YDS 8
2/28 Up and out early. Head to the food court for breakfast (nothing special pancakes, fruit, etc.) and were waiting for the bus by 8:10. Arrive at AK, and lo and behold who do we run into Big V and his family!!! So we hang out and talk while we wait to get in. Timon shows up, so I scramble with all the kids (Big Vs included) to get autographs and pictures. We are let in and walk briskly to the rope at the Oasis. Take some pictures of the Tree of Life, chat awhile while we wait, then Minnie & Goofy arrive on the character bus. Mickey shows up by the Tree, the rope is dropped, and off we are.
We are following the stamped of people when YDS spots Lilo & Stitch. They want to stop for autographs and pictures all the while Im thinking we HAVE to get to the Safari or well be stuck in a 2 hour line. So I do the good mom thing, stop for the autographs, then walk, ok almost run, to the Safari, where there is only a 5 minute wait.
Got on the safari, and what a great attraction. All the animals seemed to be out, and very active. Saw the giraffes, a lot of elephants, even the baby, and the lion and lioness. The lion didnt seem to be very happy as he was pacing back and forth, back and forth, which made for a lot of great pictures (I hope), and I was a little glad he couldnt get near us. Got off the safari, and did Pangani Trail. The Gorillas were very active, chasing and playing with each other, very cute to watch.
We headed over to the Festival of the Lion King. This show was a must for me. I had just seen the Broadway version last month, and couldnt wait for this it didnt disappoint! The show is just amazing. I was hoping to go back later during our vacation to see it again, but alas it never happened. We wandered around for a while, did the attractions in DinoLand, saw Tough to Be a Bug, which I thought my 8yo would have a problem with, but he proved to be the daredevil of the group during this trip, went on the Maharaja Trail. By this time its 3:30pm, and we decide to head to MK for our 5:45 PSs at Crystal Palace.
Arrive at MK, and its more crowded than I thought. Wander into Adventure land; the waits for most things are over 30 minutes, so we decide to do Pirates. Check in for our PSs at 5:30, and am told by the CM that we are too early, that 5 minutes is sufficient. Dont get seated till after 6pm, but no problem. See all the characters and are done by 7:15. Decide to skip Spectro and head to ride Buzz then Astro Orbiter. Found a spot on the bridge to Tomorrowland to watch Wishes. It was amazing!! Tink flew practically right above us.
Got stuck in the mass of people trying to leave the MK, and waited ½ hour in line to get on the POR bus. Got back to the resort, and promptly fell asleep.
The not so good Dinosaur broke down just as we were getting on, and was down for at least 1 hour, thankfully we didnt wait for it to come back up, and fastpasses iot for later. Thinking there is a trend here that we will have at least 1 ride per day break down on us while we are waiting on line.
The good ok great The Festival of the Lion King and WISHES!!! Both were just amazing!!!
