Hi, all. We drove from New Jersey to Walt Disney World (about 17.5 hours) with two kids (7 and 2). The portable DVD player was a life saver! We stayed one night at the Wyndham Palace in Downtown Disney (excellent) and six nights the Wilderness Lodge (excellent). We did not do the parks at warp speed. We let the kids wake up on their own, we toured the parks at their speed, spent some time mid-day at the resort, and went back again after dinner. We saw everything we wanted to see, and the kids didn't have any tantrums or breakdowns since we kept our pace much slower than we've done in the past.
It was a HOT week, and the only thing I would do differently is bring more water/juice from home. We ended up paying a fortune in drinks! Also, we all have colds now from going from extreme heat to air-conditioned rides. I'm not sure how to prevent that from happening.
My two-year old is not potty-trained yet, and ended up "peeing out" of several pairs of shorts because of excitement. I would bring extra shorts (outfits) to the parks. Also, I ended up running out of diapers and had to pay a small fortune for 10 diapers. Do yourselves a favor, and pack more diapers!!!
Any questions?
