We fly out tomorrow . We're doing MK early evening with what was to be followed by Cal Grill at 9:05pm. So we've been stalking trying to get a later dinner res and one came up. Im on the app. I try to book it and of course it tells me I have a conflict in times and do I wish to cancel to get the new one. I do, and don't you love it . The app cancels the old one and doesn't give me the new one. I get to my laptop and the old one is just spinning in mde. I call Disney and Ive lost both and the best they can do is tell me to call back later today to see if there are any cancellations. Great tech they have =not.

Well that's a bummer. :( I don't trust the app, it's hard to navigate and I always forget I even have it on my phone.

I'm so sorry. That really stinks. If I'm looking or a new time I now book under an alternate account to avoid issues...... which nobody should ever have to do. :(

I hope you have an awesome time and that you find a last minute cancellation.

It gets worse...Im on hold with the tech people right now because although the res is "cancelled" when Ive tried to book another one that just popped up MDE is still showing the old one floating around (circle beside the cancelled res keeps spinning) and it wont let me book anything at all.

Sorry that happened to you. Bummer.

Did you call Disney Dining right away with your cancelled reservation #?

Thanks Mom....But what do you do if you're trying to change times within 24 hours?

I hate using the app for making changes- sorry you had that issue. Might want to escalate beyond the phone rep on that one. They should at least reinstate your previous ADR

I was going to say this exactly ... which people should NOT have to do.

I know they don't want people having alternate accounts, but really their own system makes it a wise thing to do!

That wrinkle just dawned on me. They're not going to charge you a penalty for "cancelling" so late now are they? :faint:

I'd call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. I wouldn't count on them doing anything, but I'd at least want to try.

So the alternate accounts work like you have one account with one dining, but if you decide maybe to get something else, you make a new account and book it there? In case this happens so you don't lose the first one? I never thought of that lol. Actually smart though I agree it shouldn't need to happen.

That happened to me while trying to change a reservation at DL. I called and they were able to quickly take care of it, but, admittedly, the demand isn't the same for what I was booking. They seem to be having significant issues with their servers or something.

Thanks Mom....But what do you do if you're trying to change times within 24 hours?

2 things - even though this wasn't directed at me.

(1) As long as I have cancelled the day before, I have not been charged the no-show fee - even if it was technically less than 24 hours. Example: cancelling at 8:00 pm on day 1 when reservation is at 5:30 pm on day 2.

(2) I would rather argue over the no-show/late cancellation fee after the fact than risk losing both reservations. But hindsight is 20/20, and when you find those hard to get reservations, you want to POUNCE as soon as possible. I totally get it.

I really hope something works out for you. Such a bummer.

The good news is...tech got us sorted out....we have the old res back albeit with a new res number.
The bad news is....they cant get rid of the old one in MDE and the new one isn't showing up because they have "technical difficulties" currently. Which means if a new one comes up at a later time I will have to book with an alternative MDE acct or the same thing could very well happen again. They don't know when it will be fixed.
Thanks for all the support

That's a great development! I wish you could have gotten the new one but I bet at this point you're just happy to have the original one back. :cool1:

OP, glad this worked out in some fashion for you. Although it doesn't help with the current situation, I want to share a story that is relevent I think, at least in some way.

Last summer, when getting ready for our trip to Disney (we drive down from NY) the transmission in my car went. I paid $1000 to get a used 5 speed swapped in, and all was good.

The day before our trip, I was blessed with a gout flare up. Since I had never had one before, I had no medicine for it, and there was no way to get to the doctor in time, so I suffered with it for about the first 5 or 6 days of our trip.

Day one, on the way there, we leave home before 3 in the morning, and wind up breaking down in Maryland at about 7 . . . have to spend the night, another $1000 in car repairs, and it is 11:45 the next morning before we are on our way again. At this point, we have missed lunch at Dixie Cross Roads, and an afternoon at Wonder Works, and we are going to miss dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe'.

Not much I could do about any of those, but I did drive straight through from Maryland to Orlando, and get us checked in at the Caribe Royale where we were spending one night before moving over to Port Orleans Riverside. It was after 2:00 in the morning, but we made it.

The hotel was nice, we slept in a bit late, then went to POR. A few days into our stay, both DW and I get sick. On our first non park day, when we are supposed to be doing Disney Quest, Miniature Golf, and visiting Old Towne for their car cruise, we drive over to Wal Mart to get medicine, and fill the gas tank. At the gas station, the car won't start back up. Winds up being the fuel pump . .. . . HOURS of waiting for a tow truck, we miss mini golf, we miss Quest, we miss supper at DTD, and the car cruise at Olde Town.

Everything that could go wrong, seemingly did. The important thing to take from the story, I dealt with my foot killing me, DW, DS and I all dealt with being sick, and with the car breaking down twice, and with missing things we had planned, and in the end .. . . we had a great time!!

No matter what happens, whether you get the reservation you want, or end up eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the room, have fun!
