I've just received an email saying the owner of the villa we have booked from the 16th August to the 6th September has been cancelled.

All I've been told is the owner has sold the house so our booking for a 3 bedroom house with a large pool can be changed to a condo with no pool for the same price or we can pay $500 extra for a 4 bedroom home in a different community.

We do not need a 4 bedroom. One but I've promised my daughter a private pool.

Does a contract mean anything???

I'm so upset xx

That's terrible! I can't even imagine having the floor pulled out from under me that way!

However, if the house is no longer available to the rental company there isn't much you can do.

Personally if you promised your DD a pool I'd bite the bullet and pay the extra $500.

i guess the contract is all one way.
That's terrible!!!!!!!!!!
is the community the new house is in ok with you?
if so, i guess you have no choice.
i guess they already have all your money, right?
would they give your money back if you don't want the other house?
but will you be able to find anything else at this late date?

I've been emailing for quotes but they're a lot more expensive than the original price we booked at.

The house they have offered us for $500 extra is a lot further away than the home on Lindfields that we booked.

I can have a refund as I've only paid my deposit.

I do wonder if there ever was a house available for us at this price. I replied last night to the rental agent and I've been ignored!!

Sorry to hear about your Villa, that would be very upsetting.

Does it have to be a villa? Maybe you could score a last minute rate at a Disney
Hotel? Disney also does Villa off property you could call and ask there price. I had one a few years ago from them. The price was very good.

I'd get on vrbo or similar and find a new one, $500 more for a 4 bed at the end of August is ridiculous. We've frequently only paid $1500 in total for a 5 bed closer to Disney than lindfields by booking directly.

Here's an example on Lindfields if that's where you prefer although I was actually searching Windsor Palms which is very nice

http://www.vrbo.com/1189122ha (would be $1600 but ask for a last minute low occupancy rate and many oblige!)

I personally wouldn't give them another penny, it all sounds abit odd to me :sad2:

Take your refund and run

Please don't get disheartened there will be a villa out there for you in the right area at the right price it might just take you a little searching :thumbsup2

Try www.lastminutevillas.net, www.vbro.com, www.villas2000.com www.ownersdirect.co.uk, www.orlandovillas.com, www.vr360homes.com & I know (if I'm allowed to mention it the Dibb have a section on villa hire). I have booked loads of villas over the years off most of these websites and touch wood never had a problem :thumbsup2

I'd just fire off a load of emails and I'm sure something will come through for you  I don't mind you PM me if I can help further

I had this happen to me when the owner sold and bookings were not transferred :( also I once booked with Virgin and they transferred me to another community although we had paid for a specific resort as they said they had no availability now!! so nothing is guaranteed even when using a reputable company.

I found another property, so would have a look and then get your money back. Have, you thought of a town hone with a splash pool, if your daughter is not very old then it may be ideal. I just had a quick look on Florida Sun Vacation homes and they have availability for your dates, though not sure how much you were paying.

Hope you get sorted :)

It has to be a villa as we need the space!

We've stayed in Disney on site rooms and DVC villas before but we need extra space now and off site villas meet our needs x

Thank you!

We stayed at Windsor Hills on our last holiday in a 3 bed condo and we loved the location but this time we wanted a big pool for my daughter who's 13.

Due to lesser price in Lindfields of $1500 for 3 weeks for a 3 bed home we went for there.

I've asked for quotes for Windsor Hills but its more expensive due to the location x

I've sent lots of emails my but instinct was to take back our deposit but the company have now offered us a property on Sunset Ridge for $150 extra.

They seem quite shocked and are apologetic but Ive still wasted lots of time trying to deal with this when I should be working!

We have another possible choice but it will work out at £300 more but it looks nicer inside!

I'm surprised this happened with Virgin.

My daughter is 13 so a slash pool isn't worth it for us as she's adult size!

I will have a look on Florida Sun Vacation thanks :0)

Try vr360 homes we have booked our last 2 villas through them and not been disappointed!!!

We have learned over the years that location isn't a big deal everything is 20 minute or so drive from most places.

I've found one that I like but its $600 more than our original booking. So its a case of finding the extra cash immediately as due to it being close full payment is required up front.

Has anyone ever stayed in West Stonebridge? It's on the US27.

Have you asked on The Dibb? I bet someone there would be able to help.:)
