything to cool off......just the thought makes my shiver. Around noon we headed off to find food. It was great wish I could do ribs like they do.
I'm not really sure the water warmed up or I just didn't care (the waiters bring you anything you want right to your chair!!!!!) could have been that I really didn't care. I got in the water the fish were really neat they are not shy.
It was great to watch Amy (dd) and Jamie (dh) playing together in the water and on the beach then watched horrified as my well mannered child horned right in on someones family picture :earseek: and they let her they thought it was funny. Guess if I was in their place I would have laughed too.

We were back in our stateroom around 3:00ish I took a nap so did camera hogging Amy come to think of it I have no idea what DH did. We had Palo reas that night......oh that place is sooooo goood. I had mignon and lasagne and chocolate souffle that was also our romantic turn down night....yep you probably guessed it....Amy (dd) loved playing in the roses and hugging the swans ...we got paged right after palos.....Bet that was the most romantic turn down my hubby has ever gotten.

So we just curled up in the bed all three of us and watched sharks tail and the villiage.

Next up day at sea
oh yeah this is our picture from Valentines day

Unfortunatley there is nothing DCL can do about it...it is government requirement that the safety drill be held. There are only a certain amount of places to put people for the drill. You obviously had the sunny side of the ship....the people on the shady side are lucky in summer but not so lucky in cooler weather. The drill is also held in the theatre, and Animator's Palate....it all depends on what stateroom you have...that determines where your safety drill assembly station will be. You just had the luck of the draw to be on the sunny side of the ship on a warm day.

Whenever we have cruised previously everybody attending All of the drills were inside.
None of them were made to put on the vests until they were at the drill and then only at the end, and they were US cruise lines. I dont dispute that the drills must be held but I object to being kept waiting for half an hour waiting for the stragglers to attend.
As it was none of my family got to hear any of the drill as we were in the nearest restroom with a very distressed child.
