Our un-magical Day

My knowledge or relationship with the OP doesn't matter. If you think I'm suspect then you should look into the mirror, I'm sure you will reply that you are NOT the fairest in the land.

Her job performance as a TA doesn't matter either because this wasn't a vacation that was planned it was an impromptu gift from her husband for her 40th birthday as she stated in her OP. So she didn't plan anything. Again though it is not her responsibility to make up for the inadequacies of poor customer service and a less than magical experience. Any guest should absolutely expect the best experience possible because not only have they paid for it but they have also come to expect it from Disney.

So the next time you eat at a restaurant and your food is cooked incorrectly I hope that you realize that it is your fault for not providing the recipe and ensuring that the chef cooked it correctly.

Of course Disney should be held just as accountable as a chef who cooked your food incorrectly. So all of you that are defending Disney are completely off base and are being ignorant.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This whole thing is so fake it's funny. I've been pretty bored today staying home with three kids in an ice storm. This has been quite entertaining.

Your analogy doesn't work. If I went into a steakhouse and was disappointed their wasn't sushi then it would be a correct analogy. Why because as a customer I have a responsibility to do a minimum amount of planning to get the meal I want. The op is responsible for doing a minimum amount of planning to get the day she wants. Such planning includes, picking up a map and schedule of meet and greets (available at the entrance of the park as well at many cashier registers and stands around the park), looking at menus of restaurants before ordering (menus are posted outside most restaurants). Most people have smart phones so spending a couple minutes in the car to get update information could also be reasonable.
I also wonder how impromptu it really was if she is planning on going back in a few days.

:confused3

That might be the worst analogy I've ever read on the Dis. If we are going to go with a restaurant example, then this thread would equate to one's favorite dish no longer being on the menu, and having a complete fit about how the chef didn't go back to the kitchen and make the dish exactly as it was over a decade ago. Never going to happen.

I am done feeding into this nonsense. OP, if you ever go back, read up on the way things work now. Expecting things to be the same as they were over a decade ago is naïve.

I am highly amused on this cold and gray morning!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

OP knew enough to post her dissatisfaction here on the boards, but not research her trip whether planning in advance or short impromptu?? :confused3

I wouldn't ever plan on going somewhere, old or new, without doing some research because I want to make sure that my family has an enjoyable trip and we definitely get our monies worth. We're all busy with "life," however, you make time for what matters most. You can choose to stay up late and research your trips or you go with the flow and make the best of it and know for next time whether that worked out for you or not. ;);)

True or not, keep it comin'...I have nowhere to go today. popcorn::popcorn::

I haven't been in a couple years, but honestly not even bothering to look up what's new or what has changed really has me :confused3. The first thing I do when going anywhere is to look up info! I'm sorry the OP thinks she had a bad time, but really with all the info out there and in the parks there's no excuse and no one to blame except herself.

You're incorrect that the analogy written with regard to the restaurant was wrong and that it would be correct if I went to a steak house expecting sushi. I did not say that the OP went to the park with the expectation that it would be like universal or busch gardens. Instead I was suggesting that Disney only maintain the expectations and service they had given in the past. Why is it unreasonable to expect quality service and a quality experience? Do we not pay very high ticket prices, food and souvenir prices as well?

My father used a expression growing up "Champagne taste on hamburger wages." in the case of Disney it is "Hamburger taste on Champagne wages."

It is NOT unreasonable to expect a 'Magical Experience" and if Disney failed her on that then they should be held accountable.

Why do you and the OP have the same IP address??

My knowledge or relationship with the OP doesn't matter.

By refusing to answer the question, you have confirmed that you are either a friend or relative of the OP. Or much more likely, you are the OP.

The thing is, if the OP is indeed a travel agent, then she should know that vacations anywhere take a little bit of research. Even if this trip was sprung on her at the last minute, at a minimum she could have picked up a map and times guide at the front of the park. We've been enough times I no longer need a map, but I always make sure to pick up a times guide when entering the park. When her child is crying in front of the castle, why not ask the CM "where can we meet Cinderella?" Who would decide to go to a restaurant, not bother to check the menu ahead of time, then get angry that the restaurant wasn't serving exactly what they wanted?

The OP either posted this as a joke to get people riled up or is seriously unreasonable in her expectations.

.

Let's say you went to your favourite restaurant on a whim but you hadn't been there for seven years. Then you get there and try to order without even looking at the menu, but they are no longer serving anything you like. The restaurant has changed and the menu has changed. Is that the restaurant's fault? :confused3 It seems to me that is what happened to you at Disney.

Look at the bright side. Parking at any of the Disney theme parks is $15/day. You got a discount if they only charged you $14.

This is hilarious!!!!

OP and JamesDean have the same IP. The OP is upset about all the changes that have been pretty standard for a little while now.

Also, not to cross borders, but the OP is dumping this exact same story EVERYWHERE they can where Disney is mentioned (ie other boards, travel sites).

I wonder how long before this thread gets locked.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't get it. OP claims to be a TA. She claims to have been to WDW numerous times. Chances are her DH has been on many of these vacations too, but he surprises her with an impromptu vacation and doesn't make any ADR's? :confused3
Call me crazy, but doesn't planning these vacations come up every so often at the dinner table? I know it does in my house!;)
Even my DH would know that some planning would be in order and he's not married to a TA!

But I have to wonder how the DH felt about his surprise bday gift after all her griping.:(

I disagree. Nobody owes you a "magical experience". You have to make your own. A positive attitude could have turned your trip around. :goodvibes
