Our "we ate ourselves sick, now it's time to hit the gym" dining report

Biergarten;
DH had various sausages, sauerkraut, chicken and potatoes. He also had a beer flight. He enjoyed his food and filled his plate at least twice. DD and I waited for the chef to walk us through the buffet. He was very thorough and offered to make special items for dd. he brought her dairy-free dumplings, salad dressing and various desserts in addition to the buffet items she was able to eat like the chicken, pretzel bread and spatzle. She liked everything. I had pretzel bread, chicken, salad, green beans. german potato salad and pork loin. I liked it all except for the pork loin, i thought it was dry and bland. I should have settled for 1 plate, but went back for seconds of the yummy pretzel bread and potato salad before digging into apple strudel and cheesecake for dessert!(best items of the meal).

We didn't get a photo of Ds's plate but he said while it was good, he wasn't that impressed and wouldn't eat here again. That was everyone's opinion except DH who really liked it there. I am glad we experienced it once, the show was nice and it was fun, but there are better restaurants.

Coming up will be my review of our AK day where we ate at Yak and Yeti, had snacks in the park and then dinner at Boma, oh my aching tummy! LOL. oh yeah, we had beignets for breakfast(except for DD), how could I forget those dangerous little fried delights?!

"DD's plate - she had the chicken, spatzle, salad, and pretzel bread. It was all good! The chef at Biergarten was great with the dairy intolerance, he came by the table and walked through the line with DD and told her what she could have from the buffet and brought dairy free dumplings, salad dressing, and desserts."

DD's Dessert Plate

breakfast the morning of our AK day began with a large order of beignets! YUM!
For lunch we tried Yak and Yeti for the first time, a little apprehensively because of negative reviews, but we loved it! Everyone was very happy with their entrees, the service and the restaurant is so nicely decorated, a definite for a revisit!
We started with drinks, I had a long awaited Yak Attack..I was happy! DD had a non alcoholic Mango daiquiri, DH a safari amber and DS a Big Bamboo(i tasted this, super yummy), we all enjoyed our drinks.
none of the appetizer choices appealed to us, so we went right for the main course!;) DD and I shared the Maple Tamarind chicken. this was a good choice as it was a large portion. I loved the veggies and rice with this dish and would have been happy just eating that! The chicken was moist and flavorful.
DS had the duck dish and he liked it! Dh, who isn't the most adventurous eater went with the Kobe burger, he was happy :goodvibes
we were too full, so no desserts, but we made up for that and more at Boma later that evening:rotfl:Review later this evening, gotta go watch some football...GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, ha ha. I forgot about the ice creams Barb! I had the always yummy Mickey Bar and DH had a Mickey cookie sandwich, what's not to like?

Sorry for the long delay! On to Boma! Yum! We love it here, the food and the atmosphere are so good. AKL is our favorite resort and this was a must do dinner. While the food didn't disappoint, the service was rather slow; granted it was quite busy the night we were there, so we were fine. DD and I did wait a long time for the chef to take us through the buffet line, lots of people with allergies that night. DH and DS both were on their 2nd plate of food before we finished our 1st.
The Chef was nice though and even brought us some special items to our table that were dairy-free for DD and a HUGE portion of salmon that was nut-free(the sauce had tree nuts), for me. I wasn't expecting such a large piece of fish so in the meantime I had filled my plate with an assortment of other yumminess that I totally devoured, so by the time I received the salmon, I was getting full. Not wanting to offend the chef, I ate the salmon, It was so good, albeit a bit painful for my stomach:rotfl2: Of course after that, DD had to share this amazingly good chicken coconut soup with me and I ate that too! I really enjoyed the ribs on the buffet, first time we hit the rotation where they were offered and I love the chicken, I was going to get more of each until I ate the salmon and the soup.
At this point, I think I was beginning to go into a food coma, but, of course I had to have dessert, which I think I got every nut-free one I could have, plus some fruit so I didn't feel like a total glutton, but who are we kidding, I was outta control:rotfl:
I was glad the waitress forgot to bring us the pressed-pot coffee we had ordered, cause I don't think I could have forced anything else. I paid for my indulgence by spending quite a lot of time in the restroom after this dinner:crazy2: ugh!
Boma photos are on pg 113 of Barb's live thread.

The rest of my family didn't go crazy at the buffet like I did, and overall, we loved our meal here. I wasn't kidding though when I said buffets are dangerous, I really need to avoid them, as I lose control! Did I learn my lesson? We shall see, coming up is our breakfast at The Crystal palace;)

"My dessert plate - zebra dome, chocolate mousse, fruit, and a coffee tart. All great, especially the coffee tart!"

On to the Crystal Palace! We had an 8:10 ADR time and really wanted to try for some nice crowd-free photos of Main St. and the castle, but it was foggy that morning, alas no cool photos. Last time we ate there it rained and we couldn't get good pics then either, oh well, guess we gotta go back!:)
After we checked in, we didn't wait long to be seated. Almost immediately we saw the Characters starting their rounds, Piglet came to our table before we received our drinks. While DD waited for the chef to give her the dairy-free options, everyone else hit the buffet. I waited at the omelet station for an egg white omelet filled with broccoli, mushrooms, green peppers and swiss cheese...yummy! It was cute to see the little children ahead of me watching their mickey pancakes being made, they were so excited, it was adorable!:)
I added fruit to my plate, and I was good.
The chef brought DD some dairy-free waffles and donuts which were a treat! DH who loves breakfast buffets was happy happy as he filled his plate several times. We all enjoyed this meal and already have plans to return in August for DD's Birthday, maybe we can finally get some pics!

Later that afternoon we tried the famous dole whip. This was actually a first time treat for us and DD was excited as it is lactose-free. Sadly, for some reason, none of us liked it:confused3 It tasted sort of "fake", it also left an aftertaste. Disappointing, and over-hyped. DH had a citrus swirl, which was a hit! He was happy they brought back the original that we had years ago on our honeymoon. I tasted it for old times sake, lol, and it was yummy as remembered.

DS, DD and I also tried a LeFous brew. We really liked it. It would be an especially nice treat for those hot summer days!

We had planned to try Be Our Guest for lunch, but no one was really hungry, so we changed our minds. Later we ended up at DTD and ate dinner at Earl's and WPE, both great options. DD & I shared a Caribbean jerk chicken sandwich at Earls, and DS and DH both had the Bacon-wrapped meatloaf from WPE(yum!)

DH and I went back to MK that evening during EMH because we wanted to get an ice cream cookie sandwich from the Main Street Bakery! :goodvibes Chocolate Chip cookies with vanilla ice cream, my ultimate favorite snack!
