We leave in 11 days and just found out our Dog will be having surgery this Monday :guilty: . She had to have this SAME exact surgery ( bladder stones ) done last Oct 2 weeks before we left. I wonder if she does not want us to leave  .
Luckily we are getting the free dining and have over budgeted becuase this surgery will cost about 600.00 when all is said and done.

With all that is going on in the world I have no right to complain about a stupid vet bill !!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well , she is worth EVERY penny she costs us :dog: , Im just glad she will be all recovered for her ' vacation ' at my parents. Guess she will be getting lots of presents brought back to her :teeth: .

Update: Tuesday sept Sept 27th. Well we leave next tuesday. I just wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes. Katy had her surgery yesterday and all went well. They took out over 200 :earseek: stones. She is resting comfortably in my bed. She came home this afternoon. Looks like we will have a good vacation afterall. Thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!

Awwww, your poor puppy! Hope the surgery goes well and she recovers quickly!

As our vacation time moves closer, these are the things I start to freak out about: will the dog or cat get sick? Will I, or the kids, or the hubby get sick or injured? What if we can't go??? So far, we've been curse-free! :teeth: (Knocking on wood.)

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Gotta Get To Disney! :moped:

Sorry to hear about your pooch. :dog2: Let's hope he's all better by the time you leave.

There was a time we thought our vacations were cursed. For a while there, every time we took a major vacation,we ended up getting transferred there. :earseek: so we stopped traveling. Then I had the bright idea of going to WDW for vacation. So far the curse hasn't worked, but I fugure sooner or later, it's bound to kick in :rotfl:

I feel the same way! We're supposed to leave next Friday, and my dog came down with kennel cough. She must have caught it at daycare some time last week. She was all scheduled to go to her usual kennel (that she loves because she gets to play with lots of dogs and people all day), but now we can't send her. I don't know what we're going to do! I feel your pain!

Of course I'm keeping in mind that this is an extremely minor problem compared with all of the people who have lost their homes, lives, and loved ones in the past few weeks, not to mention the people who are now being evacuated for Rita. My little problem doesn't even compare.

I'm sorry to hear about your doggie. Hope all goes well & he's back to his normal self in time for your vacation!

Sorry to hear about your puppy. We are the same way w/ our animals just another member of the family to us.
But I know what you mean about being cursed... Last trip I was hospitalized because my "little" cold I had when leaving turned into a MAJOR infection and a temp of 104.9. I'm trying to make sure I don't get sick again and what happens... DD gets sick 6 days before we go. She has a horrable cold. And then DH goes and pulls his back out in the same week. So it's 5 days until we leave and I'm at home nursing my sick family back to health. Let's just hope I don't catch it now!!!

Just saw your post and want to wish a speedy recovery to Katy. We do tend to worry about our little 4-legged family members don't we!

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. My cat, Daisy, is my baby and if anything happened to her, I don't know what I would do. During my last trip to WDW, I had to go to the emergency room at Celebration Hospital (trust me, it was nothing to celebrate). I am highly allergic to bug bites. I was bitten by some strange mosquito and I scratched the bite. Two days later, the mosquito bite became infected and it hurt when I walked. It was awful! The doctor instructed me to use a wheelchair to get around the parks and I refused (I was stubborn). I didn't want it to ruin my trip. We are leaving for WDW for four days in a little more than three weeks. I am bringing lots of bug spray this time and also my mother-in-law is coming and she is an RN. I don't want anything like this to happen again.

My doggie has had a couple UTI's and I was afraid it was bladder stones. There was no way I could ever afford the surgery unless it went on a credit card.

I hope your doggie is doing ok now. Give her lots of kisses from every one here.

Oh no. Poor puppy! So glad to hear that she is through the surgery. Try and enjoy your trip and know that she is in good hands with your parents. Have fun! :goodvibes

I hope Katy gets well soon! We have a mini schnauzer with numerous bladder stones that we have not had to have surgery on (yet!).

Here's a note though, make sure you give whoever watches your pets specific instructions as to what to do if your pet gets sick when you are away.
Last week was one of the most stressful weeks I have had! We were watching my parents' 13 yr dog while they were on a week long cruise. On the 4th day, the dog became very ill - couldn't walk, eat, drink etc. It was awful. My husband and I both took off work to take her to the vet. There was no way that I was going alone if they suggested that she be put to sleep.
The vet admitted her and put her on an IV. If she were our pet, the vet would have suggested that we make a decision but because she wasn't ours, they treated her - for $771. When my parents came home, they picked her up at the animal hospital. They said that we did the right thing. I stressed over that dog - couldn't eat or sleep for 5 nights! The dog is still alive - but for how much longer I don't know!
Just thought I'd pass a word of advice on to any fellow pet owners out there.
